SPEAKING SAMPLE TOPIC

 TOPIC 1: Problem students should be grouped and taught in the same class. State your
comments.
There is no doubt that some students in schools behave badly and their behaviour causes difficulty
for others either because it has a negative effect on the group or because ordinary students find it
difficult to study with them.
One solution is to take these students away and teach them on their own. However, if we simply
have them removed after one or two warnings, we are limiting their educational opportunities
because it seems to me that a school which caters for difficult students is a sort of "prison" whatever
name you give it and the people who go there may never recover from the experience. This can then
cause problems for the wider society.
Perhaps we need to look at why the disruptive students behave badly before we separate them.
Disruptive students may be very intelligent and find the classes boring because the work is too easy.
Perhaps these students need extra lessons rather than separate lessons. Or perhaps the teachers are
uninspiring and this results in behavioural problems so we need better teachers. On the other hand,
most students put up with this situation rather than cause trouble, and some people argue that we
have to learn to suffer bad teachers and boring situations and that students who can't learn this
lesson need to be taught separately.
So before we condemn the students to a special school, we should look at factors such as the
teaching, because once the children have been separated, it is very unlikely that they will be brought
back.

 TOPIC 2: Nowadays environmental problems are too big to be managed by individual

persons or individual countries. In other words, it is an international problem. State
your comments.
A popular belief is that environmental problems are not solved by individuals or every nation in
proper approach. Personally, I totally concur with this statement.
On the one hand, I am of the opinion that environmental issues have occured in the world as a
whole. There is no doubt that world environment has been damaged by human activities in every
metre of the world area. People living in all five continens have used the increasing amount of fossil
fuel in these days. It is also obvious that not only are the rainforests demolished but also some
endangered species of wild animals are going to exctint are not observed in limited number of
nations. As a result, climate change has happened in the cross- country scale such as heavy droughts
have occured in a variety of areas in Asia and Africa or tsunami influencing on series of countries
located along Pacific Ocean.
At the same time, I also believe that mandkind including all of goverments of various countries and
people living in different places on the Earth have to be responsible for address the environmental
issues. Fisrtly, there are some global environmental laws about protection endangered species or
reducing pollution are implemented by most of nations. Pupils and citizens around the world are
forced to allow these international regulations to protect the world environment. Secondly, although
natural disasters have happened in certain regions, internationnal community has took part in share
to empathise for other people’s difficulties. It is also the best way to prevent the negative impacts on
around the world. For example, helping Japan to deal with radical problems, the world, especially
neighbour countries can be prevented from radical expansion.
Taking everything into consideration, I am favor of that resolve consequences related to
environmental damage should be contributed to the whole world bcause it is a globalization matter.
 TOPIC 3: It is said that nowadays the Internet is playing havoc with our
communication instead of bringing people together. State your comments.
It is a fact that internet technology has helped people in connecting with their relatives and friends
without the boundaries of distance and cost, but many people think that the technology has made
people become less socialized and more individualistic. To a certain extent, I would agree that the
internet has negatively affected to people's social life, but if we use the technology in a wise and
appropriate manner, it has a lot of positive functions.
On the one hand, it is true that many people are having social life problems these days, due to the
existence of internet and information technology. Almost everybody have their own mobile phone
nowadays, and they can use it for browsing, chatting and online gaming. With all the attractive and
entertaining applications, many people like to play around with their gadget for hours and abandon
their social life. As a result, it has been reported that many families are having communication
problems these days due to they have less time for an eye to eye contact with other family members.
However, it can be clearly seen that the problem has risen due to the improper and indiscipline act
of users themselves. If the internet is used in the right purpose and in the appropriate portion, it
would bring many benefits for mankind. Firstly, internet technology has truly changed the way
individuals and corporations interact and correspond. With electronic email and chatting facilities
such as yahoo or google, people could communicate and connected with other people in a more
efficient and effective way. Secondly, the internet could also be used to expand people's networking.
Social media sites such as Facebook or twitter could be used to connect people from different areas,
maintain friendships and even it could be used for online businesses as well. Therefore, it depends
on of the users themselves on how wise they use it.
In conclusion, although online technology has become a problem for some people's social life,
others disagree about it. To a certain point, I do believe that internet could be a treat to our social
life, but if people use it wisely and appropriately then I do believe that it has a lot of benefits for
individuals and societies.

 TOPIC 4: The mass media, including television, radio and newspapers, have a positive
influence on shaping people’s ideas. State your comments.
In this day and age, several means of communication such as television, radio, and newspapers are
believed to impact people’s perspectives about the world. I completely agree with this opinion for
some reasons.
Firstly, mass media constantly bombard people with adverts, world news, trends, and fashion, which
are the main sources for audiences to imitate and change their lifestyles. For example, it is valid to
argue that many young people are trying to emulate the fashion styles of their idols who are
influential on social media. Many Vietnamese youths manage to purchase the same clothes, dye
their hair and wear the same perfume as their stars do. When it comes to advertising, people,
especially children, tend to fall victim to misleading advertisements and make a purchase of
products that they do not need. Therefore, mass media have a profound impact on the way people
imitate others.
Secondly, constant exposure to news tends to change people’s outlook toward politics. In fact,
media campaigns can even change the outcome of an election because people are heavily influenced
by what they see on television or read in newspapers. For instance, voters who earlier had a
preference for one candidate may be inspired by media coverage to contribute money or to help the
candidate’s rival. In addition, audiences are likely to be fooled and confused by misleading news,
which confounds basic facts about politics and government with fiction. This can trigger civil
unrest, protests, and even riots against the government. Therefore, means of communication play a
great role in shaping public opinion.
In conclusion, I hold a strong belief that people’s perspectives are greatly influenced by mass media.
 TOPIC 5: Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things we really do
not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve
our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree with? State your comments.
Promotion of new products, particularly in advertising campaign, has been gained in popularity over
past few years, thanks to social media development. Although some may argue that advertising
offers customers a promotion to purchase a great deal of kinds of products that they are not really on
demand, I personally suppose that advertisements would bring benefits to buyers when it comes to
enhance people’s awareness about new products introduction.
When some people claim that business companies design various advertisements to attract their
customers and let them buy more, either necessary products or unnecessary ones, they may not think
that purchasing goods is customer’s right and promoting products is business’s responsibility. In
other words, advertising may not the factor that encourages people to buy things they do not need.
Furthermore, if many advertisements were designed to introducing new products, people would
have more chances to get knowledge about any new product in advance not only its quality but also
the price, which will enhances customer’s shopping experiments.
Through advertisement, people can learn about new products. For example, many grocery stores
with good quality now sell prepackaged lunches, which are absolutely convenient for busy parents
because parents can just give these lunches to their children to take to school instead of letting them
on stores are not guaranteed. Furthermore, without advertisements, busy parents may waste of time
looking at every item on the store shelf and they might not know about such a convenient new
product. In addition, advertisements keep us informed about prices and sales. This means that,
prices change all the time, but everyone can look at the pieces of advertisement in a newspaper and
see the latest prices and the discount ones.
In conclusion, advertisements improve people lives by keeping them informed about the latest
products developments and the best prices.

