1 Overview

The ZXA10 C6xxV1.1.0 version is not greatly different from ZXA10 C600V1.0.0 in
terms of equipment software commissioning and configuration, but just some new
functions are added. However, apart from C600 version, the ZXA10 C6xxV1.1.0 version
packages also integrate versions of such equipment as C620, C650, C680 and so on, and
add part of new maintenance diagnosis functions. To facilitate use of ZXA10 C6xxV1.1.0
version, and meet on-site commissioning and maintenance requirements, this document
is mainly to modify and supplement based on original ZXA10 C600V1.0.0 Version
Commissioning and General Operation Summary.
Following contents are comprised in this document:
1. Related data planning, including: uplink configuration planning,
GPON/XGPON/EPON/10GEPON service planning and data planning, etc.;
2. C600 global data configuration, including: serial port configuration, configuration of
multiple C6xx user name / password authentication modes, other global configuration
data needed by C6xx commissioning and so on;
3. GPON/XGPON/EPON/10GEPON service commissioning;
4. C6xx general maintenance operations.

2 Related Data Planning

2.1 Uplink Port Configuration Requirements

At present, uplink ports of C600 is provided by uplink cards, while the switching &
control card SFUL doesn’t provide uplink ports; physical type supports optical port,
and it is 10G by default; configuration rate supports 1000M and 10G (decided by port
property). LACP aggregation is supported between ports, and same-card and span-card
LACP smartgroup are supported. Span-card aggregation is recommended. At present,
uplink ports can also configure UAPS protection groups, and support to configure UAPS
protection on the same card or span-card.

2.2 GPON/XGPON Service Planning

2.2.1 GPON/XGPON ONU service scenario requirements

Generally, common scenarios of GPON/XGPON service comprises 4 kinds of

services: ITMS management, VOIP, IPTV and broadband service. Each service
configuration corresponds to different CVLANs. And for 4 kinds of services, following 3
scenarios can be used:

1) 1 TCONT and 1 GEMPORT map 1 VPORT, and configure 4 service-ports;

2) 1 TCONT corresponds to 4 GEMPORTs to map 1 VPORT, and configure 4 service-

ports;

3) 4 TCONT corresponds to 4 GEMPORTs to map 1 VPORT, and configure 4 service-

ports.

2.2.2 GPON/XGPON basic service scenario configuration flowchart

The basic service configuration flowchart is shown as below. The flowchart is

applicable to all ONU types. For different ONU types, there may differ inside each step,

2.3 EPON/10EPON Service Planning

2.3.1 EPON/10G EPON service scenario requirements

At present, EPON line card types supported by the C600 system include 10G EPON,
but not support pure 1G EPON line card. 10G EPON can support EPON channel and 10G
EPON channel (including symmetrical and asymmetric) at the same time, and the
maximum forwarding ability is upstream 10G, and downstream 10G.

Similar to GPON/XGPON, generally, common scenarios of EPON/10G EPON service

also comprise 4 kinds of services: ITMS management, VOIP, IPTV and broadband service,
Each service configuration corresponds to different CVLANs, if it is HGU, each service a
user-vlan, and corresponds to a CVLAN, and each service a service-port.

2.4 Planning of Commissioning Data

2.4.1 OLT data planning

OLT management VLAN: 66

OLT management address: 198.16.63.26, mask 255.255.255.252, gateway 198.16.63.25
OLT uplink port xgei-1/18/1 xgei-1/19/1, create aggregation via LACP active mode, and
for load balance at the upstream direction, suggest to use the source MAC load balance,
or OLT uplink ports can also use UAPS protection groups to perform span-card
protection.

2.4.2 GPON/XPON ONU data planning

1) ONU VLAN planning

Plan service VLANs for each place according to your own requirements, for example:
ITMS:
SVLAN: 3901 CVLAN: 4033 user-vlan: 46 ;
IPTV:
SVLAN: 3801 CVLAN: 2613 user-vlan 2613 multicast VLAN: 4070 ;
HSI:
SVLAN: 3751 CVLAN: 684 user-vlan: 684 ;
VOIP:
SVLAN: 3850 CVLAN: 4001 user-vlan: 4001 ;
1) ONU rate-limit
TCONT rate-limit is used at upstream, while VPORT rate-limit or service-port rate-
limit is used at downstream. Configure TCONT bandwidth profile, service-port and vport
bandwidth profile (C600 doesn't support gemport rate-limit).
2) Authentication mode
GPON supports multiple authentication modes, configure according to your own

