SUBJECT : NOSE LANDING GEAR --- WHEEL AXLE
EFFECTIVITY : All MS880B, MS880B-D, MS881, MS883, MS884, MS885, MS886, MS887, MS890A,
MS890B, MS892A150, MS892B150, MS892E150, MS892E-D150, MS893A, MS893B,
MS893E, MS893E-D, MS894A, MS894E, Rallye 100S, Rallye 100S-D, Rallye 100ST,
Rallye 100ST-D, Rallye 110ST, Rallye 150ST, Rallye 150ST-D, Rallye 150T, Rallye 150T-D,
Rallye 150SV, Rallye 150SVS, Rallye 180T, Rallye 180TS, Rallye 180T-D, Rallye 235A, Rallye
235F, Rallye 235E, Rallye 235E-D airplanes.
PURPOSE : Reduce possibility of a nose gear wheel axle fatigue failure.
PURPOSE OF REVISION 3 :
--- To reduce inspection interval from 500 hours to 200 hours.
--- To add an inspection between axle radius and nose landing gear fork
--- To add Item 7 on the Figure 1
--- To take into account second---hand nose landing gears and second---hand wheel axles.
APPLICATION :
--- Replacement of nose landing gear or wheel axle with a second---hand part : apply
operation 7) of Paragraph DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
and replace the 4 attaching screws (2) before the first flight.
--- Within the next 50 hours after this SB issue, then every 200 hours apply the
instructions described in Paragraph DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
INSTRUCTIONS.
--- Every 2000 hours apply the instructions described in Paragraph DESCRIPTION OF
ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS and replace the 4 attaching screws (2).
DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS :
NOTE :
Operations required in this Service Bulletin must be accomplished by persons authorized by
their Airworthiness Authorities and according to the procedure described hereafter.
1) Install the airplane on jacks.
2) Remove the nose gear wheel fairing (if installed).
3) Remove the nose gear wheel.
4) Remove the nose gear wheel axle (3), retain the 4 attaching screws (2), the 4 washers
(4) and (if installed) the thickness washer (1) ; discard the locknuts (5).
5) Clean the wheel and the axle.
6) Perform a detailed visual inspection of the intersection between the axle radius and
nose landing gear fork [area 1 (7)] to look for evidence of chafing between the wheel
bearing race and axle surface. If necessary, replace nose gear wheel axle (3).

7) Detect cracks on nose wheel axle by dye penetrant inspection, check for absence
of distortion and nicks or wear ; change the axle if necessary.
8) Check the 4 attaching screws for condition, check for absence of distortion,
scratches and nicks or wear ; change the screws if necessary.
NOTE :
Every 2000 hours, replace the 4 attaching screws (2) P/N Z00.N5101231508 with
new ones.
9) Coat lightly the axle contacts and the wheel bearings with AIR 4210B (MIL.G.23827A)
grease.
CAUTION
THE NEW WHEEL AXLE P/N 895.42.0.027.0 SUPPLIED AS SPARES WILL BE
MANDATORILY INSTALLED WITH THE THICKNESS WASHER (1)
10) Attach the nose gear wheel axle (3) on the landing gear (6) with 4 attaching
screws (2) P/N Z00.N5101231508, 4 washers (4), P/N Z00.N5701039365 and (if
installed), the thickness washer (1) and 4 new locknuts (5) P/N Z00.N5401458376.
11) Install the nose gear wheel.
12) Install the nose gear wheel fairing (if necessary).
13) Check nose gear wheel for free rotation.
14) Set the airplane on its wheels again.
NOTE :
Refer to the Spares Catalog corresponding to your airplane for P/N of the parts to be
replaced.
UPDATING OF THE AIRCRAFT DOCUMENTATION :
Upon completion of Service Bulletin No. SB 150---32, Revision 3 ”NOSE LANDING GEAR ---
WHEEL AXLE”, make an appropriate maintenance record entry.
WARNING : SOCATA considers that it is MANDATORY for operators to comply with the instructions of
this SB.
Operators who arbitrarily ignore the compliance statement indicated in this SB do so at their
own risk.