 TOPIC 6:
As human population is significantly increasing every year, people's requirements are increasing
too. We need more food, more machines, more place to live and so on. As a result, people need
more land areas to satisfy their requirements. We cultivate and irrigate more and more lands to plant
vegetables, build new buildings, airports, roads, etc. I think sometimes we forget that we are not
alone on this planet. I have to disagree with those people who think that human needs are more
important than saving land for endangered animals. I base my opinion on the following points.
First of all, as I have already mentioned, we are not alone on this planet. A few centuries ago we
were the part of wild nature. I think we need to remember this fact and respect all creatures around
us. The green planet has thousands of species and all of them have equal share to live here freely. If
we use all the lands for us, it will be impossible for other species to survive. As humans, we have a
responsibility to let other species live in a natural environment.
Second of all, I believe that we all need to think of the problem of overpopulation. The human
population is dramatically increasing and we have to do something about it. From my opinion, every
family should have no more than two children. It will help to stop the growth of population,
decrease human needs for farmland, housing and industry.
In conclusion, I think it is a very topical question nowadays that whether we, humans, have the
supreme possession of everything on earth. My point is that all people should answer this question
and find the solution. But as far as I am concerned, other species have as much right as we have to
be here.
 TOPIC 7:
In the past, people mostly preferred to stay in the extended families. Today, it is observed that many
individuals have their own nuclear families. In this essay, we will discuss how professional
commitments forced people for opting this kind of families. To tackle this, an organisation’s role
will be analysed.
To begin with, individuals focus towards their career development to a greater extent. A good
illustration for this is the group of professionals who spend most of their time in their companies. As
a result, they do not have much time for themselves and hence, prefer staying in small families with
less contact with other members. Thus, it is obvious that they are not much involved with other
family members leading to the lack of closeness with them.
To overcome this, companies can play a crucial role. The first step which a firm can take is to
provide the work from home access to the employees. By doing this, they will allow their staff to
spend more time with their families. The other steps which can be taken include declaring holidays
on all festivals and organising family day in a company. This will allow them to spend more periods
with their families and hence, can help them to recuperate their relationships.
From the above, it is clear that hectic work schedule act as a major hindrance for creating close
bonds with family. Therefore, the companies should allow remote work, increase holidays and
announce family days at workplaces for enforcing individuals to concentrate towards their
relationships.

 TOPIC 8:
Food is one of the fundamental needs of human lives, and from the ancient period until this ultra-
modern tech-time people have invented different ways to prepare and customise foods. The
improvement has definitely enhanced our lifestyle as we have more time to do more productive
things.
To begin with, the customs and ways people prepare foods and present to others vary depending on
the race, culture and country. But the most fundamental need of preparing foods is to fulfil the very
basic human need- hunger. Preparing foods was very cumbersome in the past but with the
advancement of human knowledge and technology, men have created many devices and made many
new ways of easily making foods. The number of restaurants and fast-food shops are ever-
increasing and that have omitted the need to prepare the food at all. The advanced technology like a
rice cooker, meal cooker and easy availability of ingredients nowadays help people to prepare food
in no time and that has improved the way of people’s lifestyle. People now spend less time
preparing foods and can utilise this time in other tasks like professional tasks, reading, entertainment
and spending time with family and friends. Thus people get more productive and social because of
the increased time they have.
Quick food has become very popular which omits the needs of cooking and professionals, students
and business person are having those foods during their lunchtime. This is a significant
improvement in saving time and using it more productively. Though fast foods have some health
issues, the ever-increasing popularity of it shows needs to have more time in our busy life and
saving this time from the allotted time from cooking. The cooking machines help the housewives to
prepare the foods easily and they do not have to spend time in a hot kitchen to prepare food. This is
a leap towards a modern life where foods can be prepared virtually anywhere and in a few minutes.
In summary, the improved way of cooking helps people nowadays to save time and cook in a more
convenient place. This helps them to spend time on more important things and lead a life without
much hassle.

 TOPIC 9:
Some people argue that the authorities should invest more in healthcare services and education
rather than spend money on constructing theaters or stadiums. I completely agree with these ideas.
On the one hand, building theaters and sports stadiums should be handled by private companies
because they have more competitive advantages in term of generating revenue and attracting
customers’ attention. The process of making decision in a company compared with the government
is much faster, so it will perform effectively in leisure industry, where prompt decisions are
desirable. In addition, if private organizations are in charged, the annual taxes’ payments they have
to paid will contribute to raise the national income.
On the other hand, to improve the living standard of the country the government should increase the
fund spent on medical services and education. There is still a part of population cannot afford the
medical treatment, and other parts curing in rundown hospital with shortage of medicines.
Therefore, investments should be put on improving medical system, stabilizing the medicine prices,
and upgrading hospital facilities, so that even the poor can experience great medical treatments. In
addition, instead of spending money on building entertainment spots, investing in human through
education will be a wiser choice for the reason that the tomorrow’s generations will decide the
future of a nation. The value of a well-educated individual will far outweigh the short term benefits
of constructing theaters or stadiums.
In conclusion, the bureaucrat should concentrate on improving the quality of healthcare services and
education as well as encourage private companies to invest in leisure industry.

 TOPIC 10:
At present computer is one of the essential parts of our daily life. Many people of today's society are
of the opinion that computer is the blessings of modern science which make our life more
comfortable and handy while others oppose this concept but my inclination is toward the former.
On one hand, it is argued that due to the more dependency on the computer, life is more tensed and
complicated now. The most vital point for the demand which can initially be mentioned is that
excessive technology based recent life. For example, modern school education systems are mainly
computer based so students have no opportunity to learn mathematical skill even small subtraction
and addition they cannot count without a computer. Besides Children are too much addicted to
computer games rather than other outdoor activities and finally our future generation are becoming
more machine dependent and physically disable and it results seems like in near future horror
science fiction will be true. A further point is that computer hard disk crash and viruses are like
natural disasters and make our life literally impossible.
On the other hand, there are quite plausible reasons how the computer is becoming the part and
parcel of our everyday life. What can be cited first regarding this is due to communication and
information technology now World is in our hand. Anyone can reach any corner of the world within
in a second. There are so many ways to communicate with each other such as email, online chatting,
voice mail, video chat etc. To clarify this matter from home any one takes part in a job interview,
conference or any online class. He/she does not need to go there physically but in the digital world,
it is possible. What's more online marketing, banking etc. make our life more convenient so we can
enjoy a strong personal relationship. Last but not the least, any business and official work can be
accomplished efficiently because of electronic data management, for instance, electronic files are
easily stored and maintained rather than paper documents.
In a nutshell taking all the aforementioned pros and cons into account, I personally opine that
computer is the most wonderful gift of our life.

