Example Title of Project: Portable Solar Energy System (PSES)

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Project 1 Project 2

1.1 Project Background
✓ To introduce the project.
✓ To inform where the problem/issue originated.

Example:
✓ Begin with an introduction to the climate crisis and the emergence
of renewable energy systems in the world such as the Solar Energy ✓ ✓
Systems (SES).
✓ Briefly explain what are the types of SES and why people use SES.
✓ Briefly explain the limitations of current SES under certain
applications/conditions, i.e., the gap that exists.
✓ End with why it is important to do PSES.

1.2 Problem Statement

✓ State the problem/issue the project intends to overcome.

Example:
✓ Further explain the limitation of the current SES under certain ✓ ✓
applications/conditions, i.e., how does the problem/issue arise? Is
it because of the design, size, cost, etc.?

1.3 Objective
✓ Begin with the aim of the project and follow with three (3)
objectives.

Example:
This project aims to develop a Portable Solar Energy System (PSES) for
people’s usage i.e., during a camping trip. The objectives of this ✓ ✓
project are as follows:
a) To construct the hardware/software/hardware and software for
the PSES.
b) To analyse the functionality of the PSES.
c) To demonstrate the performance of the PSES.

1.4 Scope
✓ To explain the output of the project and its limitations caused by
the design/components used.

Example:
This project utilises a 12 V Polycrystalline Solar PV Panel with the ✓ ✓
dimensions of 370 x 360 x 20 mm, weighing 1.5 kg that is capable of
producing 15 W output at peak. Therefore, the project is only suitable
for powering/charging small electronic devices.

1.5 Project Outline

✓ To briefly explain the content of the final proposal/report. ✓ ✓

CHAPTER 2 LITERATURE REVIEW Project 1 Project 2

2.1 Introduction
✓ To briefly explain the flow and content of the chapter. ✓ ✓
2.2 Previous Studies/Investigations
✓ To review methods, results, and/or parameters previously
used/studied/considered in current PSES construction. (i.e.,
information from the Investigation Report). ✓ ✓
✓ To review the advantages and disadvantages of current PSES.
✓ Best to summarise the findings in a table for easier comparison.

2.3 Related Theories

✓ To review related theories on major components, controllers,
software, etc. used in the project. ✓ ✓
2.4 Summary
✓ To summarise the content of the chapter.
✓ To include statements related to the environmental and ✓ ✓
sustainability aspects. CLO7/PLO6 CLO4/PLO7

CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY Project 1 Project 2

3.1 Introduction
✓ To briefly explain the flow and content of the chapter. ✓ ✓
3.1.1 Project Flowchart
✓ To include an overall flowchart that shows the flow of the
project construction process. Briefly explain the flowchart.
✓ Best practice: The project can be subdivided into phases and ✓ ✓
is reflected in milestones achievement.

3.1.2 Block Diagram

✓ To include an overall block diagram of the project and an
explanation of the block diagram. ✓ ✓
3.2 Software Development (if related)
✓ To briefly explain the software development or being used. ✓ ✓
3.2.1 Flowchart
✓ To include a flowchart and explanation of the process
involved. ✓ ✓
3.2.2 Schematic and Testing
✓ To showcase the application of software used, i.e.,
Tinkercad, Livewire, Proteus, Arduino Coding and/or
parameter(s) setting. ✓ ✓
✓ The results are analysed and discussed in section 4.2.

3.3 Hardware Development (if related)

✓ To briefly explain the hardware development or being used. ✓ ✓
✓ To include a flowchart of the hardware development.

3.3.1 Circuit Construction and Testing on Breadboard

✓ To showcase the circuit’s functionality test on a breadboard.
✓ The results are analysed and discussed in section 4.3. ✓ ✓
3.3.2 Final Circuit Development, Testing and Troubleshooting
✓ To showcase the final circuit development (i.e., PCB design,
Etching, Soldering), and testing. ✓ ✓
✓ The results are analysed and discussed in section 4.3.

3.4 Project Model/Prototype

✓ To include drawings/sketches of the model/prototype (i.e.,
project/casing dimension, material selection, etc.)
Note: A model is usually of a smaller scale used for ✓
demonstration. While a prototype is the actual version of the
intended product.

3.5 Project Cost

✓ To estimate the project cost for Project 1.
✓ To outline the total project cost for Project 2. ✓ ✓
✓ To highlight the source of external funding (if applicable).

CHAPTER 4 RESULT AND DISCUSSION Project 1 Project 2
