19. If the objective function for an L.P.P is Z=3x – 4y and the corner points
for the bounded feasible region are (0,0), (5,0), (6,5), (6,8), (4,10) and
(0,8), then the minimum value of Z occurs at
a) (0,0) b) (0,8) c) (5,0) d) (4,10)
20. In an L.P.P if the objective function Z = ax + by has same maximum
value on two corner points of the feasible region, then the number of
points at which maximum value of Z occurs is
a) 0 b) 2 c) finite d) infinite
II. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING: 5 x 2= 10
21. Find the present value of a perpetuity of ₹900 payable at the end of each
year, if money is worth 5% per annum.
22. At what rate of interest will the present value of a perpetuity of ₹300
payable at the end of each quarter be ₹24000?
23. A person invests ₹10000 in 10% ₹100 shares of a company available at a
premium of ₹25. Find his rate of return.
24. A machine costing ₹30000 is expected to have a useful life of 13 years
and a final scrap value of ₹4000. Find the annual depreciation charge
using straight line method.
25. A vehicle costing ₹900000 has a scrap value of ₹270000. If annual
depreciation charge is ₹70000, find its useful life in years.
III. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: 6x3=

32. A company sets aside a sum of ₹1000 at the end of each year in a
sinking fund so that at the end of 10 years, it would amount to a balance
sufficient to replace the machinery. Assuming that the cost of machinery
remains constant at the end of 10 years and that money earns 5% per
annum compound interest, find the cost of the machinery.
33. Mr. Bharti wishes to purchase a flat for ₹60,00,000 with a down payment
of ₹1000000 and balance in equal monthly payments for 20 years. If
bank charges 7.5% p.a. compounded monthly, calculate the EMI. (Given
(1.00625)240= 4.4608)
34. David wants to invest atmost ₹12000 in Bonds A and B. According to the
rule, he has to invest atleast ₹2000 in Bond A and atleast ₹4000 in Bond
B. If the rates of interest on Bonds A and B respectively are 8% and 10%
per annum, formulate the problem as L.P.P. and solve it graphically for
maximum interest. Also determine the maximum interest received in a
year.
35. A dietician wishes to mix two types of food in such a way that the
vitamin contents of the mixture contain atleast 8 units of vitamin A, and
10 units of vitamin C. Food I contains 2 units/kg of vitamin A and 1
unit/kg of vitamin C. Food II contains 1 unit/kg of vitamin A and 2
units/kg of vitamin C. It costs ₹50 per kg to purchase food I and ₹70 per
kg to purchase food II. Determine the minimum cost of such a mixture.
V. CASE STUDY: 3 X 4 = 12
36. In year 2000m Mr. Talwar took a home loan of ₹3000000 from State
Bank of India at 7.5% p.a. compounded monthly for 20 years.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
a) Find the equated monthly installment paid by Mr. Talwar.
b) Find the interest paid by Mr. Talwar in 150 th payment.
OR
Find the principal paid by Mr. Talwar in 150th Payment.
c) Find the total interest paid by Mr. Talwar.
[Use (1.00625)240 = 4.4608, (1.00625)91 = 1.7629, (1.00625)48 = 1.1187]
37. The feasible region for an L.P.P is shown in the figure given below:
