trailers to reach the desired location /launching location and should be as per HSE manual/
method statement.
ii. ground shall be well compacted around the casting bed and piers before the cranes &trailer
is placed. All due precautions as per the standard practices/ method statement shall be
taken.

c. shifting of PSC girders either by cranes or by using modular trailers (as per annexure-
A-I)

i. In case it is possible to shift the girders from the casting bed to the erection location in
one / two swings then cranes will be deployed for shifting. else, the modular trailer will be
placed near the casting bed and the two cranes shall be so placed that the girder can be
lifted at the two ends and placed at the Centre of the trailer. it will be ensured that girder
rest only at two points on the modular trailer and not all along its length.
ii. Before the cranes leave the girder on to the trailer the same will be secured properly on to
the modular trailer with help of chains and belts to be tightened with turn buckles.
iii. Having completed the loading of PSC girder the same shall be moved to the erection site
taking full safety precautions.

d. fixing of POT-PTFE bearings:

i. Just before erection of the girder, the same shall be held, by the two cranes, at about 30 m
above the ground level for fixing of POT-PTFE bearings under the bottom flange of the
girder erection activity will commence after fixing of these bearings only.

e. erection of PSC girder at site:

i. place the two cranes as shown in the drawing. (As per annexure –A-I)
ii. bring the modular trailer duly loaded with PSC girder in between the cranes as shown in the
drawing, in case the girder is shifted by using trailer.
iii. Lift the girder of trailer or from the ground as the case may be.
iv. Place the girder on to the wooden sleepers its final location.
v. Secure the girder on to the pier with help of temporary A-frame and release the girder off
the lifting shackles .(as per annexure A-III)
vi. Subsequently grout the bearings with GP-2non shrinkable / approved grout material.
vii. Once the grout attains its full strength, the wooden sleepers will be removed by use of
screw jacks.

Repeat the above procedure for erection of all the girders in the same span and for all the

spans in a bridge before moving to the next location.
