1 Importance of Animals

Children like you are fond of animals. Animals are


important to humans for many reasons. In this module, you will
learn the importance of animals to humans. Have fun and enjoy
each activity.

I - Read the story and answer the questions that follow.

At the Restaurant

Rulinas family dined at UZ Restaurant. They ordered their


favorite foods. Papa Cio ordered his favorite seafood pancit
topped with quail egg. Mama Ly added sinigang na hipon and
grilled tuna belly. Ate Uan and Trish asked mama Ly to order
also their favorite fried chicken and fresh milk. They enjoyed
eating together with their delicious favorite foods.

What Is It

Importance of Animals
• Animals help us in many ways.

A. Animals are sources of food.


Some animals give us food. They give us meat, milk, eggs,
cheese and butter.

B. Animals can be kept as pets at home and companions of


people
Many people take care of animals as pets. The most
common pets are cats, dogs, rabbits, pigs and fishes. They are
domesticated animals at home. Other pets are good to play with
and may make a nice companion.

C. Animals help people do their work.
Carabaos help farmers plow the fields. They help prepare
the land for planting.

Horses, cows and camels can carry heavy things and people
to other places.

D. Animals can also be a source of clothing and other materials
People get clothing materials like wool, leather, fur and silk
for coats. The skin of some animals like snakes and crocodiles is
used to make leather shoes, belts and bags.
