● Academic Choir of Students' Cultural Center of University of Niš was founded in 1972, on the

initiative of conductor Radojica Milosavljević - Ice. For many years, Choir has successfully performed all
over Serbia, former Yugoslavia and Europe, under the leadership of MA Milorad Veljković and Slobodan
Dejanović. From 1999. to 2012, artistic director and conductor of the Choir was Dr Suzana Kostić, and
since November 2012. MA Zoran Stanisavljević, Ful-time professor at the Faculty of Arts in Niš becomes
the conductor and artistic director of the Choir.

Academic Choir exists continuously for 48 years and owes its longevity and success to great conductors
and artists who guided it, and the excellent and dedicated singers who maintained it all these years.
What distinguishes Academic Choir of SKC is its program orientation towards the masterpieces of
domestic and international choral literature, together with the artistic refinement and high
interpretative range. In terms of the program orientation, the Choir is dedicated to achievements of all
epochs and styles, with special emphasis on recent works of modern authors and contemporary choral
literature. By performing a-Capella program and major vocal-instrumental works, the Choir clearly
stands out with its quality and uniqueness.

Academic Choir is a real value in the culture of the City of Niš and Serbia, as confirmed through
numerous successful concerts and performances, honors, prizes, expert jury critics and audience
awards. During the years of existence, many singers and conductors have left their personal mark. There
were about 2.800 singers during these years and all of them and their teamwork are creditable for the
long and successful tradition of Academic Choir. The Choir marked its work by participating in numerous
prestigious festivals in the country and abroad (Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Macedonia, France,
Ukraine, Russia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, Republic of Srpska, Slovakia, Turkey, Poland), as well as
by winning the numerous awards. Some of the most important awards are:

● Gold medal and the category winner at the International Choral Competition Canakkale, Turkey,
2019.

● Grand Prix at the International Festival “Chernomorski Sounds”, Balchik,Bulgaria, 2016.

● Award for The Best Mixed Choir at the International Festival “Chernomorski Sounds”, Balchik,
Bulgaria, 2016.

● First Award "Vojislav Ilić" for The Best Big Choir at the Festival “Choirs Among Frescoes”,
Belgrade, 2013.

● Special Recognition for Virtuosity in Performing of the Composition and Overall Impression, 7th
MFK “Golden Fairy”, Prijedor, 2007.

● Grand Prix at the International Festival “Zvučit Moskva”in Moscow, Russia, 2004.

● Grand Prix at the International Festival of Yalta, Ukraine, 2003.

● Two gold medals and prizes at the International Youth Festival in Made, Netherlands, 1987.

● Golden Plaque "Mokranjac”


● Golden Statuette “Kosta Abrašević”

● The Award for the Best Performing of Local Composers at the Yugoslav choir festivals

● October Award of the City of Niš and Silver Vignette of the University of Niš, for outstanding
achievements and high musical quality.

Academic Choir has recorded two LPs, several television projects and four CDs.
