BASIC TENETS

1. Language is central to all learning

2. Language develops mainly through purposeful use

3. Integration of content and language facilitates effective language learning.

4. Subject teachers too can contribute lot to lhe development of the language

proficiency of the learner.

5. Learner’s potential is more prominent than teacher’s potential.

6. Process is more important than the product, meaning is more important than

form

9. Should be learner centered, not traditional like teacher centered

NEED AND SCOPE
1. Provide opportunities for better comprehension and making use of knowledge/

language.

2. Supports language development in all levels and each school activities.

3. Supports meaningful learning.

4. Provide same kind of educational experience for all with regard to learning of

language.

5. Develops multilingualism by becoming culturally sensitive and

knowledgeable.

6. Helps schools to mentor confident language users.

7. Develops autonomous learners capable of linking their language with their

learning.

8. Allow all teachers to work towards a common goal.


NEED AND SCOPE- In the case of Students

1. Most of the students are not able to use language foreign language even after

completing graduation as well as post graduation with higher grades.

2. Assignments become xerox copies because of language deficiency.

3. Most of the research scholars are not able to write their thesis themselves, so

plagiarism goes on being practiced by academic community mainly on account of

the inability to use foreign language.

4. Most of the students struggle to get admitted to foreign universities because of

language deficiency in communicating in the foreign language.

5. Foreign language is an inevitable factor in handling modern technologies.

6. The new career trends are in need of people who are fluent in foreign language.
NEED AND SCOPE- In the case of Teachers

1. A huge majority of teachers at present are struggling when using the foreign

language

2. Most of the teachers are practicing adjustment teaching in classroom.

3. Students tend to follow the wrong model of the teachers.

4. Most of the teachers are not able to make use of modern technology because they

lack command in foreign language.

5. Most of the teachers are not able to give clear instructions, as they lack authority in

foreign language

6. Most of the teachers do not encourage clarification of doubts by students as they are

not confident enough to have on the spot conversation in foreign language.

7. Most of the teachers are not able to manage group activities effectively, as they lack

communication skill in foreign language.

8. Most of the teachers are providing market notes to students because of their

deficiency.

9. Most of the teachers do not know how to praise students in foreign language
ADVANTAGES

1. It helps the learner to improve their communication skills in the foreign language.

2. It helps the students to learn content more effectively.

3. It helps the learners discuss different issues in foreign language.

4. 1t helps the learners to collect technical terms related to different subjects.

5. It helps the learners to expand their ideas.

6. It helps the students to submit their original assignments free of plagiansm.

7. It opens a vast career world before the students

DISADVANTAGES

1. Painful shift in higher education.

2. Connecting with the rest of world is difficult.

3. Pupil to be conversant with English in their younger age of development.

4. Pupils do not learn English from beginning hey are likely to have difficulty in learning

LAC at later stage.

5. Practical problem of making text books of high quality content for LAC is difficult.

6. Education without LAC as the medium of instruction is said not to bring a sense of

national integration among the students.

7. Language switching is just an indicator for an inter language, a temporary status of

language competence, with the foreign language developing further through the continuing

lessons, the use of the mother tongue can be reduced.

8. When students are not using their native language and mother tongue, they use the other

Language like English.

9. This is the problem if in a specific locality there can be more language sused as mother

tongue.

10. It is important for language teachers and content subject teachers to each know what the

other is doing For instance, the English teacher can teach students how to do a vocabulary

log. The content subject teachers then asks students to keep a vocabulary log for their own

subject

11. As every subject has to contribute to the language development of students, a balance

between an emphasis on language and an emphasis on content is recommended.

12. Since more time and effort has to be spent on the development of students language

proficiency, the subject Content may have to be reduced, especially at the initial stages
