STREET FOCUS
The Origin of Vastu shastra is difficult to be traced as it is lost in antiq-
uity. The ancient Indian sages have divided the cosmic calendar into into 4
broad stages, namely Kritha, Thretha, Dwapara, and Kaliyug. Man came on
the scene perhaps in Threthayug and the origin of Vastu shastra is traced to
this period only. During this period of development communication being
what they were resulted this knowledge getting restricted to ruling and elite
class of this society only. Thus depriving the large society benefits of this
science. In course of time, science, things have changed, democracy has
replaced the autocratic Government and more than any thing else individual
freedom has become the supreme possession of man. Further the present
information explosion has had the beneficial efforts of making the science
available to one and all.
Vastu Shastra appears to be an obstruct science until we know actu-
ally. For practical application confirm the knowledge. The study of Vastu
shastra starts with the knowledge of the basic five elements of creation,
Space, Sun, Air, Water and Earth.
If a plot or the construction there on is in conformity with the aspects
of this five elements, that is Vastu shastra science, the residents of the plot
or the construction have an opportunity to live in conformity of the basic five
elements and thus prosper. If, however, such is not the case, progress in
life of the residents is rather difficult.
In fact it is rather difficult to precisely define the term Vastu shastra. In
my opinion Vastu shastra means a construction method compatible with
progress and happy prosecution applied or a construction that bestows peace
of mind (to the residents).
Material possession alone or not a substitute to the mental happiness
for non is greater than one enjoying bliss. We are acutely aware the best of
earthly possession alone cannot give us bliss for at best they can give you a
momentary pleasure. How ever when the life goes on in a positive manner it
will lead to a blissful state of mind. Basically Vastu shastra ensues the pros-
pects of prosecuting a happy and prosperous way of life as an example if a
person desires to become an influential member of the society (may be a
doctor, advocate, engineer or influential political leader or the like) and makes
appropriate efforts in chosen field if his residence is Vastu shastra com-
plaint, there are far greater chances of success.
If a business man invests a large sum in his enterprise, and his resi-
dence is Vastu shastra complaint, it helps him in preventing losses and pro-
moting progress in his venture.

A Vastu complaint home bestows on his residence and exalted life

accompanied by name and fame in society and hence to mental happiness.
He does not mean, however, that the residence will automatically become
leaders of society etc without their own efforts in the chosen direction.
This is an obstruct science drawn from the science of Meta physics. I
would urge people to recall what Einstein has said about Meta physics. Quote:
“what is Meta physics today is physics tomorrow, in fact there is very thin
difference between these two”. Some people how ever deny the science of
Vastu shastra. For them I have a simple solution when you are building a
house kindly do build the same as per Vastu shastra science, this does not
cost extra and there is no loss to you either. On the other hand it would (nay-
may) have beneficial efforts.
IS VASTU A PREJUDICE
India, in deed the whole world is home to several prejudices and blind
believes which we follow knowingly or unknowingly, for example: abundant
journey if a cat crosses your way. Abundant any situation where you are 13th
in serial order. Or do not stop any work when some on sneezes etc and the
worst of all is considering as a bad omen if a widow is comes opposite you.
Else where in the world cat is a pet animal with which one place in the
home. Some even think that if one faces a cat while on an enterprise it is
good omen in deed.
Actually such prejudices (or blind faiths) what ever they be or region
specific, or society specific and not necessarily universal. I would even go
to the extent of saying that the blind faith or prejudices or rather foolishness.
Any faith or otherwise not founded on scientific principles is prejudice only.
Strong instances or wrongly publicized leading to preducis practices. Ab-
sence of education and literacy is a fertile ground for the spread of this
disease. How ever some practices such as getting up from sleep from the
right side is insisted upon based on more scientific principles than blind
faith, even though we blindly follow them. If in deed when the same is scien-
tific is best to adopt them even when we don’t know the complete science
behind it. Rising from the left side puts extra pressure on the heart which is
not a healthy practice. When ignorance is rampant, such methods as to
compel them to follow or employed and this example is one such. In the
bygone days when resources were meager and facilities were inadequate,
such scientific practices which are easy to adopt were in vogue and there
became blind faiths as they were not explained in adequate terms. In the
yester years such methods were perhaps possible, and not in a now a days.
Example, why people urge you to stop work when you sneeze ? , in the
bygone days there were not adequate medical facilities, when some one