3 Global Data Configuration for C600

Commissioning

3.1 Connect via the Serial Port and Introduce Ports on

the Panel of Switching & Control Card

Use a serial port cable to connect the CONSOLE port and PC of C600’s master main
control card, and set the serial port’s baud rate as 115200, and then you can log in the
OLT immediately after connected. The default enabling password is zxr10. The panel
figure of a C600 switching & control card is shown as below: USB port, CONSOLE port,
ODB port, MGMT out-band Ethernet port, DIAG interface from top to bottom. In addition,
at present, the DIAG interface can only be used for microcode debugging, inner / panel
port serdes debugging, control panel flow mirroring, but can’t be used for uplink port or
CPU mirroring and packet capturing. Therefore, at present, to mirror and capture packets
at the uplink ports, the optical-electrical module can only be used to connect a PC to
capture packets.

3.2 Create User Name / Password for C6xx

C600V1.0.0 version system has the default telnet user name zte, and password zte,
but starting from C6xxV1.1.0 version, the default user name / password can only be used
once, with the user name as zte, and password as ZxPon1!2@3#. Because the default user
name password will invalid after exited, you need to modify or create the user name /
password once again, otherwise, you will fail to log in again. However, in some places,
factory setting may set the default user name / password as zte, so when logging in for
the first time, try both passwords, or you can create a new user name, password
according to your own requirements. And set RADIUS or Tacacs authentication modes.

3.2.1 Create user name / password of local authentication

At the same time, C600 and C300 are the same, no matter whether to enable the PNP
function or not, switching & control cards are automatically identified to generate, with
no need to manually add. During commissioning, if PNP is disabled, you only need to
manually add uplink cards and service cards.
Manually add cards by using following commands:
ZXAN#config t

ZXAN(config)#uaps-group

Precautions:

ZTE Confidential Proprietary © 2019 ZTE Corporation. All rights reserved. Page 25
Confidential▲

1) Data configuration of the master active port and slave active port participating in
protection switching must be consistent, the UAPS function itself doesn’t have the
automatic synchronize data function.

2) Service forwarding of the master active port and slave active port participating in
protection switching doesn’t exist load balance relationship, but just simple master /
slave protection relationship.

3.6.2 Configure UAPS protection switching time

ZXAN(config)#uaps-group 1 -------------------Enter the uaps protection group

ZXAN(config-uaps-1)#revertive enable ---------Enable the automatic revertive function

ZXAN(config-uaps-1)#protect-time ? ------------Configure the protection switching time (300s by

default)

<0-900> Time (second, [0-900], default 300s )

Precautions:

1. The switching protection time is the interval from triggering switching back to the
master port after the master active port recovers to normal.

2. To make the switching protection time take effect, the automatic revertive function
needs to be enabled.

3.6.3 Set the triggering condition for UAPS protection switching

ZXAN(config)#uaps-group 1 -------------------Enter the uaps protection group

ZXAN(config-uaps-1)#switch-type max-ports-switch -----------Set the switching type as max-port

mode

Precautions:

1)For UAPS protection groups of single-port or smartgroup, the switching trigger

condition is that switching will be triggered when all ports of the current active port are
down.

2)For multi-port UAPS protection groups, the switching trigger condition can be set as
max-port mode, meaning that as long as faulty ports among current active ports are
more than non-active ports, switching will be triggered.

3.6.4 Configure UAPS protection for Smartgroup

ZXAN(config)#uaps-group 1 ----------------Enter the uaps protection group.

ZXAN(config-uaps-1)#switch-type trunking-port ---------Set the switching type as trunking. You

must first set it as trunking, otherwise, you will fail to add multiple ports as UAPS active port or
protection port.

Precautions:

Smartgroup port must be manually added into the UAPS group, and you can’t
directly add smartgroup through commands. The switching trigger mode must be set as
trunking.

ZXAN(config-uaps-1)#master-port interface xgei-1/18/6 --------------Add multiple ports to the UAPS

protection groups. The configuring order of smartgroup or uaps protection groups
doesn’t matter, it is OK about which one is configured first. For smartgroup
configuring method, please refer to above Section 5.

Note: The system adopts span-VLAN multicast by default, multicast VLAN can
automatically retrieve packets, so igmp span-vlan doesn’t need to be configured in
multicast VLAN. However, if upstream direction multicast messages go through non-
multicast VLAN, the VLAN’s igmp span-vlan must be configured, if going through dual-
layer VLAN, igmp span-vlan is configured in SVLAN.

