laid out the parts to minimize
waste. The piece labeled
“back” has angled ends and

is hard to measure, so we’ve

Lay your 3-piece assembly

100° Template on a piece of stock and trace
the opening. Carry your
layout lines across the edge
at a 100° angle to account
for the angled ends. Saw
outside your lines and trim
to fit.

Once the front fits between the ends, drill and screw
as shown. Note how the screws are angled to keep
them from breaking out. Once the front is installed,
the edges and corners will need trimming.

Plane the bottom.

Plane the ends

and corners.

Start with slightly over-

To make the
handle, trace the
back of the tote
onto a wide piece
of stock. Trim ¾”
(19mm) off the
narrow side to
account for the
thickness of the
bottom. Slowly
trim the angled
ends until the
piece sits neatly
inside the tote.