 TOPIC 11:
Some individuals assert that spare time should be spent on some healthy indoor activities such as
reading and doing scrabble. In contrast, others believe it is essential to rest to recharge the mind
without consciously having any thoughts. This essay will discuss both sides of this contentious
argument, and then I will give my perspectives.

To start with, leafing through a storybook and playing crossword games are effective ways of
reducing stress. No matter how much anxiety we face in daily life, the pressure may slip away when
we lose ourselves in a great story of a fiction book or focus on solving the crossword puzzles.
Reading helps to distract one from the tension one faces and keeps it in the present moment.
Additionally, these activities foster cognitive stimulation. Studies have shown that being mentally
active through activities such as reading and doing puzzles preclude one from losing brain power
and reduce the progress of dementia. Like any other muscle in our body, brain muscle needs to be
exercised to stay active.
On the flipper side, it is claimed that resting the mind helps obtain peacefulness and relaxation.
Therefore, people who soothe their brains during leisure time are less likely to fatigue during
worktime. To illustrate this, a recent survey by Harvard University found that individuals who take
a nap or rest on a balcony enjoying the landscape are happier at work and less stressed. However,
developing high levels of relaxation could create laziness among workers and, to prevent this, it is
paramount to practice mental flexibility.
In conclusion, I would like to say that constructive activities in our leisure time could immensely
benefit us. Moreover, by doing these activities, one can gain plenty of knowledge to assist them in
their coming life.

 TOPIC 12:
I completely agree with the quote "the most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence." Here's why
it resonates:

 Confidence radiates: When you feel good about yourself, it shows. You carry yourself with
a certain poise and presence that makes you naturally attractive.
 Confidence is attractive: People are drawn to those who are self-assured and comfortable in
their own skin. It suggests positive qualities like inner strength, resilience, and a willingness to take
chances.
 Confidence is empowering: When you believe in yourself, you're more likely to go after
your goals and live life to the fullest. It allows you to embrace your individuality and shine brightly.

Confidence isn't about arrogance or conceit, but rather a healthy self-respect and a belief in your
abilities. It's something anyone can cultivate, regardless of what they're wearing on the outside.

Here's a thought to add to the quote: While confidence is undeniably beautiful, it's important to
remember that true beauty comes from a combination of inner and outer qualities. Embrace what
makes you unique, cultivate self-love, and let your confidence shine through!

 TOPIC 13:

I absolutely agree. Here's why seeing challenges as opportunities is a key characteristic of a 21st-
century global citizen:

 Challenges spark innovation: When faced with a problem, global citizens look for creative
solutions. They use their understanding of interconnectedness to find solutions that benefit
not just themselves but potentially a wider community.
 Challenges foster collaboration: Complex global issues like climate change or poverty
require cooperation across borders and cultures. A global citizen with an "opportunity
mindset" is more likely to bridge divides and work together to find solutions.
 Challenges promote growth: Overcoming obstacles builds resilience, resourcefulness, and
problem-solving skills. These are all essential for navigating the ever-changing world of the
21st century.

However, it's important to acknowledge that challenges can be daunting. Here's where the
global citizen spirit comes in:

 Global awareness: Understanding the root causes of challenges allows for a more informed
and strategic approach to overcoming them.
 Empathy and compassion: Recognizing the impact of challenges on different communities
fosters a sense of shared responsibility and motivates action.
 Action orientation: A global citizen doesn't just see opportunities, they take initiative. They
contribute their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact.

By viewing challenges as opportunities, global citizens become proactive participants in shaping a

better future for themselves and the world.

 TOPIC 14:
Social media makes daily communication a lot easier. The majority of the student have their social
media account so they can communicate with their friend and find a lot of new online friend. Social
media can connect us to many new people and we can socialize more easily online. They have a
point, but I agree that social media has made us less social. Social media has made us less social
because of lack of face-to-face interaction, might cause problems with offline relationships, and
might be cyberbullying victims on social media.
Firstly, the reason social media made us less social is because of the lesser face-to-face interaction
we make offline because of too much time spend on social media. You might be anti-social if you
are too addicted to social media. By that time, your social skill will become worse and you would
not be able to talk properly with the person you want to talk to. You will be the awkward person that
people do not want to talk to. An anti-social person tends to feel anxious when going out in public.
For example, they only can communicate properly by using social media. Thus, less face-to-face
interaction makes your own life miserable and uncomfortable.
Secondly, social media has made us less social because it might cause problems with offline
relationships. Some people's relationships ended because of social media. People can slander the
person they envy easily without any explanation. People just want to hear what they want and not
the truth. In the end, the person that being slandered is isolated from society. Some people also end
up with arguments face to face because of miscommunication on social media. Therefore, social
media can get you into problems with offline relationships.
Finally, social media has made us less social because you might be a cyberbullying victim.
Cyberbullying can cause depression and make the victim feel less comfortable and anxious to
socialize with people. They tend to keep it to themselves and try to hide from society because they
are scared they might be a victim again. As a result, they also become anti-social and do not want to
socialize. Being cyberbullied can cause trauma that can destroy someone’s life. Therefore, social
media increase the chance of being a victim of cyberbullying.
To conclude, social media made us less social because of lack of face-to-face interaction, might
cause problems with offline relationships, and might be cyberbullying victims on social media.
Social networks' impact on social skills is a complex issue. Here's a breakdown of why they can
make us feel less social:
 Displaced interactions: Spending excessive time online can take away from opportunities
for face-to-face interaction. Real-life social skills like active listening, body language
reading, and navigating emotional cues are less practiced online.
 Curated reality: Social media feeds often showcase idealized versions of people's lives,
leading to social comparison and feelings of inadequacy. This can make real-life social
interactions feel less fulfilling.
 Social isolation: Social media can create a false sense of connection. While you might have
many online "friends," you might lack close, supportive relationships that provide a sense of
belonging.
However, social networks can also be tools for enhancing social connection:
 Staying connected: Social media allows us to maintain contact with geographically distant
friends and family. It can also be a way to reconnect with old acquaintances.
 Finding communities: Social media platforms offer groups and forums for people with
shared interests. This can be a great way to meet like-minded people and build new social
circles.
 Social organization: Social media can be used to organize events, meetups, and activities,
facilitating real-world social interaction.
The key takeaway? Social networks are tools, and their impact depends on how we use them. Here
are some tips for a healthy balance:
 Be mindful of your time: Set limits on social media usage and prioritize face-to-face
interactions.
 Cultivate quality connections: Focus on building meaningful online relationships and using
social media to strengthen existing ones.
 Seek authentic experiences: Don't rely solely on social media for social fulfillment. Make
an effort to connect with people in person and participate in real-world activities.
Ultimately, social networks can be a positive force in our social lives, but it's up to us to use them
consciously and strategically.

