UNIT 2: GRAMMAR
COMPARATIVE ADVERBS
(So sánh hơn của trạng từ)
- Hầu hết các trạng từ (thường nhiều hơn hai âm tiết), chúng ta hình thành dạng so sánh hơn bằng cách thêm
“more”: S + V + more + trạng từ dài
Ví dụ: slowly (chậm) -> more slowly (chậm hơn)
carefully (cẩn thận) -> more carefully (cẩn thận hơn)
- Với những trạng từ có hình thức giống như tính từ như fast (nhanh), hard (khó/ chăm chỉ/ vất vả), soon
(sớm),… chúng ta hình thành dạng so sánh bằng cách thêm -ER: S + V + trạng từ ngắn - ER
Ví dụ: fast (nhanh) -> faster (nhanh hơn)
hard (chăm chỉ/ khó/ vất vả) -> harder (chăm chỉ/ khó/ vất vả hơn)
- Một số trạng từ bất quy tắc:
well (tốt) -> better (tốt hơn)
badly (kém) -> worse (kém hơn)

A. LÝ THUYẾT
I- PHÂN BIỆT TÍNH TỪ NGẮN & TÍNH TỪ DÀI
1. Phân biệt tính từ ngắn & tính từ dài:
Tính từ ngắn (Short adjectives) Tính từ dài (Long adjectives)
(Ký hiệu trong bài này là: S-adj) (Ký hiệu trong bài này là: L-adj)
- Là tính từ có một âm tiết - Là tính từ có từ 2 âm tiết trở lên
Ví dụ: Ví dụ:
- red, long, short, hard,…. - beautiful, friendly, humorous, ….
II. CẤU TRÚC SO SÁNH HƠN
So sánh hơn với tính từ ngắn và trạng từ ngắn:
Cấu trúc:
S1 + S-adj + er/ S-adv- er + than + S2 + Axiliary V
S1 + S-adj + er/ S-adv- er + than + O/ N/ Pronoun
Trong đó: S-adj-er: là tính từ ngắn thêm đuôi “er”
S-adv-er: là trạng từ ngắn thêm đuôi “er”
S1: Chủ ngữ 1 (Đối tượng được so sánh)
S2: Chủ ngữ 2 (Đối tượng dùng để so sánh với đối tượng 1)
Axiliary V: trợ động từ
O (object): tân ngữ
N (noun): danh từ
Pronoun: đại từ
Ví dụ:
- This book isthicker thanthat one. (Cuốn sách này dày hơn cuốn sách kia.)
- They workharder thanI do. = They workharder thanme. (Họ làm việc chăm chỉ hơn tôi.)
III. Cách sử dụng tính từ trong câu so sánh hơn:
1.Cách thêm đuôi –er vào tính từ ngắn
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 phụ âm àthêm đuôi –er Old-older, near-nearer
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 nguyên âm “e” àthêm đuôi –r Nice-nicer
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 nguyên âm(ueoai) +1 phụ âm à gấp đôi Big-bigger, hot-hotter, fat-fatter
phụ âm cuối và thêm đuôi -er
Tính từ kết thúc bởi “y” dù có 2 âm tiết vẫn là tính từ ngắn àbỏ Happy-happier,
“y” và thêm đuôi “ier” Pretty-prettier
Lưu ý: Một số tính từ có hai âm tiết kết thúc bằng “et, ow, er, y” thì áp dụng như quy tắc thêm er ở tính từ
ngắn
Ví dụ: quiet àquieter clever à cleverer

Theo quy tắc ngữ pháp, khi là câu hỏi thì chúng ta cần đảo trợ động từ (auxiliray verbs) lên trước chủ ngữ

Câu hỏi dạng Yes/No Questions là dạng câu hỏi đòi hỏi câu trả lời là Yes (có) hoặc No (không).

Trong tiếng Anh, khi chúng ta cần hỏi rõ ràng và cần có câu trả lời cụ thể, ta dùng câu hỏi với các từ để hỏi.
Loại câu hỏi này được gọi là câu hỏi trực tiếp (direct questions)

Over the years, Le Mat Village in Long Bien District, Hanoi has been famous
nationwide for not only snake catching and breeding, but also its unique festival.
The festival is annually held on March 20-24 of the lunar calendar to worship the
village’s tutelary god of the Hoang Family.
Legend told that one day while the daughter of King Ly Thai Tong (1072-1127)
was boating with her maids on the Duong River, a big snake, which was considered
a water monster, overturned the boat and caught the princess. The crew could do
Le Mat Snake nothing to protect the princess. But a young man in the Hoang Family from Le Mat
Festival Village dove into the water, fought against the monster and, in the end, succeeded
in killing it and saving the princess. King Ly Thai Tong was deeply impressed by the
young man’s feat and gave him a reward in gold and court titles. But the hero
graciously rejected the reward and, instead, requested the King to allow him and a
number of poor people to reclaim land in the areas west of the capital in Thang
Long. When the man passed away, the locals honored him as the village’s tutelary
god and every year organize a festival to commemorate him.
Le Mat Village Festival consists of many unique rituals and folk activities, such as
the water offering ceremony, the snake-killing dance, one of the ten ancient dances
in the imperial capital of Thang Long and the ritual of catching carp in the village

How Nam has improved his English
In the first year of lower secondary school, I had some difficulties in learning English. My English
pronunciation was really bad and my English grammar was worse. I did not know how to improve them. I
