ONCE YOU’VE CAST ON THE CORRECT

AMOUNT OF STITCHES (DETERMINED BY
YOUR PATTERN YOU CAN START KNITTING.
IT’S A SIMILAR METHOD TO CASTING ON BUT
INSTEAD OF PLACING THE STITCH ON THE
LEFT HAND NEEDLE YOU WILL KEEP IT ON
THE RIGHT, YOU’LL REPEAT THIS UNTIL
YOU’VE MOVED ALL THE STITCHES OVER,
THEN YOU’LL SWAP THE NEEDLES OVER AND
DO IT AGAIN. MY TOP TIP WITH BIG KNITTING
IS TO ALWAYS KEEP IT LOOSE. SO JUST
WATCH YOUR TENSION AND TRY NOT TO
PULL THE YARN TIGHT...

SUPER CHUNKY

BY LAUREN ASTON DESIGNS

SO MUCH COSINESS IN ONE
CARDIGAN! THIS ANKLE
LENGTH CARDI CAN TAKE
YOU THROUGH THE SEASONS
IN COSY COMFORT &
EFFORTLESS STYLE. THE
HARDEST PART IS CHOOSING
A COLOUR OR TO MAKE
IT IN.

IT INCLUDES A LOVELY MIX

OF SIMPLE STOCKINETTE
STITCH AND TEXTURED RIB.

THE PATTERN COMES IN

SIZES S-XL AND FITS UK
SIZES - DUE TO ITS
COSY, SLOUCHY STYLE.

SHOWN IN MUSTARD IN MEDIUM

& CINNAMON IN EXTRA LARGE

SIMPLE ENOUGH FOR A

BEGINNER, THIS PATTERN
MAINLY USES BASIC KNIT
AND PURL STITCHES WITH
A SMALL AMOUNT OF
SHAPING K TOG AND A
BIT OF MATTRESS STITCH
TO PUT IT TOGETHER.
THERE’S PLENTY OF HELP,
HOW TO’S AND VIDEOS ON
THE WEBSITE IF YOU’D
LIKE ANY. THE WEBSITE
ADDRESS IS AT THE
BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

OUR TOP TIP WITH THIS

CARDIGAN IS TO MAKE IT
A BIT SHORTER THAN YOU
THINK YOU WANT IT AS
TIME AND GRAVITY WILL
PLAY THEIR PARTS! AND
YOU DON’T NEED IT TO BE
DUSTING THE FLOOR AS
YOU WALK!

CARDIGAN TOGETHER IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

BACK TOGETHER END TO END ENSURING THE FRONT PIECES ARE ON THE
CORRECT SIDES, AS PER PATTERN SO THAT THE RIBBED EDGES SIT CENTRE
FRONT -MATTRESS STITCH THE FRONTS AND BACK TOGETHER AT THE SHOUL-
DERS, THE RIB FROM THE EDGE OF THE FRONTS SHOULD JOIN INTO THE RIB AT
THE MIDDLE OF THE BACK.
-LAY THE CARDIGAN DOWN FLAT, RIGHT SIDE FACING UP, SO THAT THE FRONT
AND BACK ARE BOTH OPEN AND JOINED AT THE SHOULDERS
-LAY THE SLEEVES IN PLACE,MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE LAID FLAT OPEN WITH
THE CENTRE OF THE SLEEVE MATCHING UP WITH THE SHOULDER SEAM.
MATTRESS STITCH THE SLEEVES TO THE FRONT AND BACK OF THE CARDIGAN IN
ONE GO.

ATTACHED, THE SIDE SEAMS NEED TO BE STITCHED TOGETHER.
