1 - And The Prince is bored of all the fighting and has warned them
that if it doesn’t stop he’s going to get involved and it won’t be pretty! 2 - Is in love with a girl
2 - Also, the Capulets have a daughter called Juliet and The 4 - Rosaline
Montague’s have a son called Romeo
1 - Bless you No

Lord Cap
1, 2 &3 - Right!
No
2 - So what happens now?
Paris
4 - Well now we go across to the Capulet house
I really, really, really, really, really, really, really love her! Honest I do!
1 - Where Juliet lives
Lord Cap
4 - And Paris has come round to see if he will be allowed to marry
Juliet No
Lord Cap
Act 1 Scene 2 No
Paris – Lord Capulet, I like your Daughter, can I marry her? Please!
Lord Capulet – Paris buddy, listen, my daughter is only 13. She can’t Lord Cap
even drive yet! Why don’t you wait about 2 more years and then we can talk No. no, no, no, no ,no!
Paris – Pleeeeeeease, Pretty Please
Song (Baby I Love You) Lord Capulet – Hmmm, Well I am having this really cool party tonight.
Song Why don’t you come, and if Juliet likes you and says yes, then, why not!
Lord Cap
Act 1 Scene 3 4 - Well you had to marry someone who was considered the same
social class as them, so if you were rich then you could only marry a rich person
(Enter Lady Capulet, Nurse and Juliet) and if you were poor then you wouldn’t even be allowed to speak to a rich
Lady Capulet – Juliette, my daughter, I hear Paris thinks you are really person.
cute. 3 - So is that why Romeo and Juliet had never spoken
Nurse – I have been your nurse all your life Juliette, and I believe you 4 - Exactly!
should think about this guy
2 - So at the party Juliet is being set up with Paris then
Lady Capulet – Have you thought about marriage yet, because he is
very good looking 3 - Because he’s from the same class and wealthy
Nurse – Hey lets go to the party! 1 - I get it! So what were these parties like then?
(All Exit) 4 - Well they were big posh attractions and everyone wore masks and
dressed up and danced with each other
(Narrators enter)
3 - So Juliet will have to dance with Paris, even though she’s not met
1 - That seems a bit unfair him yet
4 - What does? 4 - Yeah it’s how they will be introduced
3 - Well, she’s only 13 and her mum was trying to get her to get 2 - Cool, well let’s get the party started then!
married, that seems a bit young!
(They go to leave)
2 - Yeah, I mean, I don’t even like boys, I definitely don’t want to marry
one eeerrrrrgggghhhhhhh 3 - Hang on!
4 - But you have to remember that life was very different then 1, 2 & 4 - What?
2 - How? 3 - I’ve just thought of something, Romeo and his friends are going to
be at the party, because they want to meet girls right?
4 - Well to start with, women weren’t allowed to work so they needed
to find someone who could look after them as they weren’t allowed money of 1 & 2 - Right
their own.
3 - But this is a Capulet party, if he or his boys get caught that’s going
1 - Seems a bit unfair to me to be big trouble!
4 - It was and on top of that you weren’t allowed to marry just anyone 2 - Probably a good job that they are wearing masks then
2 - What do you mean? 1 – Let’s hope that they don’t do anything stupid and get caught
3 - Are all of Shakespeare’s plays this exciting? Romeo – (To himself whilst taking off mask to get a better look at
Juliet) O she doth teach the torches to burn bright
4 - Yeah they are!
Tybalt – (Noticing Romeo) What! a Montague in the house of Capulet?
2 - I’m definitely going to have to read more after this!
Lord Capulet – Tybalt, don’t pick a fight tonight
4 - So back we go to Verona and on to the party!
Tybalt – What!? Aghhhh…. I will get him later
(Tybalt Exits)
Romeo – well here we are, but I don’t see Rosaline Romeo – (Dramatically to audience) Noooo… my mom is gonna kick
off! I just fell in love with a Capulet!
Benvolio – Dude, I told you, look at the other girls
(All Exit, except Juliet and Nurse)
Romeo – Yeah, yeah.
Juliet – Nurse who was that?
Mercutio – You need to laugh my friend, If love be rough with you; be
rough with love. Nurse – Romeo a Montague
Romeo – Leave me alone Juliet – (Dramatically to audience) Noooo… Uh oh, that’s trouble, I just
fell in love with a Montague
(Enter Lord and Lady Capulet, Juliet, Tybalt and Nurse. All other
characters make up partygoers in masks, all dancing around having fun) (All Exit)

Juliet – Ay Me!
