7.3.2. Check of the insulation measurements

If the measurements are under the followings values, it's

necessary to dry before other tests.

The drying can be done by a hot air blower at standstill or

by a zero excitation run, or by a short circuit run with
sufficient stator current.

Minimal insulation values :

• Generator stator windings

− Insulation value after 1 min should not be lower

t
(4− )
than (Un + 1) × 2 10 in MΩ
Where Un is the nominal stator voltage in kV and t
is the stator winding average temperature in °C.
− Test voltage around 0.2*Un in kVdc.
Where Un is the nominal stator voltage in kV.

• Rotor winding at 20°C

− Insulation : 30 MΩ after 1 min.

− Test voltage : 500 Vdc

• Stator of exciter :

− Insulation : 10 MΩ after 1 min.

− Test voltage : 500 Vdc
