2 a) Discuss the elements of structure of queuing system and their characteristics. CO3 L2
b) In a store with one server, 9 customers arrive on an average of 5 minutes. Service is done CO3 L3
for 10 customers in 5 minutes. Find:
(i) The average no of customers in the system.
(ii) The average queue length.
(iii) The average time a customer spends in the store.
(iv) The average time a customer waits before being served.
3 a) Use graphical method in solving the following game and find the value of the game. CO3 L3

b) Use dominance to reduce the following pay-off matrix to a 2 × 2 game and hence find the CO3 L3
optimal strategies and the value of the game:

(iii) Find the critical path.
5 Analyse the methodology of simulation with respect to queuing systems and Inventory CO4 L2
systems.
6 A bakery keeps stock of a popular brand of cake. Previous experience shows the daily CO4 L3
demand pattern for the item with associated probabilities, as given below:

Use the following sequence of random numbers to simulate the demand for next 10 days.
Random numbers: 25, 39, 65, 76, 12, 05, 73, 89, 19, 49. Also estimate the daily average
demand for the cakes on the basis of the simulated data.
