The Cannes Film Festival, as known in English (French: Festival de Cannes),
is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all
genres, including documentaries, from all around the world. Founded in 1946, the

LONDON’S BEST THREE EVENTS

An annual event (The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race) that has been going
since 1829, the Boat Race is a typically English event. It is a rowing race between
the boat clubs of Oxford (dark blue) and Cambridge (light blue) Universities and takes
place along the River Thames. The two rival teams, include eight rowers and a cox
each, who go over a 4.25-mile course from Putney to Mortlake. In the Boat Race
over 250,000 people line the banks of the Thames to watch the race. It takes place
in March or April every year.
Trooping The Colour is a typically British display of pomp, ceremony and show.
Involving military processions, brass bands and 41 gun salutes, the event marks the
Queen’s official birthday in June. It takes place outside Buckingham Palace and by
the Victoria Memorial as well as in Pall Mall and Green Park.
The London Marathon is an important event on the athletics calendar, but it’s not
really about the best runners. The joy of this 26-mile race every April is that members
of the public enter, paying thousands of pounds to charity in the process. They may

Over the last ten years, western societies have seen close to a 20% rise in the
number of children who are overweight. The main cause of this problem is poor
diet. Over the last decade there has been an increase in the number of fast-food

life. Secondly, very overweight children often experience bullying from other children,
which may affect their mental health. Society must take steps to prevent this problem
from worsening further.
