REASON
To provide access to do the NDI inspection of the forward engine beam.
DESCRIPTION
This service bulletin provides parts and instructions to install an access panel on the upper pylon skin.
COMPLIANCE
OPTIONAL. This service bulletin can be accomplished at the discretion of the owner.
A service bulletin published by Cessna Aircraft Company may be recorded as “completed” in an aircraft
log only when the following requirements are satisfied:
1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent
therein.
2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin
kit. Only with written authorization from Cessna Aircraft Company can substitute parts or rebuilt
parts be used to replace new parts.
3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service bulletin only as
approved and published.
4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service bulletin only to aircraft
serial numbers identified in the “Effectivity” section of the bulletin.
5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable
standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance.
A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded.
B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position.
C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane.
(1) Disconnect the airplane battery.
(2) Disconnect external electrical power.
D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT
CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.

2. Remove pylon access panels 411EB, 411AB, 412EB and 412AB to get access to the engine beam.
(Refer to the Model 525B Maintenance Manual, Chapter 6, Access Plates and Panels Identification -
Description and Operation.)
3. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A, Detail B and View B-B.) Do a modification to the left and right upper pylon skin.
A. Remove and discard the rivets that attach the upper pylon skin. (Refer to the Model 525A/525B
Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Fastener Removal and Installation.)
B. Remove and keep the upper pylon skin.
C. Identify the area to cut on the upper pylon skin.
D. Make the cutout in the upper pylon skin and discard the cutout.
E. Apply U074093 Color Chemical Film Treatment to the areas that were cut. (Refer to the Citation
Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Exterior Finish - Cleaning/Painting.)
F. Apply K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to the areas that were cut. (Refer to the Citation
Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Exterior Finish - Cleaning/Painting.)
4. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A and View A-A.) Do a modification of the tailcone skin.
A. Make sure that there is 0.25 inch minimum clearance between the upper cap of the engine beam
and the tailcone skin to inspect the countersunk rivets in the NDI inspection 54-50-01. (Refer to the
Model 525A/525B Nondestructive Testing Manual, Part 6 Eddy Current 54-50-01, Forward Engine
Beam Upper Cap BL 27.25 (Eddy Current) Special Detailed Inspection.)
(1) If there is enough clearance between the upper cap of the engine beam and the tailcone skin
to access the countersunk rivets in NDI Inspection 54-50-01, go to Step 5.
(2) If there is not enough clearance between the upper cap of the engine beam to access the
countersunk rivets in NDI Inspection 54-50-01, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove sealer from between the upper surface of the upper cap and the tailcone skin
in the area of the countersunk fasteners.
(b) Insert a piece of stainless steel between the tailcone skin and the engine beam.
(c) Trim the tailcone skin to a 0.25 inch gap or until the edge of the tailcone skin is flush
with the forward upper attach angle to gain access to the countersunk rivets in the NDI
inspection.
CAUTION: Do not grind on the radius of the upper attach angle.
(d) Remove the piece of stainless steel.
(e) Apply U074093 Color Chemical Film Treatment to the affected areas. (Refer to the
Citation Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Exterior Finish - Cleaning/Painting.)
(f) Apply K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to the areas that were ground. (Refer to the
Citation Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Exterior Finish - Cleaning/Painting.)
(g) Apply the U470638 Sealant that was removed to modify the talicone skin. (Refer to the
Citation Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure and High
Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices.)
5. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A, Detail B and View C-C.) Install the 6391706-3 Forward Support (left) and
6391706-5 Aft Support (left) to the pylon structure.
A. Measure and mark the hole locations on the 6391706-7 Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim.
NOTE: Locate the holes at the four highlighted locations to maintain an edge distance of 0.30 inch
from the trimmed areas.
B. Put the 6391706-7 Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim on the 6391706-3 Forward Support
(left) and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) as shown.