sneezes, perhaps, he as cot cold and needs medication, treatment, or rest,

for which they need to abandon job on hand. This was enforced by blind
faith. (Which was easy then), with general health including and far better
medical facilities at our disposal this practice is no more relevant today. This
is the way to treat all the prejudices. There is no apparent reason why one
should abandon ones journey, if a cat crosses the way. If, however, it is
proved statically correct, we may as well adopt the same.
Yet another blind belief is that on any enterprise 3 people should not
travel together. They should be even only. How this has come about no
body knows. Perhaps more than two is to expensive and perhaps in an odd
case or two when three people undertook a journey the enterprise was not
successful, and the prejudice has development there by. Hindus believe in
the trinity of Gods. When that is so does it mean that three are combine the
task cannot be done? a rather strange thing. If any phenomenon cannot
stand the scrutiny of scientific temple, it cannot be explained satisfactorily to
one and all and it becomes to difficult to follow.
Assume for argument sake that vastu shastra is a prejudice. If a ma-
jority of people feel it a blind faith no body would adopt it same, however
now a days majority of large construction are being contemplated only after
due consultations with Is Vastu scholars. It’s a tragedy that the government
of the day does not recognize the Vastu shastra and even though majority of
officials do consult vastu scholars for their private accommodation and when
it comes to public utility construction they are forced to wash off their hands.
Perhaps it is for this reason that many of the government departments
are best when avoided as the general public are not able get through jus-
tice. Lac of values in life and corruption are rampant. Many of the officials
would be filling their coffers thus causing this repute to themselves and to
the government as well. In my own experience some of the senior officers
did use of my services and when I suggested that I am available for the
same services to their office also their grave reply was we stay in this office
only in a short while, why bother about them, such is the tragedy.
When I observe the Vastu situation of our own country I see, indebt-
edness is endemic. Political scenario is deteriorating. Leaders will have to
carry a huge burden of ill fame. Culture will become causality. Disturbances
in the name of religion multiply. There is a huge possibility of people loosing
faith in leadership. Natural disasters will be aplenty. Floods and draughts will
be predominant, financially when some stability is achieved, the negative
forces pushing economy down hill show up. I leave it to you to evaluate.
If Vastu science has not acquitted itself how come many are following
the same? , several private enterprises has prosper by observing the vastu
principles, atleast I have not come across any one who has been a loser by

following the vastu principles.
CHAPER-II
HOW TO FIND DIRECTIONS
We all understand that there are only four directions, east, west, north
and south, in fact this partially correct. There are actually 10 directions. These
are
1. East
2. Southeast
3. South
4. Southwest
5. West
6. Northwest
7. North
8. Northeast
These are 8 principle directions, in addition earth and sky are the other
two directions making it 10 directions.
Finding the directions is comparatively easy. When you stand facing
the early morning raising sun you are facing east. Your back is west (oppo-
site to east), the left hand side is north and right hand side is south. A still
easier method will be to place a magnet which shows always north and
consequently all other directions as these are inter related.
I am giving out as much minutely as possible so that persons unfamil-
iar to with directions may understand these basic principles.
The corner of north and east directions is northeast
The corner of south and east direction is southeast
The corner of south and west direction is southwest
The corner of north and west direction is northwest.
Each of these directions are influenced by one planet. However there
are only 8 directions and 9 planets, then planet excluded is Ketu. This planet
occupies northeast corner along with Jupiter (Guru), this is the reason urg-
ing the extension of northeast.