(Enter Friar Lawrence)
Romeo – (Overwhelmed with her words) She speaks! Oh speak again
bright angel Friar Lawrence – Ah what a beautiful morning (Picks and imaginary
flower, sniffs in and the prick his finger) Ouch. Plants, like people, can be both
Juliet – O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father good and evil.
and refuse thy name; Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and ill no longer
be a Capulet, what’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name (Enter Romeo)
would smell as sweet. Friar Lawrence – Romeo, what brings you here today?
Romeo – (Aside) She is my sworn enemy, but look at her, WOW she Romeo – I have a small request, and it’s slightly complicated…. I want
hot! See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand! Oh that I were a glove upon to get married… to Juliet.
that hand, that I might touch that cheek. (Romeo is in a daze)
Friar Lawrence – (Outraged) The Capulet!
Juliet – O Romeo, Romeo!... where are you? Hello! HEY ROMEO
Romeo – Yeah
Romeo – Oh yeah sorry, just day dreaming over here, Hey I love you.
Friar Lawrence – (Still outraged) Are you crazy?
Juliet – and I love you
Romeo – But I am in love
Romeo – Hey I got an idea, let’s get married.
Song (Baby I Love You)
Juliet – Okay, I will send my Nurse tomorrow to find out the time and
place of our marriage. Song
Juliet – Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I Father Lawrence
shall say good night till it be the morrow
No
(Juliet exits)
Romeo
Romeo – I need to go talk to Friar Lawrence to figure out this marriage
thing I really, really, really, really love her!
No

Romeo Friar Lawrence’s
Please! Nurse – Ok
Father Lawrence (All Exit)
No. no, no, no, no ,no! (Narrators Enter)
(Enter Mercutio and Benvolio) 4 - The reason it’s a secret is because the Montagues and the Capulets
hate each other and would never allow them to marry
Benvolio – Mercutio, have you seen Romeo since last night party?
3 - So why is Friar Lawrence letting it happen then?
Mercutio – (Joking) He’s probably still in love with Rosaline
4 - Well he just wants peace in Verona and I think he’s hoping that if
(Romeo enters) the children get married it will force the two families to be nice to each other
1 - I don’t think that’s going to happen Juliet – My Nurse told me to meet you here to be married
4 - But its got to be worth a try, like Juliet said earlier when she was on Romeo – ready
the balcony “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name
would smell as sweet” Juliet – Ready
1 - I literally have no clue what that means Friar Lawrence – Okay all done, you‘re married. You can now kiss the
bride.
4 - Well she’s basically saying that a name doesn’t mean anything, its
just what we call people and she loves Romeo because of who he is, not who his (Romeo and Juliet look at each other, then at Friar Lawrence, shaking
family are. their heads ‘No’)
1 - Well I think its lovely Friar Lawrence – OK fine, you can shake hands then.
2 - Yeah me too. (Romeo and Juliet look at each other again and decide to high five
instead, audience cheer and throw confetti as they all exit)
3 - Well we better get ready for the wedding
3 - And you guys can have some confetti to throw when they walk (Enter Benvolio and Mercutio. Tybalt enters from opposite side)
back up the aisle afterwards
Tybalt – (angry) Where’s Romeo?
4 - And finally, when Friar Lawrence tells you, it’s important to give the
Mercutio – You want some of me?
happy couple a big cheer
Tybalt – No I want Romeo
2 - Lets practice that (get each side to cheer, then all together)
(Enter Romeo)
3 - Hey here comes the Friar, looks like we are set to go!
Romeo – My good friends
(Narrators join the audience to cue them in the right places)
Tybalt – Bring it on Romeo
Tybalt – Bring it on
(Tybalt stabs Mercutio) Friar Lawrence – Yeah, I heard, not too good of you, The prince says
you are banished from the kingdom.
Romeo – Mercutio!
Romeo – Noooooooo… I will never be able to see my Juliet again!
Mercutio – A Plague on both your houses
(Romeo collapses to the floor crying melodramatically, Nurse enters)
(Mercutio Dies)
Nurse – Friar have you seen Romeo?
Romeo – Nooooooooo, Mercutio! Aghhh… Tybalt, I’m really upset, I
mean REALLY upset. (Friar points to the ground)
Benvolio – Romeo, remember what you said about not fighting Nurse – Oh, yeah, pretty obvious and a bit pathetic. Hey lover boy,
Juliet is pretty upset.
Tybalt – Oh yeah!
Romeo – Nooooooo… (Romeo tries to stab himself but fails miserably,
Romeo – Yeah! Nurse takes the sword away)
(Romeo and Tybalt fight, Tybalt is killed) Friar Lawrence – Why don’t you go see Juliet and then leave town.