C. Drill the 14 Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes that were marked in the 6391706-3 Forward
Support (left) and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) and 6391706-7 Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft
Shim.
D. Put the 6391706-3 Forward Support (left) and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) and 6391706-7 Forward
Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim on the 6312703-61 Forward Angle and 6312703-63 Aft Angle.
NOTE: It is permissible to trim or notch the 6391706-3 Forward Support (left) and 6391706-5 Aft
Support (left) and 6391706-7 Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim to provide clearance
for existing rivets at the four highlighted locations.
E. Match drill the 10 Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes in the 6391706-3 Forward Support (left)
and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) that aligns with the holes in the 6312703-61 Forward Angle and
6312703-63 Aft Angle.
F. Match drill four Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes for the nutplates in the 6312703-61 Forward
Angle and 6312703-63 Aft Angle.
G. Drill four 0.281 inch-diameter holes through the Number 30 (0.128 inch diameter) holes that were
drilled in the 6312703-61 Forward Angle and 6312703-63 Aft Angle.
H. Match drill two Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes for the nutplates in the 6312703-61 Forward
Angle and 6312703-63 Aft Angle through the existing holes in the 6312701-13 Forward Upper
Attach Angle (left).
I. Drill two 0.281 inch-diameter holes in the 6312703-61 Forward Angle and 6312703-63 Aft Angle
through Number 30 (0.128 inch diameter) holes that were drilled in the 6312701-13 Forward Upper
Attach Angle (left).
J. Temporarily install the upper pylon skin.
K. Match drill 14 Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes in the upper pylon skin and 6312701-13
Forward Upper Attach Angle through the holes that were drilled in the 6391706-3 Forward Support
(left) and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) and 6391706-7 Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim.
L. Remove the upper pylon skin that was temporarily installed.
M. Remove the 6391706-3 Forward Support (left) and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) and 6391706-7
Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim from the 6312703-61 Forward Angle and 6312703-63
Aft Angle.
N. Countersink the 14 Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes 100° x 0.225 inch-diameter as shown.
O. Deburr the holes.
P. Apply U074093 Color Chemical Film Treatment and K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to protect
all bare material. (Refer to the Model 525A/525B Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Protective
Treatment of Metal - Description and Operation.)
Q. Apply K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to the areas that were trimmed or notched. (Refer to the
Citation Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Exterior Finish - Cleaning/Painting.)
R. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail B, View C-C.) Install the six MS21073L08 Nutplates.
(1) Locate the center hole of each MS21073L08 Nutplate over the existing holes in the 6391706-3
Forward Support (left) and 6391706-5 Aft Support (left) as shown.
(2) Drill two Number 40 (0.098 inch-diameter) holes in the 6391706-3 Forward Support (left) and
6391706-5 Aft Support (left) to match the holes in each MS21073L08 Nutplate.
(3) Remove the MS21073L08 Nutplates.
(4) Deburr the holes.
(5) Countersink the Number 40 (0.098 inch-diameter) holes 100° x 0.180 inch-diameter.
(6) Install the six MS21073L08 Nutplates with 12 CM3827AD3-4 Rivets.

G. Drill four 0.281 inch-diameter holes through the Number 30 (0.128 inch diameter) holes that were
drilled in the 6312703-61 Forward Angle and 6312703-63 Aft Angle.
H. Match drill two Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes for the nutplates in the 6312703-61 Forward

L. Remove the upper pylon skin that was temporarily installed.

Forward Shim and 6391706-8 Aft Shim from the 6712703-62 Forward Angle and 6712703-64
Aft Angle.
N. Countersink the 14 Number 30 (0.128 inch-diameter) holes 100° x 0.225 inch-diameter.