MYTH ABOUT VASTU SHASTRA AND VASTU PURUSH

In the early period of creation a demon by name andhakasur was ha-
rassing all creation. Lord Shiva fought with him during which time a drop of
Lord Shiva’s perspiration fell on earth and a huge figure came our of the
same threatening to occupy heaven and earth, seem which even Devas
(deities) got frighten and pleaded with the creator Brahma, Brahma sug-
gested method of throwing this creature face on words following which all
Devas united and throw him down, this creature fell on earth with

2. Feet on southwest side
3. Both the hands on the northwest and southeast side and face down-
wards
All the Devas sat on the creature such that he may not rise.
In so doing the creature brightened by such galaxy of Devas is chris-
tened by the creator Brahma as Vastu Purush.
Vastu Purush myth in deed has been brightened by the galaxy of such
deities as Shiva, Indra, Agni, Vaayu, etc. … Yet these were heavy weights on
him, unable to bare, he pray the creator God Brahma to deliver him from the
agony of carrying al such deities together for no fault of his. Pleased with the
prayer the creator Brahma bestowed a boon on the vastu Purush, thus quote”
all creatures need dwelling units, while constructing houses and on house
warming functions while building /constructing villages, towns, forts, even
temples, water bodies, parks etc, people shall worship you, such people
who define, this injunction shall suffer poverty, obstructions in every activity
of their life untold miseries which may leading to eventual death even. Be-
sides all the Devas sitting on you and all the eight sides shall perform their
allotted tasks happily and people shall thus be happy in life too”.
In accordance with the above principle deities residing are :-
1. Northeast side Eshwar or Esa
2. East side Adithya or Sun
3. Southeast side Agni or God of fire
4. South side Yama or God of Death
5. Southwest side Niruthi or Mighty Demon
Construction of any enterprise may be house, ware house, public util-
ity building or any commercial property etc, be such as to respect the activi-
ties of these deities, there shall be conformity of human activities with those

of the presiding deities and so one gets and unseen help in speedy execu-
tion of the same leading to happy life. Such is Vastu lore.
Activities on the eight directions of a construction to be in conformity
with the activities of presiding deities.
1. In the NE side prayer, worship, and such holy activities.
2. East side activities pleasing to sun God who is the lord of Zodiac head
of the family’s work.
3. In the south east activities relating to utilization of fire, energy, etc.
such as cooking, boilers, electric switch boards etc.
4. In the south side presided by Yama, God of Death… sleeping with
head towards south, having a raised platform, putting heavy articles
etc of the enterprise on this side in the construction etc.
5. Southwest side armory and such equipment which give security to the
construction or enterprise.
6. West side having the science of prosperity such as Granary (not un-
derground), Cattle shed, parking area for the vehicles etc.
7. Northwest side science of freedom.
8. North side sign of prosperity, keeping low level, storing hidden wealth
appropriately, such as jewellry, expensive cloths, hard cash etc.
These activities, placement etc are pleasing to the presiding deities in

the respective directions and hence they shower their blessings on the resi-
dence.
House constructions are of several types such as those useful to hu-
mans animals, birds, place of worship, public utility building etc. Vastu shastra
recognizes four broad divisions in these:
1. Ordinary human dwelling units including multi storey buildings and apart-
ments.
2. Government/ administrative utility buildings such as offices, hospitals,
schools, and ware houses, etc.
3. Place of worship
4. Constructions of public utility such as water bodies and then parks etc
6. West side Varun or God of Water
7. Northwest side Vaayu God of Air
8. North side Kuber God of Wealth

As much as sunrays effect every body, Vastu shastra principles are
also cause their influence on every one without distinction - such as rich or
poor, Indian or American, do gooders or evil doers, children or adults, males
or females irrespective of caste and community. They influence all equal
measure. Since this is an establish and statistically proven science. Vastu
principles stick to the construction in the same manner as shadow to the
man. However the effects of vastu are seen some times, immediately or
some other times later. This depends on the terrain and vastu influence of
neighborhood. (We should deal this subject later). Vastu principles have no
discrimination as they do not posses mind. This is invisible as much as air
ease. The role of vastu can best be compared to that of doctor to a patient
who cures the ailments affecting the patients. Vastu principles help prevent
afflicting of ailments to the construction.
THE FIVE BASIC ELEMENTS AND THEIR EXPLANATION