Benvolio – Romeo, away, be gone. Romeo – (Excited) Cool
(Romeo exits, Enter Prince, Lord and Lady Capulet and Lord and Lady (All Exit)
Montague)
(Narrators Enter)
Prince – What in the world is happening here? Why are there dead
bodies on the ground all over MY streets? Huh? 1 - Woah! Lots of things seem to have happened really fast!
Benvolio – Well Tybalt killed Mercutio, then Romeo killed Tybalt 2 - You’re telling me, it’s all gone a little bit crazy!
Prince – Fine then Romeo is banished from Verona, and clean up this 3 - I wonder if it’s always like this in Verona?
mess!
4 - As long as the Montague’s and the Capulets keep fighting I guess it
(All Exit, Benvolio drags bodies off stage) will be
1 - But Friar Lawrence was hoping that the wedding between Romeo Juliet – Oh Romeo
and Juliet would stop all of that
Romeo – Oh Juliet, It’s almost morning, and I must leave
4 - That’s the problem with secret weddings, no-one knows they have
happened, so how would Tybalt know that his cousin has married Romeo Juliet – Do you have to?
1 - That’s true and that’s why Romeo couldn’t tell Mercutio the reason Romeo – I must be gone and live or stay and die. And I really prefer
he didn’t want to fight, because he was trying to keep the marriage a secret the going and living thing
4 - Exactly! He didn’t want to fight Tybalt, but when he killed his best (Nurse Enters)
friend like that he just got angry and took revenge Nurse – Whoa dude, you’re still here, you better leave soon, and when
1 - So now Romeo is going to have to leave Verona before The Prince I say “soon” I mean NOW! (Nurse shoves out Romeo)
finds him because he will be killed too for what he has done (Romeo exits, Lady and Lord Capulet enter)
2 - But what about Juliet? Lady Capulet – Oh, by the way Juliet, you’re dad says you have to
4 - Well he’s going to have to leave her behind marry Paris
3 - I know its proper emo isn’t it Lord Capulet – What! You will do what I say
4 - I doubt it, the feud has been going on for centuries, the families (All exit but Juliet)
really hate each other Juliet – I need to talk with Friar Lawrence
2 - So what happens now? (Friar Lawrence enters)
4 - Well Romeo has gone to find Juliet so he can say goodbye Friar Lawrence – You called?
3 - (Getting upset) I don’t know if I can watch this, it’s just too sad! Juliet – I want to stay with Romeo, what can I do?
(Narrators Exit) Friar Lawrence – No Problem, Just take this herbal cocktail. You will
look like you are dead, and when they take you to the morgue, your Romeo will
be there waiting. (Calling offstage) Friar John!
Act 4 Scene 1
(Friar John Enters)
Friar Lawrence – You don’t know what the message is yet Juliet – to drink or not to drink, that is the question. Well bottoms up
(Juliet drinks the potion and passes out)
Friar John – Oh, Ok well, what is the message?
(Nurse enters)
Friar Lawrence – Tell Romeo to meet Juliet at the Tomb tomorrow
evening Nurse – Rise and shine my dear. Juliet wake up. JULIET. NOOOOOO
Friar John – OK (Lady and Lord Capulet, Friar Lawrence and Paris enter)
(Friar Lawrence Exits) Friar Lawrence – (To himself) Wow that was quick
Once upon a time, 3 acts 2 scenes ago Friar Lawrence – (Faking a cough) I said, I feel sick. Now we need to
I was in your sights, and you got me alone take her to the tomb
You found me, you found me, at the parrrrttttty, te-e-e-e
I guess you showed you care and I guess I liked that (They pick up Juliet and carry her offstage, all exit)
And then we fell hard, no one took a step back
(Narrators Enter)
You found me, you found me, then we got married me, e-e-e-e
And now it's all gone, I’ve heard what the prince said 1 - O M G Juliet is dead!
And I realise you've been banished
'Cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in 4 - No she isn’t
It's plain to see you
Take this potion and I'll sleep till I wake again. 2 - She is! Look they are taking her away to a tomb, she’s dead
Then I'll see you then, oh
I knew you were trouble when you walked in 4 - No she isn’t
So shame on me now
1 - She is, she just drank the poison and now she’s dead on the floor
I'll take this potion and sleep till I wake again.
(big cry)
I'll be I'm lying on the cold hard ground
4 - You don’t listen do you
4 - It’s all a cunning plan! Romeo – (Very happy) Balthasar my servant, the day is beautiful! How
are you today?
1 - Really?