4.1.2 Special Configurations of ONU Profile

Except general ONU configurations above-mentioned, according to different

application scenarios or different ONU requirements, it is possible to add some special
configurations when configuring ONU type profile. These configurations are generally
unable to be modified by default, but need to be configured for some special scenarios.
Suggest to contact with our R & D personnel to evaluate before configuration.
1) Speed mode of ONU
Normally, the speed mode of the ONU is automatically matched. But for combo pon,
because when LOID authentication happens on the ITMS number distribution process,
except ONU on-line, you still need to send LOID to the ITMS platform to authenticate, at
this time, under the combo pon environment, the OLT will kick the ONU when matching
ONU speed, causing number distribution process needs to send LOID once again,
affecting the number distribution feeling. Suggest to specify speed as below when
creating the ONU type profile:
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-type TEST1220 gpon speed-mode ?
auto Auto
gpon GPON ONU
xg-pon XG-PON ONU
xgs-pon XGS-PON ONU
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-type TEST1220 gpon speed-mode

2) Multicast address dispatching

ZTE Confidential Proprietary © 2019 ZTE Corporation. All rights reserved. Page 36
Confidential▲

Generally, ONUs will configure multicast address by default, to guarantee normal

multicast forwarding. But some other ONU vendors have no multicast forwarding address
by default, which is dispatched by the OLT based on specifications, at the time, if the
multicast group address can’t be determined, forward all multicast by default, following
configurations need to be performed:
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-type TEST1220 gpon default-multicast-range ?
all-inclusive All inclusive
none None
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-type TEST1220 gpon default-multicast-range all-inclusive -------Forward all
multicast addresses

3)Control OMCI dispatching mode

To guarantee the success rate of ONU upstream speed and work order dispatching,
most OMCI dispatching of current GPON are asynchronous, but sometimes, some
vendors need synchronous mode, so it needs to be evaluated and modified.
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-type TEST1220 gpon omci-send-mode ?
async Asynchronous
sync Synchronous
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-type TEST1220 gpon omci-send-mode

4) Other Configuration Specifications

For configurations of the ONU’s ability set, these settings need to combine the
ONU’s ability set to configure, in order to avoid the situation that the ability set of the
ONU profile exceeds the actual ability of the ONU, causing ONU problems, suggest to try
to set the ONU’s ability set smaller.

Tcont and gemport service models are decided according to on-site requirements, it can
be single-tcont and single-gemport, and can also be multi-tcont, multi-gemport. C600
doesn't support gemport rate-limit, but vport or service-port rate-limit can be used. Here,
only consider tcont:gemport as 1:1.
Single-tcont single-gemport:

4.6.4 HGU configures service data under remote management

C600 ONU remote management only supports simplified service configuration mode,
service flow mapping adopts SERVICE commands, while user port uses vlan port or
multicast vlan commands, to complete configuration of unicast or multicast service.
Single-tcont, single-gemport:

under pon-onu-mng.

4.6.5 SFU configures service data under remote management

1) Configure related service mapping

Service mapping-related configuration under SFU and that under HGU have no
difference, configure service according to the quantity of gemports
ZXAN(config)#pon-onu-mng gpon_onu-1/2/1:1
ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)#service inband gemport 4 -----Here, configure to transparently

ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)#service iptv gemport 2
ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)#service hsi gemport 3
2) Configure broadband service UNI interface
For UNI ports of SFU, if it is broadband service, you just need to configure VLAN, if a
PC or router is connected under the ONU, configure the tag mode. If a switch with VLAN
is connected under it, configure the trunk mode.
When broadband service processes above service mapping configuration, you need
to add following new configurations:
Configure bridge mode:

ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng)#vlan port eth_0/1 vlan 101,102,103------ Configure vlan transparent under
the trunk mode
3) Configure VOIP service
After the ip profile and vlan profile are created, it can be bound with ONU IP-HOST,
to complete corresponding configurations. And profile configuration mode is suggested
to use with simplified configuration together.
ZXAN(config)#pon-onu-mng gpon-onu_1/2/1:1

IP address can be static or DHCP mode, at present, support three modes: DHCP,
PPPOE and static:

ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)#voip-ip ipv4 mode static ip-profile voip-ip ip-address 10.23.45.1

mask 255.255.255.0 vlan-profile voip-vlan host 1 ------Static IP address mode

ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)# voip-ipipv4 mode dhcp vlan-profile voip-vlan host 1 --------------

-Get IP mode via DHCP

ZXAN(config-gpon-onu-mng)#voip-ip ipv4 mode pppoe username voiptest password aaaa

service-name abc vlan-profile voip-vlan host 1 ----------Mode to get IP via PPPOE

ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)#service 1 gemport 1 vlan 4001 -----Guarantee that service has

already been created

After ONU IP-HOST-related configurations are completed, you still need to

complete VOIP protocol-related configurations, and then complete the VOIP service
configuration. At present, VOIP protocol has three types: SIP/H.248/MGCP. There is no
ONU version that can support three kinds of protocols at the same time, so when
configuring, you need to first confirm the VOIP protocol type supported by ONU
version.