 TOPIC 15:
I agree completely! The idea of happiness as a journey, not a destination, is a powerful one.
Here's why it resonates:
- Focus on the Present: Chasing a future state of happiness can lead to neglecting the present
moment. By viewing happiness as part of the journey, we appreciate the little joys and
experiences along the way.
- Continuous Growth: Happiness isn't static. It's about personal growth, learning new things,
and overcoming challenges. The journey itself becomes a source of satisfaction.
- Resilience in the Face of Setbacks: Life has its ups and downs. Seeing happiness as a
journey acknowledges that there will be bumps in the road. It allows us to bounce back from
setbacks and keep moving forward.
Here are some additional thoughts:
- Defining Your Own Happiness: What makes one person happy might not be the same for
another. The journey is about discovering what brings you joy and fulfillment.
- Appreciating the Journey: Sometimes we get so focused on the destination that we miss
out on the beauty of the journey. Savor the experiences, big and small, that contribute to your
overall happiness.
- The Importance of Perspective: Even during challenging times, there's always something
to be grateful for. Maintaining a positive outlook can enhance happiness along the path.
Remember, happiness is a choice we make every day. By focusing on the journey, we can
cultivate a more positive and fulfilling life experience.

 TOPIC 16:
Nowadays there are many different obstacles and possible solutions that make a strong influence on
kids. Some people think that friends play an important role for young adults while others believe
that family influences the most on youngsters. Personally, I sure that immediate family plays a
crucial role during younger ages for two reasons.
Firstly, The major point is that parents help their children in life. It is undeniable that there are many
problems at school as well as in personal life and development. The most vital aspects are studying
and hobbies because they form and define a human as a person. As a result, it is easy to notice that
parents always want to do the best for their child and provide some assistance in a particular way.
For instance, helping with homework may encourage a child to do it by himself and to be more
confident in the future. Consequently, all problems a kid's face with his family, so it allows to
become stronger by overcoming these obstacles.
Secondly, knowledge and life experience are vital to the character. It is true that from parents'
children discover the unknown world and build their attitudes and opinions about other things and
people. Thus, this process defines their habits and passions. In this case good and noble relatives
explain and show some basic habits such as brushing teeth twice a day and, in addition, they point
out what is good and what is bad. Finally, small decisions become actions, actions become habits
which make a kid’s way of life.
To draw to conclusion, I am of the opinion that only relations between children and parents are
underlying principles, because they strengthen characters and bring vital information.

 TOPIC 17:
I believe there's a lot of truth to the idea that respecting diversity leads to freedom to live as you
like. Here's why:
Respect for Diversity Creates Space for Individuality:
 Acceptance of Differences: When people respect diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and
lifestyles, they create a society where everyone feels valued for who they are. This allows
individuals to express themselves authentically without fear of judgement.
 Freedom from Conformity: In a diverse world, there's no single "right" way to live. People
are free to explore their passions, make their own choices, and live according to their values.
However, there are some nuances to consider:
 Balance with Social Cohesion: Complete freedom to live as one likes can lead to societal
chaos. Respect for diversity also involves respecting shared values and norms that keep a
community functioning.
 Limits of Freedom: Freedom shouldn't infringe on the rights of others. A diverse society
requires boundaries that ensure everyone's safety and well-being.
Here's how respecting diversity can lead to a more fulfilling life for everyone:
 Exposure to New Ideas: Diversity brings a richness of perspectives and experiences. By
interacting with people from different backgrounds, we can learn and grow, fostering a more
vibrant and interesting society.
 Personal Growth: Living in a diverse world encourages us to challenge our own biases and
assumptions. This openness to new ideas can lead to personal growth and a greater
understanding of the world.
Overall, respecting diversity is a core principle for a free and just society. It allows individuals to
flourish while fostering a sense of community and shared humanity.

 TOPIC 18:
Absolutely! The ability to understand and be understood is truly one of the most beautiful aspects of
friendship. Here's why:
 Mutual connection: Feeling understood by a friend creates a deep sense of connection and
intimacy. It allows you to be vulnerable and share your true self without fear of judgement.
 Support and empathy: True friends can see things from your perspective and offer support
during tough times. They understand your joys and sorrows, creating a strong emotional
bond.
 Reduced loneliness: Knowing someone "gets" you can significantly reduce feelings of
loneliness and isolation. It creates a safe space to express yourself freely and be accepted for
who you are.
This two-way street of understanding goes both ways:
 Active listening: Being a good friend requires actively listening to your friend's thoughts and
feelings without judgment.
 Empathy and compassion: Trying to see things from your friend's perspective fosters
empathy and compassion, strengthening the bond.
Friendships that foster understanding are enriching and irreplaceable. They provide a sense of
belonging, acceptance, and validation that are essential for emotional well-being.

 TOPIC 19:
Your definition of "going green" is a good start! It captures the essence of making environmentally
conscious choices. Here's how we can expand on it:
 Going green is more than just following a lifestyle: It's a philosophy that emphasizes
living in a way that reduces our negative impact on the environment. This can involve a
variety of actions, from using reusable bags to conserving energy or advocating for
environmental policies.
 Going green is a continuous journey: There's no single destination or point of arrival. It's
about constantly evaluating our choices and finding ways to minimize our environmental
footprint.
 Going green isn't about perfection: It's about progress. Even small changes can make a big
difference, especially when a collective effort is undertaken.
Here are some additional aspects of going green:
 Sustainability: A core principle of going green is to live within the means of the planet. This
means using resources responsibly and minimizing waste.
 Conservation: Protecting natural resources like forests, water, and wildlife is a crucial aspect
of going green.
By going green, we invest in a healthier planet for ourselves and future generations. It's a positive
and proactive approach to environmental challenges.

