MANUFACTURING AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS INTEGRATION

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR PROPOSED PROGRAM OF STUDY IN THE U.S. :

My proposed stud
he MS in manufacturing and mechanical systems integration is an interdisciplinary
degree designed for individuals who wish to achieve competence in mechanical or
manufacturing engineering through an applied course of study.

I intend to focus on the The program includes courses in engineering, business

practices, and management functions found in many manufacturing enterprises.
The program is offered by the department of manufacturing and mechanical
engineering technology in collaboration with the Saunders College of Business and
the Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

Plan of study
The program consists of 36 semester credit hours and is comprised of core
courses, a three-course concentration, electives, and a capstone project, thesis, or
comprehensive exam. Concentrations are available in product design, automation,
quality, or electronics manufacturing. Students may be required to take additional
prerequisite courses depending on their background and the concentration they
select. The graduate director may approve the waiver of courses in the prerequisite
group from graduation requirements, depending on a student's academic and
employment background.

Cooperative Education
Full-time students are eligible to participate in RIT’s cooperative education
program. After completing two semesters (a minimum of 18 credit hours), students
may request approval to complete up to one year of cooperative education
employment related to their field of study.

operations research (or) teaches you important or techniques—with an emphasis on the

practical, real-world applications of or—through a combination of challenging coursework and
hands-on research.

in addition to computer literacy and writing competency requirements, our rigorous curriculum
includes seven graduate-level courses in such areas as optimization, applied probability, and
statistics as well as advanced topics in or that complement your academic interests and
career goals. you must complete 66 credit units, of which at least 42 must be in advanced
subjects, to earn your degree.
what’s more, you’ll put classroom theory into practice by writing a thesis based on
independent research you’ve conducted under the guidance of your faculty advisor. prior to
graduation, you’ll present your research to your fellow orc members.

upon completion of our two-year program, you’ll be ready to put your knowledge and skills to
good use in a variety of fields, including business, education, and research. in fact, recent
graduates of our program have been sought after for such positions as technical staff
members in business or industry, government planners, and private consultants.

Cornell Tech’s ORIE Masters combines Cornell University’s academic rigor with
the energy and opportunity that come with studying in the heart of New York’s tech
start-up community. Led by faculty who are actively shaping the future of Big Data,
you’ll master the intricacies of business analytics, optimal decision-making and
machine learning.

In parallel with your academic technical courses, you will also

complete Studio courses—an essential component of every Cornell Tech program.
These courses focus on preparing you for innovation within major tech companies
or entrepreneurship within startup ventures. In cross-disciplinary teams, you’ll work
with business, law, and other Cornell Tech students to create your own startup as
well as develop usable solutions for real corporations. In the process, you’ll
develop the business savvy and communication skills—as well as peerless
technical know-how—that have made previous graduates prime recruiting targets
of companies like Google, Facebook, and numerous startups.

ORIE students have the option of declaring one of two concentrations. To qualify
for the concentration, the students must take four courses from the list under the
corresponding concentration below:

Operations Analytics
 Optimization Methods

 Modeling Under Uncertainty

 Digital Marketing

 Service and Online Markets

 E-Logistics

 Health Tech, Data, and Systems

Focused on the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of
people, materials, information, equipment, and energy, this master of science in
industrial and systems engineering allows you to customize your course work while
working closely with industrial and systems engineering faculty in a contemporary,
applied research area. You will graduate with a variety of skills in the areas of
contemporary manufacturing processes, product development, ergonomic
analysis, logistics and supply chain management, and sustainable design and
development.

These programs have been developed to meet the needs of individuals with
backgrounds in engineering or the mathematical sciences who wish to enhance
their knowledge of the theory, development, and use of quantitative models for
design, analysis, risk management, and decision-making. This knowledge
applies to complex systems in the industrial, service, or public sectors,
including energy systems, supply chains, healthcare systems, and financial
systems. Students may concentrate on theoretical studies in preparation for
doctoral-level research, or on applications of state-of-the-art techniques to real
world problems.
