SRAD (Suzuki Ram Air Direct)
GSX-R750 (T) 1996

Model year 1996 of the Suzuki GSX-R750.

The 1996 model featured a new double-spar chassis, derived from that used in the RGV 500
World Motorcycle Championship. It also featured a new, compact and lightweight engine,
which used magnesium in certain components to reduce weight. No less than 20 kg were
lost, reaching 179 kg, with a power of 128 HP. With this model, the overweight problems
that had affected the GSXR since the introduction of the water-cooled engine were finally
solved. Other features were the electronic control of the carburetor battery and new 43 mm
diameter inverted forks, fully adjustable, but the main innovation is the SRAD (Suzuki Ram
Air Direct), a supercharging system that increases power as the the speed increases, acting
in the same way as a mechanical volumetric compressor, but using only the dynamic
pressure of the intake air.
