UNIT 12: AT THE CAFÉ
Lesson 1: Part 1, 2 I/ Objectives: 1.Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to : - Correctly pronounce the name of letter A/ a and the sound /a/ in isolation. - Say correctly the words :cake, grapes, table 2. Competencies: 2.1.Generic competencies: - Communication and cooperation competence: read and complete the sentences, work in pairs/groups. - Problem-solving competence: observing, collecting and analyzing information - Autonomy and self-learning: remembering, recalling and guessing words. - Problem –solving and creativity: giving ideas, changing information, giving comments, critical thinking. 2.2. Language competence: - Sound /a/ - Vocabulary: cake, grapes, table - Skills: Integrated skills (speaking and listening) 3. Attitude / Qualities: Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love learning English II/ Teaching aids: 1.Teacher: Pictures, words cards, flashcards, slapper things, recording, computer, projector. 2.Students: Tieng Anh 2 students’ books, pens, pencils, notebooks. III/ Procedure: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm- up: 3’ Sing a song: Hello song *Aims: to revise how to say hello to their friends and to do some basic exercises. *Teaching techniques - Singing, dancing in class - Using audio, video about “Hello song” *Procedure: - SS follows the - Ss introduces some actions in the “Hello song” instruction - Remind ss do not shout through the song. -SS open their book. - Let ss listen, sing and dance together 2. New lesson: Activity 1. 1. Listen and repeat: 12’ *Aims: to correctly pronounce the name of letter A/ a and the sound / a/ both in isolation and in the words cake, grapes, table *Context: The picture shows a café.There are cake, grapes and table *Teaching techniques - Techniques in teaching listening and speaking, individual, pairworks, ask and answer… - Using flashcards, recording, pictures… *Procedure: -Look at the picture and - Have ss look at the picture and ask “Where are answer: they?”- lead to the lessson - Tell ss to look at the picture, point to the grapes - At the cafe and answer what are they? - Ss answer “the grapes” - Play the audio, listen and check the answer. Develop their reflexion. *Context: The letter A and three words: grapes, cake and table are sticked on the board. * Teaching techniques: - Techiques in teaching listening, speaking and - Ss read this letter and reading. sound - Using flashcards, slapper things, pictures,… - Ss read the words * Procedure: - Show the letter on the board first, ask ss to read - Ss follows the this letter and the sound instruction - Give instruction for Ss, call each team one student to come and play. Play game: Pass the magic boxes 6’ *Aims: to review all the words in the lesson, let them practice speaking these words correctly *Context: Using some pictures about the food and drink or things can have at the cafe to say these words correctly *Teaching techniques - Techniques in teaching listening and speaking - Follow the instruction - Using flashcards, pictures, boxes, music… *Procedure: - Give instruction for Ss: every turn will have a magic box, when music is on, Ss will pass the box until music stops. - Play game following - Teacher shows a picture, if the Ss having the box the instructions. answers rightly, the team will get the points on this box. - Count with Teacher - If not, this box will be passed for the next turn. - Teacher checks the answers, give the points. - The team having the higher points will wins. *Outcome: Ss can correctly spell target words. 3. Consolidation :1’ *Aims: to consolidate and wrap up the content of -Ss listen. the lesson. - T tells ss about the main content of the lesson. - T tells ss about the educational Aimss of the lessons. 4. Homelink .1’ - Practice more at home. - Prepare for the next lesson.