 TOPIC 20:
I agree that English language learning can be beneficial for Vietnam's development, but it's
important to consider a nuanced perspective. Here's a breakdown of the pros and cons:
Benefits of Teaching English in Vietnam:
 Economic Opportunities: English fluency opens doors to international business, trade, and
tourism. A skilled English-speaking workforce can attract foreign investment and create
better job opportunities for Vietnamese citizens.
 Global Connection: English is the global language of communication. Proficiency allows
Vietnamese people to access information, participate in academic exchange programs, and
connect with a wider world.
 Technological Advancement: Much of the world's scientific and technological
advancements are documented in English. English proficiency allows Vietnamese people to
access this knowledge and contribute to further innovation.
Considerations and Potential Challenges:
 Focus on Practical Application: Rote memorization and grammar drills may not be as
effective as focusing on practical communication skills relevant to students' goals.
 Teacher Training and Resources: Investing in qualified English teachers and creating
engaging learning materials is crucial for effective language acquisition.
 Importance of Vietnamese Language: Maintaining the strength and vibrancy of the
Vietnamese language should be a priority alongside English education.
Overall, a balanced approach is key. English language learning can be a valuable tool for
Vietnam's development, but it should complement, not replace, Vietnamese language education.
The focus should be on practical communication skills and fostering a love of learning languages in
general.

 TOPIC 21:
I completely agree that lifelong learning enhances both personal and social development. Here's
why:
Personal Growth:
 Keeps Your Mind Sharp: Continually learning new things challenges your brain and keeps
it active. This can improve cognitive function, memory, and problem-solving skills.
 Boosts Confidence: Mastering new skills or expanding your knowledge base fosters a sense
of accomplishment and self-confidence.
 Sparks New Interests: Lifelong learning allows you to explore new hobbies, passions, and
areas of expertise. This can lead to a more fulfilling and well-rounded life.
Social Development:
 Connects You with Others: Sharing your learning journey with others or joining
communities of like-minded learners can forge new social connections and friendships.
Learning together can be a fun and rewarding experience.
 Improves Communication Skills: Learning new things often involves expressing yourself
and engaging with different ideas. This can enhance your communication skills and make
you a more effective listener.
 Increases Empathy and Understanding: Lifelong learning exposes you to diverse
perspectives and ways of thinking. This fosters empathy and understanding for others,
leading to stronger social bonds.
Lifelong learning creates a positive cycle. As you learn and grow personally, you become more
confident and engaged socially. These stronger social connections can then motivate you to keep
learning and exploring new things.
Here are some additional points to consider:
 Learning doesn't have to be formal: It can be anything from reading a book to taking an
online course to simply engaging in conversations with people who have different
experiences.
 Lifelong learning is a journey, not a destination: It's about the joy of discovery and the
continuous process of growth.
By embracing lifelong learning, you invest in your own personal development and contribute to a
more vibrant and connected society.

 TOPIC 23:
It is a common practice for schools and colleges to have examinations to assess their students'
knowledge. Although whether tests are essential or not is still controversial, I do believe that exams
are of utmost importance to students.
On the one hand, some people claim that exams encourage teaching to the test practice which
means teaching a fixed curriculum focused on specific exams. This, as a result, leads to students'
discomfort and limited proficiency about things not included in the exams. What's more,
examinations have poor predictive quality because they only judge students' ability under set
conditions and limited time. Assessing should be made through their daily performances at school
as well as their attitude to studying. For example, many students who are very lazy at school still
getting high results thanks to cheating while the good ones may perform less well due to anxiety.
Besides, choosing exams as a way of judging the student's ability may put them under stress in
order not to disappoint their parents and teachers.
On the other hand, however, exams enable both schools and the students themselves to know the
level of their studying. They provide regular feedback to acknowledge students about their
shortcomings to work out and improve to get better. Secondly, competitive spirits are promoted
through exams. If they want to have good performances, they will need to enrich their knowledge
and push themselves harder. For example, to keep up with the peer and fulfilthemselves gives
students thể incentive to try harder to get high scores. Finally, exams can be considered as a way
of revision, requiring students to thoroughly understand and master at what they have learned.
Without testing being compulsory, maybe the students will have no motivations as well as
responsibility to expand their expertise.
In conclusion, although assessing students' ability through different exams does bring some
disadvantages, I personally feel that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks mentioned above.

 TOPIC 24:
There are a number of serious challenges facing the world today, including:
 Climate change: This is arguably the biggest threat, with potentially devastating
consequences for ecosystems, economies, and societies.
 Nuclear proliferation: The risk of nuclear war, even if accidental, is a constant concern.
 Resource depletion: We are using up resources like water and fossil fuels at an
unsustainable rate.
 Inequality: The gap between rich and poor is widening, leading to social unrest and
instability.
 Emerging technologies: New technologies like artificial intelligence have the potential to do
great good, but also raise ethical concerns.
However, there are also reasons to be optimistic:
 Increased awareness: There is growing public awareness of these challenges, which is the
first step to solving them.
 Global cooperation: Countries are working together more than ever before to address global
problems.
 Technological advancements: Innovations in areas like renewable energy and sustainable
agriculture could help us address some of the biggest challenges.
On a scale of agree-disagree, it's a complex issue. The world certainly faces dangers, but it's not
inevitable that they will overwhelm us. Here are some ways we can make the world safer for future
generations:
 Invest in sustainable solutions: We need to transition to renewable energy sources, develop
more sustainable agricultural practices, and conserve resources.
 Promote global cooperation: Countries need to work together to address climate change,
nuclear proliferation, and other global challenges.
 Reduce inequality: A more equitable world will be a more stable and prosperous world.
 Prepare for the future: We need to invest in research and development to ensure we are
prepared for the challenges and opportunities that new technologies present.
 Empower individuals: Educating and empowering people around the world is crucial to
solving global problems.
By working together, we can make the world a safer and more prosperous place for future
generations.