The basic five elements, with which the whole universe is created are
Space, Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
Space: Space is the represent element for all creation. Every creation
within this element alone. All the planets Gods and Goddesses, the several
stars and their constellations are contained in it.
Fire: Fire element embraces Sun, Fire, brilliance, brightness and the like.
Sustenance of life is due to Sun alone, there is no life without Sun, and no
life either it is said fire is messenger of God, Hindus solemnize every activ-
ity in front of fire. Good does happen with Fire and bad too depending upon
how we use the same. We use fire to warm us up in winter increasing the fire
for greater warm,. But never be so mad as to sit on it. In house construction
southeast portion of the house is allotted for the Fire element. Fire in south-
east side of the house results in good digestion leading to good health, if
southeast area is defective in nature, it affects the female folk, second child
of the family etc. if the lady of the house does not enjoy sound health, the
whole family suffers resulting in loss of peace and happiness. What ever be
the external problems one faces atleast at home they should be peace and
harmony. And what cant be achieved if there be mental happiness?.. People
lacking mental happiness often commit blunders even in elementary works.
This is the phenomenon we see in every day life.
Air: There is no life without air, even fish in deep ocean breath air, if this
element is harnessed, it will be an unasked boon to the residents. Air com-
ing from northeast side through door or window etc is Benevolent, place-

ment of doors and windows in north and east side also is hugely beneficial.
Water : Water is an important element in the sustenance of life of whether
man animal or vegetation, such water availability in the house should be at
an appropriate position to give out its best. Such place in the house is north-
east side. Water availability in other sides such as east and north or also
acceptable. Harnessing of water in other directions such as west or south or
southwest is harmful.
Earth: Element earth is supposed to have been formed over 4 billion years
ago. The third planet round to the Sun is Earth. Its huge magnetic mass
having north and south poles with the help of a magnet (available every
where), we can clearly locate these north and south directions and hence all
other directions. When a magnet is suspended or held freely one pole of
the magnet clearly always shows the north and other pole south.
All Vastu science is using land (earth) in a proper manner, it is for this
reason there is no vastu for things in motion such as vehicles, trains, Aero
planes, ships etc. Which means that a bus cannot be built on Vastu prin-
ciples. All for that matter any moving object (moving relating to earth).
I remember a rather funny incidence, some big wig from Bidar ( a
district in Karnataka) telephoned me to recommend him suitable vastu ad-
vises for seats, tops etc for a bus body building. I declined the same on
which, he became angry, he could not seen elementary logic. If a bus is
heading towards say north after few moments it may be heading towards
south or any other directions. For such a thing where is vastu, explaining this
I declined. On which he became angry, a fortnight later he again telephone
and then said a Vastu scholar in deed advised him on this same matter. At
this point I remember a childhood story, a man saw a crane standing on one
leg near a lake and thus proclaimed that in deed, cranes have only one leg,
such people do exists now also and there are suitable vastu scholars to
cater to them also. This is a wholesale decoity. Pray the readers are aware
of this and save them selves and the vastu science and consult only honest
and reliable vastu scholars.
NEIGHBOUR HOOD VASTU

In Vastu shastra – neighbourhood Vastu plays an important role, there
are cases where even when the house is built on sound vastu principles
ignoring the neighbourhood expected results are not obtained, the effect of
neighbourhood vastu can be accessed only by a competent vastu scholar.
Neighbourhood can be defined as that area with its own construction
or otherwise surrounding one’s own area, this neighbourhood influences
our premises as well, this is neighbourhood vastu, in other words every

