EDIZA, RN MAN DEAN, NURSING PROGRAM Dear Maam; An Urian Greeting! We, the Level VI Nursing Students, N43 Group 3 is currently having Research II Subject. We are humbly asking for your permission to allow us to have our research testing to be started next week (July 11-16, 2011). Our research title is The level of involvement of Staff Nurses in Operating Room experience of the Level IV Student Nurses in selected public hospitals in Butuan City, and the respondents of the study are the to Level assess IV the learning Student Nurses assigned in public and hospitals in Butuan City. The purpose of this study is involvement, in contribution participation of the OR Staff nurses in the student nurses Perioperative Phases: Preoperative, Intraoperative and Postoperative phase. THE LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT OF OR STAFF NURSE IN THE OR EXPERIENCE OF THE LEVEL IV STUDENT NURSES IN SELECTED HOSPITALS IN BUTUAN CITY

The OR Staff nurse was able to assist the student nurse/me in the following task/responsibilities:
Preoperative Phase: 1. Observe the general physical status and interaction with the family. 2. Assess psychosocial behavior, sensory perceptual alterations and emotional status 3. Take and record the vital signs as baseline data. 4. Verify the undergone laboratory test results such as X-rays, CBC, and urine exams. 5. Administer perioperative medications while observing safety precautions (the 3 checks), as ordered. 6. Assess the level of anxiety and apprehension

Intraoperative Phase: 1. Identify the patient and had introduced self. 2. Review the chart for the verification of the correct site of Surgery and checklist. 3. Report to the physician or anesthesiologist any relative or absolute contraindications to intraoperative medications that may be used. 4. Assist the transfer of the patient safely into
the OR bed. 5. Properly position the patient and maintain correct body alignment. 6. Monitor safety precautions such as putting restraints and explained its importance in simple and understandable terms. 7. Perform aseptic techniques such as surgical handwashing and observing and maintaining the principles within the sterile field. 8. Maintain OR standards and recommended practices for the perioperative patient. 9. Preserve patients dignity and avoid undue exposure by drapes.
