Women in Sports
Sports has the ability to transform lives. The ability to promote gender equality by
encouraging teamwork, independence, resilience, and self-assurance in women and
girls. Women in sport defy gender conventions and social expectations, serve as
motivating role models, and portray men and women as equals. However, less
funding, scholarships, and opportunities are available for women and girls in sports.
When women's sports receive far less media attention, sponsorships, and marketing,
the disparity grows.
Fans of all sports, whether it be cricket, football, or tennis, watch today's games.
Sports are now more of a contentious issue when it comes to gender than just
enjoying the thrill of watching the professionals do what they excel at. Due to low
viewership, women's earnings in numerous sports are typically lower than those of
men. The leagues can't afford to pay the women as much as the men under their
contracts since women's sports don't bring in enough money. Which, in my opinion,
is exceedingly incorrect.
If women are given the same opportunities as men, perhaps in ten years they will be
far ahead of where men are now.
I can't imagine my life without sports, whether I'm playing them or just watching
them. Throughout my life, I have admired a number of female athletes, including
Sarah Taylor, a former English cricketer. She was appointed by Sussex to work with
the club's wicketkeepers, and she is believed to be the first woman to coach men's
cricket in the UK. Nida Dar is a Pakistani cricketer who also plays for Sydney
Thunders and the National Cricket team. She is a right arm off break spinner who has
received the most nominations of any Pakistani female cricketer—four—for the ICC
player of the month award.
In light of the above discussion, it may be concluded that women should be
encouraged and provided with the exact same opportunities as men. To take this
thought further, BCCI, The Board of Control for Cricket in India, announced that
“Female cricketers will be paid the exact same amount as their male counterparts.”
Such august initiatives could lead to more confident women. It could motivate, uplift
and boost females into becoming the next future rising stars!
