Note
The above salary scales are fully operative with effect from 01.01.2020 and the placement of salary
applicable to the posts for the years 2018, 2019 & 2020 will be made in accordance with the
University Grants Commission Circualr No.17/2016 (v) dated 01.06.2018.
In addition to the above salary,
1. The following allowances will be paid for permanent appointees in the percentage of the
basic salary.
i. Academic allowance
Senior Lecturer Gr.I/II - 151%
:
Lecturer (Probationary) - 115%
Lecturer (Unconfirmed) - 131%
ii. Additional monthly allowance – 20% of the basic
iii. Research allowance – 35% (based on the research activity)
2. Cost of living allowance of Rs. 7800/-

SABBATICAL LEAVE :
The holders of Post of Senior Lecturer Gr.I/II are eligible for one year sabbatical leave with pay
or two years without pay on completion of seven years of service. Those proceeding abroad on
sabbatical leave are eligible to receive full passage for self and spouse.

For the post of Senior Professor/Professor, the applicant should send the applications according

including CV, self-assessment report, three copies of the publications, and three outstanding
research papers to Senior Assistant Registrar/Establishments, The Open University of Sri Lanka,
Nawala, Nugegoda.
