It is the main temple of the city known as the Mother Church of the “Holy Trinity”,
located on one side of the Plaza de Armas. It is a modern and slender building of
neoclassical architecture, with a 42-meter-high tower. The work began in 1942 and
was inaugurated on December 8, 1945. In 1960, what is the “nave” of the church
was built and two enormous and beautiful bells were placed in the bell tower,
baptized with the names “María Carmen” and “Trinidad”, made in Spain and a
smaller one built in Italy in 1909 that they recently took it down and placed it on one
side of the altar. Here is the image of the Lord of Agony, authentic patron of Sullana,
his image is located on the right side entering through the main door of the Church.
It is said that during the war with Chile, a Mapocho sergeant named Balmaceda
came to loot the city, entering the temple to steal religious articles; but when he
reached the door he met the gaze of the Lord of Agony and was petrified. No one
knows for sure how this image appears. What is true is that every January 6 there
was a popular festival in honor of him, with novenas and fairs. Over the years it
would transform into what the Kings of Sullana fair is today.
It is one of the most beautiful and welcoming places in the city, it has a pool named
“Pedro Fernández”, designed with jets that shoot water up to the dome,
accompanied by colored lights that vary chronometrically. On one side there is a
monument to Francisco Bolognesi.
with the first bust of Miguel Grau , at the national level. The bust is a true artistic
jewel masterfully sculpted in Carrara marble (Italy). It is located in Plaza Grau de
Sullana, located on Av. José de Lama and Enrique Palacios.

Located 13 km. from the city of Sullana, on the right side of the road that leads to Paita
and in the Miguel Checa district, whose capital is the town of Sojo
The Sojo mansion was declared a monumental heritage of the nation by RS No. 505-
74-ED of October 15, 1974.
In 1910, Don Miguel Checa hired a Mexican architect and began the construction of the
Sojo hacienda house, with a model similar to an existing house in Mexico. The material
used was Guayaquil cane, adobe and marble.
This beautiful house has 36 rooms and complementary environments that are stately in
type, predominating a republican neoclassical style, notable on its front. Inside, it has
two beautiful stairs, which, starting equidistant from its base, converge on the second
floor, starting a series of rooms. The stands are made of Italian Carrara marble.
Built on a hill, from the second floor of the house you can see the extensive Chira
valley. It is easy to get to via Sullana Paita. (TRIPOD, s.f.)

Pizarro, upon arriving in the domains of Cacique Tangarará, founded the city of San
Miguel on July 15, 1532, and on December 7, 1537, King Carlos V of Valladolid,
granted him the Coat of Arms.
Tangarará is located in the Marcavelica District, about 15 kilometers from the City of
Sullana on the right bank of the Chira River. The place that Tangarará occupies is one
of the most beautiful corners of the Chira valley. Currently, Tangarará has the category
of Villa, but remains submerged in abandonment. However, it is a picturesque corner.
