The process it undertakes to produce Mabati mills

Producing Mabati (corrugated iron sheets) involves several key steps, typically undertaken in a
steel rolling mill. Here's an outline of the general process:

1. Raw Material Preparation: The primary raw material for Mabati is steel. Steel coils are
purchased from suppliers and inspected for quality.

2. Cold Rolling: The steel coils are passed through cold rolling mills to reduce thickness and
achieve the desired gauge. Cold rolling improves the steel's surface finish and mechanical
properties.

3. Annealing: The cold-rolled steel is annealed to soften it, making it more ductile and
improving its workability. This involves heating the steel in a controlled atmosphere and then
cooling down.
4. Pickling: The annealed steel is pickled to remove any oxides and scale formed during the
rolling and annealing processes. This is typically done using an acid bath.

5. Galvanizing (Zinc Coating): To prevent rusting and improve durability, the steel sheets are
coated with zinc through a hot-dip galvanizing process. The steel is dipped in a bath of molten
zinc, which forms a protective layer.

6. Corrugating: The galvanized steel sheets are then passed through a set of rollers to form the
characteristic corrugated pattern. This process increases the strength and rigidity of the sheets.

7. Cutting and Shaping: The corrugated sheets are cut to the required lengths and may be
shaped further, depending on the specific product requirements.
8. Quality Control: Throughout the manufacturing process, the sheets undergo rigorous quality
checks to ensure they meet the required standards in terms of thickness, coating, and overall
quality.
9. Packaging and Distribution: The finished sheets are packaged and prepared for distribution.
Proper packaging ensures the sheets are protected during transportation.

Each of these steps requires specialized machinery and skilled personnel to ensure the production
of high-quality Mabati sheets.
