General Customer Replacement Part Guide
for ObjectScale XF960
The Storage Disk and Power Supply Unit are customer-replaceable parts on ObjectScale XF960. The Power Supply Unit, Fan,
Cables, and SFPs are customer-replaceable parts on the S5448F-ON switch. For all other replacement procedures on the
ObjectScale XF960, and to replace the full S5448F-ON switch, contact Dell Support for assistance.

Prerequisites
Ensure that you carry out the following:
● Contact Dell at https://www.dell.com/support or your support provider to order the replacement parts.
● Identify the physical location of the racks where parts are to be replaced.
● Validate access to the ObjectScale user interface and log in to the ObjectScale with Admin or Operations Admin permissions.
● Obtain the nonpriv user password required to upgrade all firmware.
Prerequisites
Ensure that you have the following before you begin:
● Replacement disk or disks onsite. If you do not have the replacement disks onsite, contact Dell Support and ensure that the
replacement disk has been ordered
● Admin or operations admin permissions. Go to Administration > Security Settings > Management Users to verify your
permissions.

5. Select Disks in the left pan to display all the disks in the cluster, and then click the filter icon in the Status column. .
6. In Status, click Bad or Suspect for any disks that show Drive health Bad" or "Suspect in DriveHeathFailure output., and
then go to Operational Status. .
Ready to Eject status indicates that the drive is ready to physically replace. If the drive is not ready to be replaced it
stays in Recovery status for up to 24 hours, depending on disk size and the amount of data stored on the disk.
7. When the UI displays Ready to Ejectselect the radio button to the left of the target drive to be replaced and select
"Eject Disk.
Ensure that you have a replacement drive available.
8. Click Eject Disk.
Ready for Physical Removal displays in the Operational Status field.
Locate the node containing the failed disk by the blue blinking identification LED in the left panel.
Locate the failed drive by the green blinking status (left) LED indicator. The green LED light blinks twice every 1 second.
Steps
1. Connect to and log in to the ObjectScale UI using https://<IP>:4443 .
2. Go to Dashboard.
3. Click View.
4. Click View to display the specific disk error in the Alerts pane.
The Resource ID field indicates PSU, Reason indicates PSU, and Message fields provide failed Power Supply details.

1. Go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us?app=manuals.
2. In Identify your product, type PowerEdge R760.
3. Select Documentation > Manuals and Documents, and then in the list of documents available, select Dell PowerEdge
R760 Installation and Service Manual.
4. Go to Installing and removing system components, and locate the physical replacement procedure for the replacement part
that you want to replace.
Use the Drive Carrier and Drive Replacement procedures for the Storage Disk replacement.
Use the power supply procedures for the power supply replacement.
5. Complete the physical replacement steps.

4. Go to Installing and removing system components, and locate the physical replacement procedure for the replacement part
that you want to replace.

Steps
1. Check the firmware version running on your system for support compatibility with XF960.
The ObjectScale XF960 Firmware Matrix provides information on correct firmware versions.
2. If ObjectScale XF960 does not support the firmware version running on your system, upgrade accordingly.

Steps
1. In Nodes, the nodes status is visible.
2. In Disks, the disks status is visible.
Steps
1. From the ObjectScale portal user interface, click Alerts.
By default, alerts with Normal severity are hidden.
2. Click Show All to view all alerts.
All alerts, including alerts that are hidden, are displayed. The following descriptions are shown for each alert.
● Severity
● Message
● ResourceID
● SymptomID
● Reason
● Component
You can filter alerts using the drop-down with the following options:
● Last 24 hours
● Last 7 days
● Last 30 days
● Show All
Steps
1. From the ObjectScale portal user interface, click Alerts
Alerts are displayed with regular alerts hidden.
2. Click Show All to view all alerts.
3. Click the box to the left of the alert that you want to acknowledge, and click Acknowledge.
When you acknowledge the alert, it clears the alert from the Alerts pane.
A message appears asking you to confirm Acknowledge Alert.
4. Click Yes if you want to acknowledge and clear the alert from the Alerts pane. Click No if you do not want to acknowledge
and clear the alert from the Alerts pane.
If you clicked Yes, a message appears in the upper right indicating that the Alert or alerts were acknowledged successfully.
5. To view acknowledged alerts, click Show All in the upper left of the Alerts pane and select the wanted time period.
Alerts do not display once the selected time period is exceeded. For example, alerts created 25 hours ago display in the Last
7 Days filter, not in the Last 24 Hours filter.
You must manually acknowledge alerts to change the severity level of them from Critical to Normal.
