Over the last ten years, western societies have seen close to a 20% rise in the

diet. Over the last decade there has been an increase in the number of fast-food
restaurants. For example, on nearly every high street there is a MacDonald’s,

ready-made meals which are a quick and easy option for parents who are busy. The
effects of this have been and will continue to be very serious. Firstly, there has been
a large increase in health-related diseases amongst children, especially diabetes.
This debilitating illness means a child must be injected with insulin for the rest of their
life. Secondly, very overweight children often experience bullying from other children,
which may affect their mental health. Society must take steps to prevent this problem
from worsening further.

In the next 30 years, we are likely to see many changes in transportation
technology, which can make traveling faster and more convenient. Here is a preview
of what’s coming in the world of transportation.
Autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs): are essentially autonomous human-carrying
drones. They are designed for transporting passengers. These flying vehicles use
Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) through horizontal rotors, which require no
runway. AAVs will take people off congested roadways to their destinations on direct
routes. By this means of transport, people can save a lot of travel time.
Hoverbikes: are designed with the aim of providing a method of mobility that
alleviates street traffic for short distance travel. These vehicles need humans to ride
and control them. However, you won’t need a pilot’s license or even a motorcycle
license to operate one because this vehicle floats just a short way into the air and it
has numerous safety features, including a computer-controlled system for stabilizing
the craft and laser scanners for detecting and avoiding obstacles.
The Hyperloop: is designed for longer transportation between cities, countries or
even continents. The principle of the Hyperloop is based on the movement of people
in capsules or pods that travel with high speeds though tubes over long distances.
Hyperloops will be a popular form of transportation in the near future.

The idea of a driverless car is not new. Now there are already cars on the road
that can park themselves. But a truly self-driving car, one that can drive itself, is being
tested by scientists and engineers.
Self-driving cars have already been tested on public roads. These cars not
only record images of the road, but their computerized maps view road signs, find

alternative routes and see traffic lights even before they are seen by a person. By
using radars and cameras, the cars can analyze information about their surroundings
faster than a human can.
In some of the tests, the car learns the details of a road by driving on it several
times, and when it is time to drive itself, it can identify when there are pedestrians
crossing and then stops to let them pass by. Self-driving cars could make transport
safer for all of us by eliminating the cause of most of today’s accidents.
Although self-driving cars may seem far off, some people believe that there will
be driverless cars in showrooms in about 10 years.

Read the following passage and choose the best option A, B, C, or D to
indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.
Can you think of a day without music? “Oh, that’s not possible!” you may say.
There is music everywhere in our daily life: at home, in a concert hall, in parks, at the
seaside and even in the forest. But in the forest, of course, it is better to listen to birds
singing and other natural sounds like the wind in the trees.
People cannot live without music. They listen to music, they dance to music, and
they learn to play musical instruments.
Musical educators at schools are very important. There is special literature for
music teachers and for all people who are interested in it.
Specialists explain it very well, and we can understand everything, especially
if music is performed to illustrate their talks. Music isn’t a combination of pleasant
sounds only. It is an art that reflects life. Music reflects people’s ideas and emotions.

35. Where can we hear music in our daily life?

36. What is a better thing to do in the forest?