 TOPIC 25:
It's a common perception, but the link between development and self-centeredness is complex.
Here's a breakdown:
Possible connection:
 Individualism: Developed societies often emphasize individualism and self-reliance. This
can lead to a focus on personal goals and achievements, potentially appearing self-centered.
 Materialism: Economic prosperity can foster a focus on material possessions and personal
success, potentially overshadowing concern for others.
 Social media: Social media platforms can contribute to a self-centered culture by
encouraging self-promotion and comparing oneself to others.
But it's not a clear-cut cause and effect:
 Community still exists: Developed societies also have strong social safety nets, charities,
and volunteer movements, highlighting a sense of community and concern for others.
 Global perspective: Increased global interconnectedness can foster empathy and
understanding of different cultures and challenges.
Here's a more nuanced view:
 Shifting values: Developed societies might see a shift from traditional communal values to
individual achievement. This isn't necessarily bad, but it can create the impression of self-
centeredness.
 Focus on different aspects of self: Individualism can also empower people to pursue their
goals and passions, leading to a more well-rounded sense of self.
Overall, the relationship between development and self-centeredness is debatable. Developed
societies might see a rise in individualism, but it doesn't automatically translate to a lack of concern
for others.
 TOPIC 26:
I disagree with the statement that television has destroyed communication among friends and
family. While it's true that excessive TV watching can be detrimental, television itself can be a tool
for connection and doesn't have to be the sole culprit behind communication issues. Here's why:
 Shared experiences: Television can provide common ground for conversation. Discussing a
show you both watched, a documentary you found interesting, or even a funny commercial
can spark conversation and shared laughter.
 Connecting across distances: Shows can connect people who aren't together. Talking about
the latest episode of a favorite series with long-distance friends or family creates a shared
experience even if you're miles apart. Video calls while watching something together can
further enhance this connection.
 Educational opportunities: Documentaries and educational shows can be a springboard for
discussions about important topics, current events, or historical events. This can lead to
learning new things together and fostering deeper understanding.
However, television can also be a hindrance to communication if not used mindfully:
 Passive consumption: Passively watching TV for hours can replace active conversation and
shared activities. This can lead to a feeling of disconnection, especially if it becomes a habit.
 Attention competition: The constant stream of content on television can compete for our
attention, making it harder to focus on conversations with loved ones who might be in the
same room.
Finding balance is key. Here are some tips:
 Set limits on TV time: This allows for dedicated time to connect with friends and family.
 Engage with what you watch: Discuss shows, documentaries, or movies with others,
turning them into conversation starters.
 Make alternative plans: Instead of defaulting to TV, plan activities that encourage
interaction, like board games, playing music together, or simply talking.
Television is a tool, and like any tool, it depends on how we use it. By being mindful of its potential
drawbacks and using it strategically, television can even enhance communication and connection.

 TOPIC 27:
The statement "Travelling to other countries expands a man's horizons" has some truth to it, but it's
a bit narrow-minded. Here's a breakdown:
Pros:
 Broadened perspective: Travel exposes you to different cultures, customs, and ways of life.
This challenges your existing worldview and fosters understanding and empathy.
 Personal growth: Experiencing new things, navigating unfamiliar situations, and
overcoming language barriers builds confidence, resilience, and resourcefulness.
 Lifelong learning: Travel is a constant learning experience. You encounter new histories,
cuisines, art forms, and traditions, enriching your knowledge base.
Cons of the statement:
 Gender exclusivity: Using "man" excludes women and non-binary people. Travel expands
everyone's horizons, regardless of gender.
 Focus on destination: The statement emphasizes reaching a foreign destination, not the
quality of the experience. A shallow tourist experience might not broaden horizons as much
as a deeper cultural immersion.
More inclusive way to phrase it:
 "Travelling to other countries expands our understanding of the world."
 "Exploring different cultures broadens one's perspective."
Ultimately, travel is a valuable experience that can benefit people of all genders and backgrounds.
It's about the journey of discovery, not just the destination.

 TOPIC 28:
. I completely agree. Man's interference is a major driver of extinction in the animal kingdom.
Here's a closer look:
Human impact on extinction:
 Habitat destruction: Clearing land for agriculture, urbanization, and resource extraction
destroys animal habitats, forcing species out of their homes and disrupting their way of life.
 Overexploitation: Excessive hunting, fishing, and poaching can push vulnerable populations
over the edge, leading to extinction.
 Climate change: Human activity is causing rapid changes in global temperatures, weather
patterns, and ocean acidification. This disrupts ecosystems and makes it difficult for some
species to adapt.
 Invasive species: The introduction of non-native species can compete with native animals
for resources, prey on them, or introduce diseases.
Examples of extinction due to human interference:
 The Passenger Pigeon: Once abundant in North America, excessive hunting drove them to
extinction by the early 20th century.
 The Dodo: This flightless bird from Mauritius disappeared due to hunting and introduced
predators brought by humans.
 The Tasmanian Tiger: Habitat loss and hunting by European settlers led to the extinction of
this iconic Australian marsupial in the early 20th century.
It's not all bad news:
 Conservation efforts: There are many organizations working to protect endangered species
and restore habitats. These efforts offer hope for the future of many animals.
 Sustainable practices: Promoting sustainable agriculture, responsible fishing, and reducing
our carbon footprint can lessen our impact on the environment and help preserve
biodiversity.
The situation is serious, but it's not too late to act. By acknowledging our role in extinction and
taking steps to change our behavior, we can work towards a future where humans and wildlife can
coexist in harmony.

 TOPIC 29:
I absolutely agree! Volunteering is a two-way street with benefits that ripple outwards, positively
impacting both society and the volunteers themselves. Here's a breakdown of the advantages:
Society benefits from volunteers in many ways:
 Meeting community needs: Volunteers fill crucial gaps in social services, education,
environmental protection, and animal welfare. They provide essential support to those in
need and contribute to a stronger, more vibrant community.
 Fresh ideas and perspectives: Volunteers bring new skills, experiences, and enthusiasm to
organizations. This can lead to innovative solutions and improved services.
 Cost-effective support: Volunteers supplement the work of paid staff, allowing
organizations to extend their reach and impact without a significant increase in expenditure.
Volunteers also reap many rewards:
 Personal fulfillment: Helping others and seeing the positive impact of their work brings a
sense of purpose and satisfaction.
 Skill development: Volunteering can provide opportunities to learn new skills, gain
experience, and build a resume.
 Social connection: Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, make friends, and
combat social isolation.
 Improved mental and physical health: Studies show that volunteering can reduce stress,
boost self-esteem, and even improve physical health.
Overall, volunteering creates a win-win situation. It strengthens the social fabric, empowers
individuals, and fosters a more compassionate and engaged society.

 TOPIC 30:
You're absolutely right. Traffic jams and accidents are major challenges in Vietnam. Here's a closer
look at the problem and some potential solutions:
Reasons for traffic congestion and accidents in Vietnam:
 Rapid growth in motorbikes: The number of motorbikes has surged in recent years,
exceeding road capacity in many areas.
 Poor infrastructure: Roads are often narrow, lack proper lanes, and have inadequate traffic
signals, especially outside major cities.
 Disregard for traffic rules: Inconsistent enforcement and a lack of traffic safety education
contribute to reckless driving and accidents.
Possible solutions:
 Improved infrastructure: Investing in wider roads, designated lanes for different vehicles,
and clear signage can improve traffic flow.
 Public transportation: Developing a reliable and efficient public transportation system can
encourage people to leave their motorbikes at home.
 Traffic enforcement: Stricter enforcement of traffic laws and harsher penalties for
violations can deter reckless driving.
 Traffic safety education: Public awareness campaigns and educational programs in schools
can promote responsible driving habits.
 Alternative transportation options: Encouraging cycling and walking through dedicated
lanes and infrastructure can reduce reliance on motorbikes.
Additional factors to consider:
 Urban planning: Creating walkable and bikeable cities with mixed-use development can
reduce reliance on cars and motorbikes for short trips.
 Technology: Utilizing intelligent transportation systems to manage traffic flow and alert
drivers to congestion points can improve efficiency.
Solving this complex issue requires a multi-pronged approach. By investing in infrastructure,
promoting public transportation, enforcing traffic laws, and educating the public, Vietnam can
create a safer and more efficient transportation system.

