Introduction:

Sudan is one of the countries that rarely cares about sports or entertainment facilities. We
find that the facilities in Khartoum only include one or two activities, such as the Police Club in
Burri, which only has a swimming pool and a gym, and Freedom Square (the Green Square) is
a park that includes children’s games and football fields and number of events are held there,
but we miss the presence of complexes that include a number of diverse facilities in one place.

Project Definition:
It is a complex that includes a number of sports and entertainment facilities.

Importance of the Project:

Sports or entertainment facilities in the Northern region has no real concern from official.
We find that the facilities there are not qualified for sports or recreational use. The project aims
to establish an integrated sports and entertainment complex that meets the needs of the region
and reflects the culture of the people of the region.

Project Objectives:
1. Functional design: The complex should be designed to accommodate a variety
of sports and recreational activities, ensuring that the layout and arrangement
of spaces are conducive to the specific needs of each activity.
2. Safety and accessibility: The complex should prioritize the safety of users by
incorporating proper lighting, signage, emergency exits, and security measures.
It should also be designed to be accessible for individuals with disabilities,
ensuring that ramps, elevators, and other accessibility features are included.
3. Efficient circulation and flow: The architectural design should facilitate smooth
circulation and flow of people within the complex, minimizing congestion and
allowing for easy access to different areas.
4. Aesthetically pleasing design: The architectural design should create an appealing
and inviting environment that enhances the overall user experience.
5. Sustainable design: A sports and recreation complex should incorporate
sustainable design principles to minimize its environmental impact.

3
6. Flexibility and adaptability: The architectural design should allow for flexibility and
adaptability to accommodate changing needs and future expansion.
7. Integration with the surrounding context: The architectural design
should consider the context in which the complex is located, taking into
account factors such as climate, topography, cultural heritage, and
existing infrastructure.
Overall, the architectural objectives of a sports and recreation complex are to create
a functional, safe, aesthetically pleasing, sustainable, and adaptable environment that
enhances the user experience and promotes the objectives and importance of the complex.

Project Problems:
1- One of the challenges that the project will face is developing a construction system that suits
the nature of the lands in the region because they are agricultural or stone lands.
2-The lack of transportation in rural areas will make it difficult to reach the site, especially since
the nature of the project requires public transportation.
3- Inadequate space planning, Poor circulation and flow, Lack of safety measures, and
Inaccessibility for individuals with disabilities, these architectural problems can hinder the
effectiveness and success of a sports and recreation complex, impacting the user experience,
safety, functionality, and overall sustainability of the facility.

Reasons Of Selection:
1- sports and recreation complexes offer a multitude of benefits, including physical fitness, skill
development, social interaction, and a fun-filled environment for individuals and families.
2- There are no similar projects in the region.
3- The community in the region needs such facilities because they increase job opportunities
and attract tourists.

4
Scope Of the Project:
The scope of a sports and recreation complex includes the design and planning of the physical
structures and spaces within the facility and it will include the following:
- Stadium (10,000 spectators)
- Sports hall
- Physiotherapy center, Administration, & Spa and massage club
- Multipurpose Hall, Restaurant, and cafe
- Sports stores
- Outdoor courts & swimming pool
This encompasses various aspects such as building design, space planning, accessibility,
safety measures, landscape design, integration with technology, and sustainability
considerations. The goal is to create a visually appealing, functional, safe, accessible, and
sustainable facility that meets the specific needs and activities of the users.
