1. Introduction
Education is a gradual process which brings positive changes in human life and behavior. We can also define
education as “a process of acquiring knowledge through study or imparting the knowledge by way of
instructions or some other practical procedure”. Education brings a natural and lasting change in an
individual’s reasoning and ability to achieve the targeted goal. It facilitates us to investigate our own
considerations and thoughts and makes it ready to express it in various shapes [1]. Formal education is
commonly divided formally into such stages as preschool or kindergarten, primary school, secondary school,
preparatory school and then college, university, or apprenticeship [2]. form those educational stages we are
focusing in preparatory school students.

Now a days education is supported by technologies. Technology is the use of scientific knowledge for practical
purposes or applications, whether in industry or in our everyday lives. It can be the knowledge of techniques,
processes, and the like, or it can be embedded in machines to allow for operation without detailed knowledge
of their workings. Systems (e.g. machines) applying technology by taking an input, changing it according to
the system's use, and then producing an outcome are referred to as technology systems or technological
systems [3]. Online examination system is also one type of technologies that allow us to take exam over the
intermate.

An online examination system is a computer-based test system that can be used to conduct computer and
internet based exam. Online examinations are an important method of evaluating the success potential of
students. This examination system uses fewer resources and reduces the need for question papers and answer
scripts, exam room scheduling, arranging invigilators, coordinating with examiners, and more. [4].
As much as most local institutions of learning have embraced E-learning to raise the bar and so as to cope
with the ever growing number of learners (students) very few institutions have adopted an online
examination system, in fact little has been done in development of online systems. Ministry of education has
planned to give entrance exam online using tablets. Thus, Computer literacy skills such as using computers,
accessing online systems and solving simple computer problems are very important to take online exam. This
community service is to give training about online exam training for grad 12 students.

2. Initiation of training proposal

As one goal of the university is established to serve the community besides the teaching and learning activities.
This is a community service that will serve by giving online exam training for grad 12 students. Since in this
year MOE (Minister of education) decided to give the entrance exam through online system.
As we conducted the need assessment from Ginba Secondary and Preparatory school, the students have no
skill and competency to use tablet and the online exam system. The students are ready to take basic computer

skill and online exam training. Because of these reasons we decide to serve the community by giving training
for the Ginba Secondary and preparatory school students.

3. Objective of the training

The main objective of the proposed training is to fill the skill gap of using tablets and online exam systems for
facilitating the university entrance exam for Ginba Secondary and Preparatory School students.

4. Essential of the training

As we state in the introduction above technology is very essential to accomplish a given task in short time and
it is highly reliable. The training is very essential because of the following reasons:

To show the way to change their knowledge and skills using technology products.
To create awareness about online exam for preparatory students who take the university entrance exam
They do not have any awareness to use tablet
They do not have any awareness to take exam online
If they face some problems or failures they cannot handle starting from simple to complex problems
rather they try to call for exam invigilator.

5. Training focus group

The training is proposed to cover mainly the specific area in Ginba Secondary and Preparatory School who
take the university entrance exam. Even though the students take ICT (Information Communication
Technology) Course and related to the fields, there is a limitation in practical especially in the use of tablets
and the use of online systems, they are far from doing activities using computer since the shortage of
computers while they learned and the internet access.

In addition to this most of the students are not familiar with the technology and they may not successful to
support the sectors with the technology which running today in fast rate to reach to developed countries.

Even if we limit the training areas on Ginba Secondary and Preparatory School students who are take the
university entrance exam, we will increase the training areas for future to other students by getting the input
comments from the trainees.

7. Form of delivery the training

we will give the training by classifying Students in accordance with their capability and skill to the
proposed training.
Trainees will be classified into rounds not to stop function of the sector Since computer applications
are designed by English language, the training will be given by English language but if needed we will
mix other mother tongue and working languages like Amharic.
The delivery of training will be: first show the highlight for all trainees of the day and then assessing
them practically on tablets using projector.

8. Expected outcomes of the training

After accomplishing the training the following outcomes are expected from the training

Improved Students competencies in basic Tablet operations.

Improved trainees learning outcomes on basic Tablet operations.
The trainees will able to know how to use the tablet
The trainees will be able to know how to use the online exam system on the tablet
The training helps the trainees to gain confidence in their ability to use tablets as tools to reinforce their
exam.

The trainees also can gain confidence in using Tablets to do the online exam on the
system