 TOPIC 31:
I disagree with the statement that women will never be equal to men in the workplace. Here's why:
 Progress is happening: The gender gap in the workplace is demonstrably shrinking. More
women are attaining higher education, entering leadership roles, and starting businesses.
 Skills and qualifications matter: In an ideal workplace, promotions and opportunities are
based on merit, not gender. Women are bringing strong skills and qualifications to the table.
 Benefits of diversity: Studies show that companies with greater gender diversity outperform
those without it. Women bring different perspectives and experiences that lead to better
decision-making and innovation.
There are still challenges, of course:
 Unconscious bias: Implicit biases against women can hold them back from promotions and
opportunities.
 Work-life balance issues: Societal expectations can make it harder for women to balance
work and family responsibilities, limiting their career advancement.
 Unequal pay: The gender pay gap persists in many industries.
However, these challenges can be addressed through:
 Diversity and inclusion initiatives: Companies that actively promote diversity and inclusion
create a fairer environment for everyone.
 Parental leave policies: Offering generous parental leave policies for both mothers and
fathers allows for more equal sharing of childcare responsibilities.
 Pay transparency and equity audits: Transparency around salaries and regular reviews can
help identify and address gender pay gaps.
Equality takes time and effort, but the trend is moving in the right direction. With continued focus
on dismantling barriers and promoting equal opportunities, women can achieve parity in the
workplace.

 TOPIC 1: (trang 5)
There is no doubt that many things had changed in the last few decades; some changes are for
betterment and some changes are for worse. One of the fields which were greatly affected by the
advent of technology is the way of interaction and communication.
Without any doubt, technology has changed the way we lead our lives and these changes are
prominent over the last decade. There are several improvements in life due to the positive effects of
technology and there are some negative impacts as well. One area that has dramatically changed is
the way we communicate and maintain our relationship nowadays. And in my opinion, technology
has positively affected our communication and the way we make relationships and maintain it.
Despite some negative effects, most of us enjoy the positive things the technology has bought for
us. In the past, the ways of interaction were very limited. Unleash your imagination; if you want to
speak with your friend, you would have to go directly to his house or send him a message which
may take a few days to get a response. I completely believe that technology has a great tangible
effect on our communication. Nowadays, it's very easy to interact with your relatives -and even with
the government and organisations- either by emails, mobiles, chatting, etc. and I think that this has
improved the relationships and enhanced it.
We no longer need to visit a relative or friend to get updates. Alternatively, we can let them know
our updates instantly. Besides personal communications, official and business communications have
become easier. Email campaign offers a good marketing opportunity for business owners and people
can complain about a certain thing using emails without exposing their identity. Not all of the
people have the availability of technology and they still use the old form of communication. People
now can deceive others using identity theft and fraud identity. The personal touch of communication
like handwritten letters, face-to-face communications were more effective in some cases. Like
meeting your friend is still more important than just writing him an email. We make so many
friends via chatting or social networking which would not have been possible without the
advancement of technology and its contribution to the communication. Cell phones, emails and
social networking have enhanced the way of communicating and we can talk to anyone with a
minimum cost. It's now not unusual to prepare for a visit and even several visits to your relatives
and friends on the same day, while in the past this may have taken several weeks or months.
To conclude, despite all that, I still see some failings in the development of the means of interaction.
For instance, the very high cost each person spends every day on communication. Another defect,
many elder people are not accustomed to this modern technology. But that doesn't have a great
effect on the positive role technology has made in the field of interaction between people and I think
these defects are very easy to be solved.

 TOPIC 2:
In today's modern world, numerous researches have been conducted around the globe in order to
improve the personality and the development of an individual. There is one recent research which
has clearly shown that the personality and development of a person are highly likely to depend on
the characteristics that they are born with as compared to other experiences in their life. However, I
believe experiences of a person will have a greater impact on one's personality and development.
Undoubtedly, if we could utilise the experience we gain from working or travelling abroad, we
would be more mature and more open-minded. Whenever we arrive in a new place, we can learn the
cultures and traditions from the locals in order to acquire more information about the lifestyles of
others and eventually become more knowledgeable. Besides, we may learn how to respect and not
to criticise the customs of other races which may be slightly or totally different from ours. By doing
so, we can actually get benefited by being able to look at the problems from a various perspective.
We may also become more self-independent than others if we live in a harsh environment when we
were young. To illustrate, in China, many children have to sacrifice their studies and come out to
work since they were small. They are proved to have the ability to make more mature decisions on
their own in a research conducted in China between those who are affluent and those who live in
poverty. Moreover, people who face a lot of hardships in their lives will have a detailed plan of what
to do next. For instance, they will organise their expenditure well, which in other words, they will
not spend money on unnecessary things, especially those luxurious items. Therefore, it is apparent
that experiences gained from a various field in their lives have a huge influence on one's personality
and development.
In conclusion, I am of the opinion that life experience has major consequences on our personalities
and developments than the characteristics that we are born with. We will be able to think from
different perspectives and make wise decisions if we use the experiences that we gained in our daily
live.

 TOPIC 4:
I personally think, engaging children in some sorts of paid works is always open for debate. This is
a topical question nowadays. Both education and job are essential for children in which successful
job is obtained through the quality of education. “Children engaged in some kinds of paid works” is
similar to a coin which has two sides.
On one hand, every child must be educated firstly, so that the child may have exposed to all types of
subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social-Science etc. So when children grow, they may have the
right to choose the field they are most interested in and may enhance the knowledge that supports to
implement the skills learned to create miracles in the challenging world. If a child was not educated
and engaged in some paid works results in no exposure to such fields and adheres to chores child
indulged.
On the other hand, it is always rudimentary to have responsibilities for a child if he comes up with
poor background or poverty. So, here the financial condition of a family forces the child to get
involved in paid works. Fortunately having a job in childhood, adds huge valuable experience to
the personality. If the child was gifted with some entrepreneurship skills, this experience helps a lot
to establish own industry and will have an opportunity to provide jobs for other people in need.
Apart from that learning helps a lot and plays a vital role here. For instance, he can solve any
problem on his own through learning and experience.
Finally, to conclude, education is essential for every child to gain knowledge regarding various
aspects and implementing them in the desired field though paid works add experience at that young
age.