Configuration example:

ZXAN(config)#pon-onu-mng gpon_onu-1/2/1:1

ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng 1/2/1:1)#voip protocol ? ---Configure the VOIP protocol supported by the ONU
(parameters can be configured according to supporting states of the ONU), after you have chosen the

Configure multicast service

Except above service mapping configurations, you still need to add following
multicast configuration:
Multicast service configuration is basically consistent with HGU, and suggest to use
multicast simplified configuration and other simplified commands together:
ZXAN(config)#pon-onu-mng gpon_onu-1/2/1:1
ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng)# mvlan 4070 --------------Create multicast VLAN4070
ZXAN(gpon-onu-mng)# mvlan tag eth_0/1 strip----Configure the local No. 1 UNI port of the ONU as

4.6.6 Configure service-port

The service-port configuration of C600 is different from C300, it is configured under

the vport interface. Here, only consider tcont:gemport:vport as 1:1:1. In addition, to save
resources, suggest each ONU to use only one VPORT.
Single-tcont single-gemport correspond to single vport:
interface vport-1/1/1.1:1
service-port 1 user-vlan 46 vlan 4000
service-port 2 user-vlan 45 vlan 3499 svlan 3400
service-port 3 user-vlan 41 vlan 1700 svlan 1268
service-port 4 user-vlan 43 vlan 2700 svlan 2268
Multi-tcont multi-gemport correspond to single vport:

4.6.8 VPORT and GEMPORT Mapping Configuration

Configuring vport-mode or not under the PON port doesn’t matter, but under the
interface gpon-onu, be sure to modify vport mode before you create a gemport,
otherwise, after the gemport is created, it can be configured for the first time, later, it
can’t be modified.

5 EPON/10G EPON ONU Commissioning

5.1 Configure EPON Authentication Mode

Different from GPON, EPON needs to first set authentication mode. At present, C600
cancels onu-authentication-mode command in EPON under the global mode, but change
related configuration into commands under the PON port mode, auth-ctrl loid
enable/disable and auth-ctrl sn enable/disable.
1)When both loid and sn are disabled, correspond to MAC authentication mode; if
just loid enabled, correspond to hybrid mode of MAC+LOID; after both loid and sn are
enabled, correspond to hybrid authentication mode.
2)There is no separate loid authentication mode, sn authentication mode can only be
enabled under the circumstances that loid is enabled, that is, there is no separate sn
authentication mode, and do not support to use sn mode to add onu.
3)Under the circumstances that loid and sn are enabled, it is equivalent to the
function of auth-sn-as-loid.
4)Silence is enabled by default, and no switches can be set, that is to say, do not
support to disable silence.
Configuration example:

ZXAN(config-if-epon_olt-1/2/1)#auth-ctrl ?

loid LOID authentication mode

zte-sn SN authentication mode

ZXAN(config-if-epon_olt-1/2/1)#auth-ctrl loid ?

Precautions

1. ONU types that the system creates by default can’t be deleted and modified, and
user interfaces can’t be added / deleted for them.

5.3 Create Bandwidth Rate-limit Profile

5.3.1 EPON/10G EPON Rate-limit

EPON bandwidth management: Generally, downstream is used for rate-limit, while

upstream is used for DBA scheduling. C600 doesn’t support downstream SLA rate-limit
of ONU, by default, the upstream guaranteed bandwidth is 10M, and the maximum
bandwidth is 100M. If the default bandwidth fails to meet the requirement, you can solve
it through binding bandwidth profile or directly configuring and modifying bandwidth
parameters, while at the downstream direction, like EPON and GPON in C600 that don’t
support GEMPORT rate-limit, EPON also doesn't support downstream SLA rate-limit, only
support VPORT or service-port rate-limit. For bandwidth configuration, try to require the
customer to provide specific bandwidth rate-limit requirements.

ZTE Confidential Proprietary © 2019 ZTE Corporation. All rights reserved. Page 51
Confidential▲

5.3.2 Configure upstream SLA rate-limit profile

SLA rate-limit profile name is generally set according to requirements of customers.

