ARTICLE 4.

NAHARRUDIN M. ULES MPA

1. What are some of the ethical issues faced by businesses today? Describe
each.

 Businesses today face many ethical challenges that span various aspects of their

operations. Data privacy has become a critical concern, with companies

struggling to balance the value of consumer information against individuals' rights

to privacy. The rise of artificial intelligence brings questions of algorithmic bias

and transparency. Environmental sustainability is increasingly urgent, forcing

businesses to reconsider their impact on the planet. Labor practices, from fair

wages to safe working conditions, remain under scrutiny, especially in global

supply chains. Diversity and inclusion efforts have gained prominence, pushing

companies to create more equitable workplaces. Corporate transparency,

product safety, and cybersecurity present ongoing challenges. Taxation

strategies and whistleblower protection also pose ethical dilemmas. As society's

expectations evolve, businesses must navigate these complex issues to maintain

public trust and operate responsibly.

2. If you are part of management of a business entity how would you resolve
these issues mentioned in number 1? Detail your answer.

In my capacity as a member of the management facing ethical practices in business

today, the approach I would take would be very active and systematic. Strategy

development would begin with a sound ethical foundation and corporate tone at the top

that focuses on honesty. Such training for the employees would become a regular

procedure and include data privacy, and the preservation of the environment. To
increase transparency and effectiveness, we would ensure the development of open

reporting channels and whistleblowing protections. For environmental issues, we would

have established stringent sustainability objectives and embraced environmentally

sustainable policies. Concerning labor, we would guarantee the payment of reasonable

wages and sound working conditions from tier-one suppliers to end products. These

would be addressed through strategic staffing and retention policies as well as through

compliance with diversity and inclusiveness standards. We would also establish an

ethics committee whose responsibility would be to undertake a constant review of our

ethical practices in light of the emerging ethical risks. Incorporating ethical issues in

strategic decision-making would help us gain the trust of customers, and employees, as

well as contribute to the improvement of the wellbeing of the society.