peace of area has its own vastu influence and can be seen influencing ad-
joining property etc. With bad neighbourhood vastu, if one’s own house is
not vastu compliant a catastrophe that should happen in future may even
occur immediately causing greater damages, if however if bad
neighbourhood vastu and one’s own construction is vastu compliant such
bad events may not occur so soon, perhaps they may occur later. Further it
may even turn the events positive if one’s own house and the construction
there off is totally vastu compliant.
Let us first discuss the basic five elements. The amalgam of all this
elements in appropriate proportion is vastu and neighbourhood vastu is about
this only. There is no vastu nor neighbourhood vastu in the absence of such
amalgam. An experience vastu consultant would have adequate knowledge
to predict the life of the inmates even on studying the vastu of the building
and the neighbourhood. If both the neighbourhood and one’s own building
are in complete compliance of vastu principles, the results are immensely
favourable, generally people greatly benefit when they consult such a vastu
scholar. A competent vastu consultant is one who studies all aspects in-
cluding the neighbourhood and then only makes his comments. It is for this
reason that study of vastu is best conducted when there is sun light. In the
absence of which it is difficult to evaluate the incluence of neighbourhood
on one’s own premises.
I shall now relate an instance in this regard, on insistence of a friend of
mine I studied one house in Bhopal some time ago. Not much vastu compli-
ance was seen in the house construction yet I saw huge prosperity in the
house, I was pestered to study their house in the evening itself. The house
has western main entrance, I could not study the neighbourhood and do
justice to my job, I was wondering all through the night - in spite of lopsided
vastu in the house as to how the residents were prospering so well. Early
next morning I wanted to visit the same premises again and insisted on my
friend to take me there, I did not tell the friend any thing else, mentally I was
thinking the northeast area of the house should be wonderfully disposed.
Accordingly I went to the back of the house as also up the roof. Lo ! The
house was benefiting from a northeast street focus, which could be seen
only during the day time. Hence the regulation not to study vastu after the
sun set.

HOW FATE PLAYS ITS ROLE

I studied a house some time ago to be precise on first of December
2005, the house had Northwest Street thrust. The resident was living in the
house since two years. After studying the house fully, I recommended him
to change the house immediately, if possible even on the same day. He was
stunned, it is believed some vastu consultant has stated that house was fully
vastu compliant and thus was surprised hearing me say otherwise. As the
house was rented one the land lord would not agree for any changes. Not
withstanding this I made my firm recommendation and left the premises, the
resident was fuming on my statement. On 17th December of same year an
incidence happen, the elder brother of the above person (whose house
had southeast street thrust) as also southwest defect was murdered, as ill
luck would have it the case fell on the younger brother having northwest
street thrust whose house I visited. He had to undergo jail term for 4 months
incur huge losses in his enterprise, no doubt this has enhance my status but
alas ! at what cost.
We cannot alter fate. Most of us apparently are mere dolls in the games
played by fate. It always treis to toss us in its games. We should do our
best carefully to overcome such things. Or else we will be easy victims to its
dictates. Elder seers and saints often tell about future in a guarded manner,
at that time we should carefully observe their nuances to draw inspiration
and comply with their pronouncements. Some times rather literally even.
For they cannot be faulted. There may, how ever, be faulty hearing by us. I
remember an instance, one of my acquaintances once met one such saint
in Mysore and confessed that his own uncle (younger brother of his own
father) developed enmity towards him and started harassing. At the time
when he met the saint his marriage was being fixed and was wondering how
the same will be accomplished. The saint said “tie three knots the naraka will
go away”. The seer did not say any thing else and the correct interpretation
of what he said was eluding. In course of time, my acquaintance got married
and was going to the brides place to celebrate the Diwali ; when he got the
news that his bitter uncle died in an accident, only then he could understand
the exact meaning of what the saint has stated.
Fate is uni directional. It completes its part of the game rather intelli-
gently. It is understood that a computer can beat a man in a game of chess,
when a computer, created by a man, can be so powerful, what can be said
of fate? Its moments are unknown, its strategy is mystery, whom it employs
in its Endeavour and when and how, and where it strikes is a black box to us.
To face such a thing as fate – appropriate strategies are necessity, the
first and foremost is faith in almighty and next is equip one self with the aid

