4. If D is the region bounded below by the cone z = x2 + y 2 and
above by the paraboloid z = 2 − x2 − y 2, then find the volume
of D by setting up the integral in cylindrical polar coordinates.
(Ans: 5π/6)

5. Set up the integral for evaluating D
f (r, θ, z) dz rdr dθ over
(i) D : right circular cylinder whose base is r = 3 cos θ and whose
top lies in the plane z = 5 − x.
2
(ii) D : solid right circular cylinder whose base is the region be-
tween circles r = cos θ, r = 2 cos θ and top lies in the plane
z = 3 − y.
3
(ii) D : solid bounded below by the xy plane, on the side by ρ = 2
and above by the cone ϕ = π/3. (Ans: 8π/3)
10. Find the volume of the solid bounded above by the paraboloid
z = 9 − x2 − y 2, below by the xy plane and lying outside the
cylinder x2 + y 2 = 1. (Ans: 32π)
11. Find the volume of the region bounded above by the sphere x2 +
y 2 + z√

= 2 and below by the paraboloid z = x2 + y 2. (Ans:
π/6(8 2 − 7))
12. Find volume of the solid,
(i) bounded above by cylinder z = x2 and below by the region
enclosed by the parabola y = 2 − x2 and the line y = x in the xy
plane. (Ans: 63/20)
(ii) in the first octant bounded by the coordinate planes, the
cylinder x2 + y 2 = 4 and the plane z + y = 3. (Ans: (9π − 8)/3)