 TOPIC 3:
The topic of whether boys and girls should be taught in mixed schools has been a contentious issue
ever since the initiation of women’s rights movements. Some argue that the practice of teaching
boys and girls in the same school should be upheld, while others refute this. Both sides of this
debate will be analysed in this essay before a reasoned conclusion is drawn.
In one camp, it is believed that educating boys and girls in a co-education system reaps numerous
bounties. For example, most women rights activists contend that instructing males and females
together enhances the understanding between the two genders. This equips members of both
genders with the necessary skills which can later be transferred into their personal lives, and as
result enjoy a higher degree of matrimonial bliss. Thus, it is clear why many people support the idea
of co-education.
On the other hand, many consider the practice of educating girls and boys separately is best. For
example, Saudi Arabia is often mocked for its conservative culture. Despite this, Saudi Arabia has
one of the lowest rape and sexual assault rates in the world. One of the reasons cited for this is the
segregation on the basis of gender in the educational institutes. When looking at this side of the
debate, the benefits that are derived from separate schools for girls and boys can be seen.
Although both sides of this argument have indisputable virtues, it is felt that practice of educating
male and female pupils in the same school is much more of a positive development than negative.
Therefore, it is hoped that the trend of co-education schools will continue to be the norm the world
over into the foreseeable future.

 TOPIC 5:
There is too much debate about whether children should be learned to be more competitive or
cooperative members of society. In my opinion, both behaviours are important and cooperation is
more important than competition.
On one hand, as we live in the very competitive society, we need to teach our children the sense of
competition in a positive way. The most obvious advantage to encourage competition among
children is that it makes them more creative and open minded and opens the doors for better future
opportunities for them. For illustration, children work hard in the study because they compete with
other classmates to receive high marks, this will help them to get a very good job in the future.
Moreover, they become more independent and rely on themselves because they know that nobody
else will be there to do their duties.
On the other hand, I believe that cooperation is mandatory to be encouraged for many reasons.
Firstly, cooperation helps children to learn from each other. For example, when I was at school
team, I learned how to play table tennis with my friends and we learn a lot of skills from each
other and when we play in the final round with other school teams, we get a very good score in the
final. Secondly, cooperation teaches children the skills linked to sharing, as a result, they become a
kind member of society. Finally, cooperation is the key component for better personality as well as
prevent from individuality.
To sum up, both cooperation and competition have their own advantages. However, I tend to think
that cooperation should be encouraged more in children.

 TOPIC 6:

 TOPIC 7: festival
Well, to start off, I would like to describe Tet, which is the most crucial national festival of
Vietnam. In Vietnamese culture, Tết marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year. It usually lasts
three days but celebrations continue for at least the first week of the New Year.
Moving on to the next question, in my opinion, the primary reason for its appearance is that Tet is a
special occasion for family reunions as well as for celebrating the arrival of spring.
To celebrate the New Year, we do lots of things together. Before New Year’s Eve, we prepare some
local specialties, such as Chưng cake, Vietnamese sausage and dried candied fruits to worship our
ancestors and then enjoy during Tet. Houses are thoroughly cleaned out and then nicely furnished in
the hopes of getting rid of the past year’s bad lucks. Additionally, many families usually decorate
their houses with Kumquat trees, Apricot or Peach blossom and parallel sentences that are believed
to bring luckiness, happiness and prosperity to them in the New Year.
All members in a family gather together and have parties to ring in the New Year. During Tết, there
are a lot of customs practiced, such as giving lucky money to children, visiting friends’ houses and
going to churches, temples or pagodas to make good prays for their family.
If there’s time left, I would like to explain its importance to our culture and me. With Vietnamese,
Tết is vital as it’s avery meaningful tradition to welcome the New Year. And it’s more important
because Tet is the time for families and relatives to gather under the same roof for rekindling love
and bonding. For me, I always long for Tet as it’s the longest holiday, which can help me recover
my battery after a long working year.

 TOPIC 10:
This is such a tough topic for me because, frankly speaking, I was more of a “homely” child who
didn’t exactly like to get out of his home except for just going to school. In other words, I didn’t
really have many hobbies, which required me to go outside of the home, other than watching
cartoons. Then again, watching cartoon itself can also be considered a hobby. Isn’t it?
Not sure, why exactly I adopted this hobby, but I guess that it must have something to do with
the cat that I raised as my pet. So, when I first saw “Tom and Jerry” (the famous Disney cartoon)
and found out that the cat named “Tom” was getting into trouble just like my little pet cat, I
became hooked on it. After that, of course, I have seen many, many other cartoons, but I never
found them as funny as “Tom and Jerry”.
But that didn’t stop me from watching those cartoons during my childhood because they always
stimulated my mind and brain to draw some sort of parallel between a real world, in which we
live, and the imaginary world, in which the cartoon characters live, only to find out, of course,
that the world, in which we live, is not as rosy and nice as they try to portray in cartoons.
I adopted this hobby also because my parents didn’t really want me to go out too much, lest I
would get influenced by bad company or social elements. So, I guess that I didn’t have any other
option except to keep liking watching the cartoons because it at least kept my parents happy
while I also kept getting my favourite chips and the toys for my pet cat.
Anyway, watching cartoon is not my hobby anymore because, for better or worse, I have grown
much older to figure out that even though cartoons can make us laugh, they don’t do anything to
solve our real-world problems. Besides, now I have found much better hobbies to try, and they
are way more interesting than “Tom and Jerry”.

 TOPIC 11:
The usage of social networking websites and applications like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
TikTok etc. has dramatically increased recently with the advancement of technology. Although it
has some detrimental effects on society, its positive side has transformed the world. I believe this
technology has a significant contribution in bringing people closer around the globe and also acts as
a source of cheap and efficient means for communication and staying connected.
It is true that with the increasing use of social networking websites, some people have become
disjointed and fragmented. Youngsters are more receptive to this change as they like to spend most
of their time on these sites. This has led to many negative consequences on their physical and
psychological health. Moreover, families are greatly affected by this and their social bonding is no
more present in contemporary days.
Nevertheless, social networking sites play a pivotal role in mitigating the communication gap not
only in the immediate social circle but also with friends and families in remote areas. Furthermore,
many social groups exist on such sites which help people find persons of the same interests and
attitudes without confiding them to only geographical boundaries. It has recently been seen that
many injustices and social issues were shared on social networking sites, and that made an overall
huge impact. That has brought justice to the victims in several instances. Moreover, social
networking sites are a common ground for mass people to share their updates, views and other
details. Thus this has created a world without any boundaries.
To conclude, I would like to say that people have become more social and interactive through the
use of social networking sites. It gives people a sense of freedom to talk around the world without
worrying about the huge cost. It is expected that we would try to mitigate its negative sides and reap
the maximum benefits of staying connected.