of vastu shastra while constructing the building. I am just narrating what I

know off. We may be able to observe all vastu principles in our own con-
struction. And in deed its possible however we can do nothing about the
neighbourhood and its effects on us, that is what NEIGHBOURHOOD
VASTU otherwise FATE. This is what we should face.
I discuss this topic with several scholoarly people and came to the
conclusion that fate does its duty even when there are obstacles in its work,
we wonder how it executes it plans.
I will narrate an instance. There was one person by Nagabushan (name
changed), his bad days as per his own admission are started, yet he pros-
pered in business and earned very good profits, in bad days he ought to
have become over burden with debts and face humiliations. He was native
of Bangalore having heard of vastu shastra he invited a noted vastu consult-
ant, got his site vetted by him and built his residence as per his advice. All
was well with him, now fate has got a responsibility namely he should be
indebted and incur the wrath of the society. With the house being perfectly
vastu compliant, fate could do nothing from inside, even a small defiance of
the vastu principles would have been adequate for fate to have its way. As
per his horoscope his evil days are already started in June, even till October
every thing was fine with him, this – because of vastu strength of his resi-
dence, then fate changed its strategy towards south of his house, the south-
ern neighbour demolished his old house to build a new one. However there
was delayed in his new construction, this became weapon of fate to whip
Nagabushan, his business running successfully till then, suddenly started
limping. He had to suffer huge losses. During this time one of his employ-
ees emptied his coffers and ran away. And all his assets were lost. His wife
became bed ridden, compelling him to spend huge sum for her recovery,
atlast he got caught indebtedness. Next followed humiliation, the duty allot-
ted to fate was completed.
Neighbourhood vastu is an important weapon in the armory of fate.
Yet vastu is the only weapon that we can face fate with. Had Nagabushan
built an appropriate compound wall to his residence, he might not have in-
vited such serious consequences.
A house with appropriate street focus is a rarity, if however one gets
such a premises it’s a sign of on coming prosperity, if on the other hand we
acquired a house with inappropriate street thrust, we may conclude that bad

III EFFECTS OF VASTU

Some of the ill effects of vastu are – indebtedness, unable to repay

amoung couples, children being not good at studies, children not coming in
life, having no children at all, premature death of children, self or members
of the family becoming handicapped or invalid, ill health in the family, busi-
ness or job not running as expected, lac of return on investment, problems
with partners, incurable or severe ailments (cancer, aids, paralysis, heart
ailments, anemia etc), feeling always afraid of some thing or other, insecure
life, bad reputation, insolvency, abdicting family life and becoming ascetic,
mental illness, struglling for work which cannot be accomplished any way,
going agaist law of the land, doing wrong acts and getting caught, adultery,
extremely passionate about extra marital affairs, always slighting the life part-
ner, anger, hatred, members of the family wishing bad to each other, com-
mitting decoity, murders, are getting killed etc, thieving and deceit, fire haz-
ards, sudden accidents, skin deseaces, unemployement, unable to travel
abroad inspite of favourable situations.
In matters relating to female childrens – love affairs, eloping, landing
in parental homes even after marriage and thus becoming a liability to them,
harassment of parents (on insistence from the in laws family etc). Such of
these things can suitably mitigated by applying vastu principles.

STREET THRUST OR STREET FOCUS
Among several recent researches street focus or street thrust and its
effects is prominent. In the earlier period there does not appear that street
thrusts was a prominent aspect of vastu shastra. However modern scholars
have done extensive research on the same and unearthed some facts un-
known till now.
If one wants to know the good or bad effects of the street thrusts such
houses having street thrust will have to be identified and examine the exact
state of residence. One has to study if the residents over the years how
prosper or other wise and then draw inferences. One cannot draw any con-
clusions based on superficial observations alone. Lets take an example of
north east street focus, as per vastu such street focus is generally greatly
beneficial to the occupants. Yet this may not be always so. How is it only
some are prospering and some others not so? And on other hand suffering
? How is it that some or caught in unexplainable entanglements ? Some
utterly poor becoming very rich beyond imagination and some not so? What
could be the reason for such observable variations in the end. Is it that one’s
life is guidied by horoscope or by the vastu of the house. There are all
instances where people have progressed to an exaulted state and all of
sudden lost every thing also ! Is it fate should one be a victim of fate alone ?
Does one has to forget ? The idea of progress , there should in my opinion,
in deed be a remedy for this malady.
If one has a headache mere thinking about it is not a solution, instead
a tablet would do the trick, how ever it is easier said than done in respect of
the problems one faces in life, effort of mankind is always to find solutions,
for such seeming insolvable situations. Mankind, since industrial revolution,
has indeed solved many unimaginable things. The situation has also be-
come furtile to fraudulent people and cheats too. I came across an interest-
ing situation in this regard.
Vastu shastra is a proven and a practical science. An innocent person
became a victim to a fake vastu consultant, this happened in Nalgonda Dis-
trict, on the request of a Jawan of Armed forces I was studying his house in
a remote corner of his district , its well known incidentally my vastu consulta-
tion to members of armed forces is free. While I was seeing his house, he
narrated a peculiar incidence in the house of one Bheema Naik (name
changed), since his condition was miserable, he consulted a fake vastu
scholar and sought his advice. That cheat saw a golden goose in Naik and
gave him a Talisman and asked naik to worship the same for seven days
and then hang it in right opposite the main entrance and do daily prayer to