(1) Locate the center hole of each MS21073L08 Nutplate over the existing hole in the 6391706-4
Forward Support (right) and 6391706-6 Aft Support (right) as shown.
(2) Drill two Number 40 (0.098 inch-diameter) holes in the 6391706-4 Forward Support (right) and
6391706-6 Aft Support (right) to match the holes in each MS21073L08 Nutplate.
(3) Remove the MS21073L08 Nutplates.
(4) Deburr the holes.
(5) Countersink the Number 40 (0.098 inch-diameter) holes 100° x 0.180 inch-diameter.
(6) Install the six MS21073L08 Nutplates with 12 CM3827AD3-4 Rivets.

7. (Refer to Figure 1, View B-B.) Install the kept upper pylon skin.
A. Apply U000117 Firewall Sealant where any sealant was removed during the modification. (Refer to
the Citation Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure and High Temperature
Sealing - Maintenance Practices.)
B. Fay seal the mating surface of the upper pylon skin with U470638 Sealant. (Refer to the Citation
Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure and High Temperature Sealing
- Maintenance Practices.)
C. Put the upper pylon skin on the pylon.
D. Attach the upper pylon skin to the pylon with twelve CM3827AD4-4 Rivets, thirty three CR3214-4-02
Rivets, twenty four NAS1200M4-4 Rivets and thirty eight CR3522-4-02 Rivets installed wet with
U544044 Sealant. (Refer to the Citation Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather and
Pressure and High Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices.)
8. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Install the 6312706-1S Left Panel Bond Assembly.
A. Put the access panel into position and identify the holes that need to be drilled.
B. Drill six 0.171 inch-diameter holes in the 6312706-1S Left Panel Bond Assembly.
C. Dimple all of the drilled holes in the 6312706-1S Left Panel to Bond Assembly 100° x 0.33
inch-diameter.
D. Deburr the drilled holes.
E. Use the U074093 Color Chemical Film Treatment and K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to
protect all bare material. (Refer to the Model 525A/525B Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51,
Protective Treatment of Metal - Description and Operation.)
F. Apply U544036 Sealant to form a fay seal to the access panel. (Refer to the Citation Standard
Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure And High Temperature Sealing -
Maintenance Practices.)
NOTE: Apply a layer of parting agent to the mating surface.
G. Apply a fillet seal to the access panel and the structure with U470638 Sealant. (Refer to the Citation
Standard Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure And High Temperature Sealing
- Maintenance Practices.)
H. Install the 6312706-1S Left Panel Bond Assembly with six MS24694-C4 Screws.
I. Apply U074093 Color Chemical Film Treatment and K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to protect
all bare material. (Refer to the Model 525A/525B Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Protective
Treatment of Metal - Description and Operation.)

9. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Install the 6312706-2S Right Panel Bond Assembly.
A. Put the access panel into position and identify the holes that need to be drilled.
B. Drill six 0.171 inch-diameter holes in the 6312706-2S Right Panel Bond Assembly.
C. Dimple all of the drilled holes in the 6312706-2S Right Panel Bond Assembly to 100° x 0.33
inch-diameter.
D. Deburr the drilled holes.
E. Apply the U074093 Color Chemical Film Treatment and K000925 Corrosion Resistant Primer to
protect all bare material. (Refer to the Model 525A/525B Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51,
Protective Treatment of Metal - Description and Operation.)
F. Apply U544036 Sealant to form a fay seal to the access panel. (Refer to the Citation Standard
Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure And High Temperature Sealing -
Maintenance Practices.)
NOTE: Apply a layer of parting agent to the mating surface.

11. Paint the pylon, access panels, screws and rivets to match the airplane. (Refer to the Citation Standard
Practices Manual, Chapter 20, Exterior Finishes - Cleaning/Painting.)
12. Make an entry in the airplane logbook that states compliance and method of compliance with this service
document.
NOTE: Textron Aviation recommends that compliance with all service documents is reported to a
maintenance tracking system provider.
• Complete a record of compliance. (Maintenance Transaction Report, Log Book Entry, or
other record of compliance.)
• Put a copy of the completed record of compliance in the airplane logbook.
• Send a copy of the completed record of compliance to the maintenance tracking system
provider used.