Generally, customers increase gradually from 10M, 20M, 30M, 40M up to 100M, 150M,
200M. Configure SLA upstream bandwidth rate-limit profile following:
ZXAN(config)#epon ----------Enter the EPON configuration interface
ZXAN(config-epon)#onu-sla-profile 500M upstream assured 15000 maximum 51200 ------Create the
SLA profile, the name is 500M, set upstream bandwidth. But under some scenarios, to guarantee
customer user perception, generally, it will be 10%-20% more than actually configured bandwidth.
ZXAN(config)#interface epon_onu-1/14/16:1 ----------Enter the epon onu interface configuration
interface
ZXAN(config-if-epon_onu-1/14/16:1)#sla-profile 500M --------Bind the bandwidth profile
Precautions

The ONU bandwidth profile in the binding status can not be deleted.

5.3.3 Configure downstream VPORT or service-port ate-limit profile

Downstream VPORT or service-port rate-limit profile of EPON services are the same
as downstream rate-limit profile of GPON services, which can also be called together.
Choose the downstream bandwidth profile that you need to create, under config
mode:
ZXAN#con t
ZXAN(config)#

5.4 OLT Uplink Port Adds Service VLAN

EPON uplink VLAN configuration is as the same as GPON, just add the corresponding
VLAN to the uplink port or switchport. For specific configuration, please refer to Section 4
in Chapter 4.

5.5 Choose 10G EPON Working Mode

ZXAN(config)#interface epon_olt-1/2/1
ZXAN(config-if-epon_olt-1/4/1)#speed ? -----------Choose the working mode needed, generally,
symmetrical and asymmetric needs to be modified, if 1G ONU is connected, it doesn’t need to be
modified.

ONU

ZXAN(config-if)#show onu all-status epon-olt_1/2/1----View ONU registration status

Precautions

1) A single EPON port supports to register at most 64 ONUs, while a single 10G EPON port
supports to register at most 128 ONUs.
2) During actual applications of EPON, the quantity of ONUs under each PON needs to
confirmed through combining specific service and requirements of the customer. When

planning, try to ensure that types of ONUs connected under one PON port are the same, to
facilitate unified distribution of bandwidth, VLAN and so on.

5.6.2 Configure services under ONU interface

Under the EPON ONU interface, because it doesn’t need to configure service flows and
other configurations like GPON, it only needs to configure description information and
upstream bandwidth rate-limit and so on.
ZXAN(config)#interface epon_onu-1/2/1:1

5.6.3 Configure HGU remote management

If there are no special requirements, because all are transparently transmitted under
the EPON HGU remote management, there is no need to perform any configuration.

5.6.4 Configure SFU remote management

Enable the remote management automatic dispatching

ZXAN(config)#pon-onu-mng epon_onu-1/2/1:1

5.6.6 EPON ONU downstream rate-limit

For EPON ONUs, upstream direction rate-limit uses SLA profile, configured under the
interface epon_onu, while downstream rate-limit uses vport or service-port, configured
under the vport mode.
vport rate-limit mode
Traffic-policy rate-limit mode:
Policy rate-limit mode supports to configure upstream/downstream:
ZXAN(config-if-vport-1/2/2.10:1)#qos traffic-policy FTTH_HGU_20M direction egress

7.5.7 Method to connect the ODB port

An ODB port is added on the switching & control card of C600, and it is a port
connected under the Console port on the switching & control card, mainly used for
connection of the line card’s serial port, which can be understood that users can log on

the serial port of the line card through this port. We can enable or disable the ODB debug
port of a certain slot via CLI .

Note: Before you enable the ODB debug port of a certain slot, please be sure to disable it
first, to avoid from logging in the line card set last time.

ZXAN# odb-switch disable

Enable the ODB debug port of a certain slot:

ZXAN# odb-switch enable slotno 2

View current ODB to enable slot:

ZXAN#show odb-switch
ODB-switch enable on slotno:2
And then connect the serial port cable to the ODB port, login this serial port can log in to
the specified line card’s serial port .
When the ODB port is connected via a serial port cable, it also uses 115200 baud rate.

7.5.8 Distribute and query TCONT bandwidth

GPON supports to query amount of bandwidth already used, remaining bandwidth,

usage rate percentage of upstream TCONT fixed + assured bandwidth by PON ports via
CLI. Except to query based on single PON port, it still needs to support to use just one
command to query TCONT use states information of all PON ports.
Command: show pon bandwidth dba interface
C600#show pon bandwidth dba interface gpon_olt-1/6/1
interface channel configured(kbps) free(kbps) rate(x.x%)

7.5.9 Modify the length of optical fiber

When the distance exceeds 20KM, the distance of optical fiber needs to be modified:
ZXAN(config-if-gpon_olt-1/1/1)#fiber-distance ?
<0-400> Min distance, unit is 100m, only for GPON
ZXAN(config-if-gpon_olt-1/1/1)#fiber-distance 100 ?