Balthasar – Hmm, OK.
4 - Yeah the poison that Friar Lawrence gave Juliet isn’t really a poison,
it’s a special potion that just makes it seem like she’s dead but she’s actually in a Romeo – Just OK? But the day is beautiful
very, very deep sleep
Balthasar – Well sir, ummmm, I have some bad news, really bad news.
1 - So she’s not dead? (Getting happier)
Romeo – Really, No good news?
4 - No, but everyone thinks she is, so Friar John has gone to tell Romeo
to got to Juliet’s tomb, which is where they will put her because they thinks Balthasar – Nope
she’s dead, then when she wakes up from her deep sleep Romeo and her can Romeo – Not even just a little?
sneak away and go off and be happy together.
Balthasar – Nope, nada, and no.
3 - That’s really clever
Romeo – What’s the bad news?
2 - I know right!
Balthasar – Juliet is dead.
4 - But it’s really important to keep it a secret because everyone needs
to believe that she’s dead for the plan to work Romeo – Nooooo… I am going to get some poison and kill myself
tonight in her tomb
2 - Well let’s hope that Friar John gets to Romeo first then because if
he speaks to anyone else they might tell him that Juliet is dead, even though she (All Exit)
isn’t!
Friar Lawrence – Hello Friar John, were you able to deliver the letter
to Romeo?
Friar John – Well I tried, but it just didn’t happen, so I got a burger and
fries instead, want one?
Act 5 Scene 1
Friar Lawrence - What! That’s not good. Bad, very bad. Poor Juliet, Paris – My dear Romeo Montague, what are you doing here,
closed in a dead man’s tomb. I have to go and save them. disturbing a Capulet? I am putting you under arrest!
(All Exit) Romeo – This is a bad time Paris. Tempt not a desperate man
1 - Ooooh Nooooooo (like Romeo says it) Friar John didn’t give Romeo Romeo – O Juliet, how I love you so. Well here’s to you! (Drinks
the message poison) hmmmm, tastes like coke! Thus with a kiss I die (Romeo dies)
2 - Suddenly the plan has gone really, really wrong! (Enter Friar Lawrence)
3 - Romeo thinks that Juliet is dead for real Friar Lawrence – Oh shoot I am too late
1 - Worse than that he’s taken with him some poison to drink Juliet – Oh comfortable Friar, where is my lord?
4 - Real poison this time, not the fake stuff that Friar Lawrence makes Friar Lawrence – Yeah, well there was a slight problem with the plan
(points at the ground)
1 - Do you think he will get there in time to rescue them?
Juliet – Noooooooo!
2 - I don’t know, I hope so
Friar Lawrence – I hear people coming, let’s go.
4 - Well look, here comes Romeo now
(Friar Lawrence Exits)
1 - He looks soooo sad
Juliet – What’s here? Poison I see hath been his timeless end.
2 - This is sad, it’s a tragedy…………. Bummer, he left none for me (Noise outside) Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger
(All Exit) (Romeo hands dagger to Juliet)
Juliet – Thank you, Oh happy dagger, this is thy sheath; there rest, and
Act 5 Scene 3 let me die.
(Juliet is lying dead on the ground, enter Romeo) (Enter Prince, Lord Capulet, Lord Montague and Friar Lawrence)
Romeo – I will enter her tomb and kill myself next to my dear love Prince – What misadventure is so early up? Why are there more dead
Juliet bodies on MY street’s?!
Lord Capulet and Lord Montague – What!!! 1 – Good cause I didn’t want to listen to you crying all the way home!
Friar Lawrence – Anyway, they got married, Juliet faked dying, Romeo 2 – Don’t be mean!
didn’t know; that was the one thing that went wrong, and killed himself over her 3 – I haven’t seen any Shakespeare before but I enjoyed that, it was
loss; she found out and killed herself over the loss of him. And now we stand fun
here over dead bodies.
4 – So now the play has finished its traditional for all of the actors to
Prince – (To the Lords) I want you to see what your quarrelling has perform a dance called a ‘Bergomask Dance’
accomplished, your two children are dead
1 – Do we have to join in?
Lord Capulet – Wow, I was wrong to act this way the entire time.
4 – Well we have been part of the play and all the actors have to take
Lord Montague – Me too. Let’s be friends (they Hug) part
Song ‘You Got a Friend in Me’ Jayden Rodrigues & Natasha Vella 2- I’m a bit scared, I don’t do dance!
(All exit) 4 – You will be fine, plus it’s meant to be fun, come on everyone let’s
(Narrators Enter) give all the performers a big round of applause.
4 - Yeah
