Course Credits: 3 units Contact Hours/Week: 18 weeks/54 hours
Course Description: This course is an introduction to the concept of entrepreneurship. The course will cover the characteristics of and types of
entrepreneurs, identifying problems and opportunities, creative problem solving, developing a viable business model and
entrepreneurial ethics. With the demand for understanding today’s global entrepreneurial economy, it is beneficial for
people and most especially business students to understand and embrace an entrepreneurial mindset as well as maximize its
benefits, not just for his/her personal gain but as part of his/her contribution to society.
The lessons found here will give you a bird’s eye view of what are to come and what you need to acquire to be
prepared to take on the risks of entrepreneurship. The module will give you a run-down of the other essential characteristics
of successful entrepreneurs and how successful business ventures are built and sustained.

Course Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

• Develop an understanding of the nature of entrepreneurship & determine whether you want to be an entrepreneur with
your own business or a corporate entrepreneur (entrepreneur in someone else’s business)
• Understand how to identify opportunities (problems), develop creative solutions and build a viable business model around
these
• Identify and understand the driving forces of new venture success
• Understand the ethical and legitimacy challenges that face entrepreneurs with new ventures

2. Clearly communicate in several modes of delivery (oral, written and visual) in English, Filipino and Ninorte Samarnon.

Course Requirements CLASSROOM POLICIES


1. Students are required to observe proper decorum in class at all times; such as, maintaining silence during class,

5. In case of illness, the faculty-in-charge should be notified and shown a medical certificate.
6. If for any valid reason the student will not be able to attend the class, an excuse letter should be presented to
avoid being marked absent.
7. Any student who decides to drop the course (within the allowable period) should submit a copy of the dropping
slip to the teacher, to be given an official grade of DROPPED. Otherwise, the student receives a grade of 5.0.
8. Anyone caught cheating (in any form) will automatically get a failing grade.
9. All written reports and assignments should be submitted on the scheduled date. Deduction of 10 points per day
from the total score will be made for late submissions.
10. The faculty-in-charge should be notified in case the student will not be able to take any quizzes and major exams.

Upon failure to do so, the student will be given a score of zero for the missed exam.
ONLINE LEARNING POLICIES (CHAT BOX/MOODLE)
a. E-handouts and modules containing topics of the course will be uploaded in the designated class chat box and will
be uploaded in the respective Google Classroom.
b. Students should observe the consultation hours set by the subject Professor when sending or posting messages in
the chat box.
c. Chat box should only be used for the subject. Students should avoid posting unrelated messages or conversations
in the GC.
d. Students should also use their real names on facebook and avoid using pseudonyms or fictitious names.
e. Any student who decides to drop the course (within the allowable period) should submit a copy of the dropping
slip to the subject Professor, to be given an official grade of DROPPED. Otherwise, the student receives a grade of 5.0.
f. Students are expected and must do ORIGINAL work for all assignments, case studies or projects. Students are
responsible for their own conduct and all cases of dishonesty. Students caught plagiarizing or cheating (in any form)
will automatically receive a 5.0 for that quiz, exam, project and assignment.
g. All written reports and assignments should be submitted on the scheduled date.
h. The faculty-in-charge should be notified in case the student will not be able to take any of the major exams. Failure
to do so, the student will be given a grade of 5.0 for the missed exam.
i. For any concerns from the class, the class president will be the one to notify the faculty-in-charge of the said
concern.
j. Additional topics can also be added to the course based on the Instructor’s expertise and personal preference in
teaching this course.
