Event Annunciator

AN
The Event Annunciator AN uses a new concept in monitoring, indication and recording of alarms and

events. The AN affords major savings in cables, labor and space by deploying a modular architecture,

whereby data acquisition modules DM1 are installed close to the process being monitored, receiving dry

contacts from alarms and events and transmitting this information to the AN by way of serial

communication RS485 (only a pair of wires) up to a distance of 1300 meters. The number of contacts

monitored can be expanded simply by adding on new DM1 modules, with the AN preserving its fixed

dimensions of 144x144x120mm. Each alarm contact can be replicated in one or two dry contacts by

adding DM3 output modules, that can also be linked to the AN by a single wire pair (RS485, maximum

distance of 1300m).

Functions and Features:

• Up to 400 alarm contacts can be monitored by a single AN, dependent on the number of DM1

Input Modules used;

• Input (DM1) and output (DM3) modules are available in versions with 8, 16 or 24 inputs or

outputs configurable in parameter definition as NO or NC;

• Indication of up to three simultaneous events in alpha-numeric displays with backlight; additional simultaneous events will be displayed

as numbers on LED screen for acknowledgement by scroll down function;

• Front keys for navigation between event screens, in addition to silencing the siren, acknowledging and querying event information;

• Selectable ISA standard alarm sequence among ISA1, ISA1B, ISA2A or ISA2C;

• Non-volatile mass memory for records of date and time of beginning, end and acknowledgement of events. Internal clock with hour,

minute, second, day, month and year;

• RS232 port for event text configuration and editing, each with two 16-character lines;

• RS485 serial port for integration to on-line supervision and monitoring systems with Modbus RTU protocol;

• Two universal power feed inputs (85...265Vdc/Vac) independent and insulated;

• Contact for signaling internal failure (self-diagnosis) or failure of one or both power inputs and contact for connection of external siren;

• Communication by optic fiber, using external electrical-optical converter;

Notes:
1) The diagram above is an example of the connection of 8-input DM1 and 8-output DM3 modules, however
any combination of modules with 8, 16 or 24 inputs or outputs is possible. See Technical Manual for the AN;
2) Power feed to DM1 and DM3 modules can be done via 5V and 12V outputs on the AN or via PS power source
(see Technical Features).
3) All contacts shown with AN and DM3 in de-energized condition.
