Excellent weatherability Acronal® 18 D ap is an anionic emulsion polymer with a medium viscosity. It
Outstanding stability consists of small, finely divided particles. Its compatibility with common
High water & alkali pigments and extenders is very good, and it has high binding power for
pigments. It forms films that are tough, flexible and tack-free at temperatures
resistance in the region of 20 C. Films formed by Acronal® 18 D ap have excellent
Good dirt & stain water and alkali resistance and high light fastness, and they are very
resistance resistant to saponification and weathering. They have very little tendency to
blush, even if they are exposed to water for long periods.

Application
Areas of application
Acronal® 18 D ap is mainly used as a binder for clear aggregate coatings,
wood stains, wood paints, and emulsion paints with a gloss or satin gloss
finish. It is ideal for high performance interior paints that provides hairline
crack bridging, stain resistance and washability.
Processing
Emulsion paints can be produced in the usual manner in a high-speed
impeller mill such as a Dissolver or in a heavy-duty mixer. It is advisable to
disperse the pigments and extenders with wetting and dispersing agents
such as Pigment Disperser® A in combination with water-soluble
polyphosphates, to ensure that the viscosity of the paint remains stable over
long-term storage periods.
Customers have to carry out their own trials when developing and processing
