CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY

2023
ABSTRACT
Cultural centers are venues in public use that create a platform for people to both
practice and take part in cultural activities (Stenlund, 2010). They may for instance
provide commercial concerts, theatre productions, standup comedy, musicals, or even
be the home of the city’s symphony orchestra (Lambert & Williams, 2017). Cagayan de
Oro is culturally diverse, where people of different languages, indigenous communities,
and cultures meet. As a melting pot, the city’s arts and crafts shine like gold, in which it
provides a platform to celebrate this diverse heritage, bringing together different
elements to create a vibrant and harmonious whole. The significance of this study is to
design a public mixed-use cultural center within the heart of the city through eclectic-
tribal architecture. The research design of this study is Qualitative Design and gathering
of data is done through personal standard interviews and survey questionnaires.

Keywords: Cultural Center, Eclectic Architecture, cultural activities
