Being Knit Together

Colossians 2:2

Introduction:

Knit means to unite or cause to unite

When we use "knit" in spiritual matters it goes like this:

Being united on something spiritual will put us together in maturity and growth.

The world's point of view is putting Biblical principles behind its deceitful teaching, in this passage, Paul
warns Christians not to be taken in by deceptive arguments.

These claims are attractive, but are merely tricks: they sound true, but they are not. Arguing for self-
denial, legalism, visions, and other practices only looks good to observers.

What does it mean to knit together?

1. Is knowing Jesus together

I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay
down my life for the sheep” (John 10:14–15).

Just as Jesus knows us intimately, if we are his sheep, we also know him. Every day he invites us into a
mutual knowing relationship with him through Scripture.

2. Is nurturing our spiritual life together

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
(Hebrews 13:16)

(Particularly caring for each other) Teaching that is nourishing to the soul uplifts others, builds their
faith, and gives them the confidence to meet life's challenges.

3. Is interceding in prayer together

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We
continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding
that the Spirit gives, (Colossians 1:9)
Praying for others is an unselfish expression of love. Why does God want us to pray for others? Because
intercessory prayer reflects God's own character of outgoing love and mercy. God wants us to think like
He does, and praying for others helps us to think beyond ourselves and to grow in compassion for
others.

4. Is training in righteousness together

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for
training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2
Timothy 3:16-17)

Training in righteousness is to equip for good work the servants of God!

And what does equip mean? To equip means to provide for. And so, “Training in righteousness is to
provide for good work the servants of God!

Everything that a Christian does is to be done for the Lord; and so, All Christians are to be trained in
righteousness to provide for doing good work! In other words, All Christians are to be trained in
righteousness to have all the tools and skills for doing good work!

Conclusion:

(Show an example of four friends and a paralytic man)

If we want to grow in our spiritual life, we must know Jesus, nurture each other, intercede in prayer, and
train ourselves in spiritual matters.
