The Dance

She looked him up and down. He was dressed in a fitting black suit that matched his
black hair, eyes, and shoes.
“Hey!” she said after she had finished analyzing the beautiful person in front of her.
“Hello,” he said shyly, “um… you look pretty tonight.”
“Really? Thanks!”
And it was true! She looked gorgeous. She had a tight low-cut dark red dress with
matching heels. Her hair was curled and tied to the back of her head. It was held in place by a
white ribbon. She was also wearing diamond earrings and a diamond necklace. She was
gorgeous.
“Is it time for our dance?” He said hooking his right arm out to her.
“I believe it is!” She said sliding her left arm into his open right.
They were good friends. They had never believed themselves as a “couple”, but they may
as well be.
The diamond earrings she had on were from him for her 16th birthday, everyone always
said that they would be a perfect couple, but they just ignored the comments. They’ve even
kissed, but they aren’t dating. I don’t understand, but what do I know? I’m just the narrator.
They both stepped out onto the dancing floor along with nine other couples. She let go of
his arm and placed it gently on his shoulder. He slid his hand onto her side, and she could’ve
sworn he could feel her heart beating. They glided their hands together and the music started to
play.
Everything felt like it was in slow motion. The way his dark eyes moved from her eyes to
her red lips, the way she looked up at his eyes, the way they swayed back and forth, and the way
their hearts synchronized.
Enchanting. Pure enchantment.
“Can I tell you something?” the boy finally said, interrupting their growing love.
“Anything.” She said with a look of confusion.
They slowly stopped dancing.
He took a deep breath. “I’ve never seen a prettier girl than you in my entire life. You are
stunning. You are kind, smart, funny, generous, and overall, a great person. And tonight, I
realized that I can’t hold this in anymore.”
She looked up at him and saw a look of compassion.
“I love you. I love you more than the stars in the sky and the grains of sand on Earth. I
love you. I see you in your dress, your smile, and the earrings that I gave you, and I just can’t
help but think that you are perfect. From the second I saw you; I’ve always known that you were
stunning, but tonight I don’t think I could spend another minute looking at you without spewing
out all the words I am now.”
She took a minute to process and then finally replied, “You cannot believe how long I’ve
waited for you to say that.”
He lightly chuckled and the two of them danced the night away, knowing that they would
forever be with one another. Until the end of time.