that, and charge a sum of two thousand rupees as initial advance and later
twenty thousand rupees as fees and also feed seven scholars for seven
days, further he was continuously extracting money from him, there after too
and promise that within 21 days every thing would be resolved, poor Naik
was en easy victim, even after several months, the problems remained as
they were. Naik felt he was cheated and wanted to confront the imposter. It
was too late, he could not locate him. Many of the people do not like to pay
the vastu scholar his legitimate fees and fall easy victims in the end (to such
fake scholars and in fact loose far more in the bargain) , all this happens
because of improper vastu of his own house. A genuine vastu scholar does
not recommened Talismans, pooja, and the like, he looks at the house and
physical environs and makes his recommendations.
No doubt fate is fatal, yet one has to face the same and try to over-
come, the one boon God gave us in this regard is Vastu. Earlier Saints have
written several treatises on this subject, also present scholars have contrib-
uted to this science tremendously by conducting original researches in vari-
ous aspects of vastu, Their struggle in this regard has indeed been phe-
nomenal, once street thrust brings fortune to one family and the same may
not be so to another. Studying all these varying aspects and coming to logi-
cal conclusions has indeed been a great feat, accomplish by the present
day scholars.
We should always remember one cordinal principle, what ever be the
surroundings our home should atleast be vastu compliant, for we may not
be able to modify or correct external surroundings by applying remedial
measures in our own house, it is possible to mitigate some of the influences
of external factors.

House no:1 .. has ENE street focus where the thrusting street is sharp
in length. The second house has ENE street thrust which a longer street and
third house similar thrust which much longer street.

one is small, house number two is very large, however the ENE street focus
is same for either house. In this case house number one is able to absorb
fully the effects of street focus. In case of house number two even after
absorbing the effect fully it is insufficient. In such situations the residents of
house number -1 would be benefited much earlier, where as in case of
house number two may be delayed.
It may also not be totally correct state that the benefits of the street
focus bestow similar results to all houses. Streets are never uniform (in size
and length and surroundings), they may have peculiar bends and may have
several combination effects. Only a competent vastu scholar may be able to
detect these and comment on them. Vastu shastra is like a huge ocean and
it cannot be quantified. Its depth is unpredictable. Sad in our society, there
are people who precisely do the same and deceive the general public. How-
ever there are people who seem to feel it birth right to get cheated and
some do get cheated due to their thinking and that they should not be ex-
travagant (?) In their payments to competent vastu consultant and thus waste
large sums of their hard earned money and time. However, there all a few
how do posses right temperament and consult accomplished vastu consult-
ant and profit there by.

No two streets are identical, they are hugely dissimilar, such being the
case, the street thrusts are also dissimilar. There are 8 directions for a house
and 8 types of street thrusts are but natural, yielding 64 types of street thrusts,
we have seen how there may be several street thrusts in one direction alone,
each bestowing its own effects on the house. Only a thorough study at sight
alone would reveal the facts.
I have studied two cinema theatres in a town, both in the same pre-
mises ground and first floor. They were facing two street thrusts, let us study
the malevolent street thrusts only.

People presume the above street thrust to be NNE. Huge sums were

thus invested and the two theaters constructed on a grand scale, we may
assume for the sake of discussion the theaters as NE block, to this block
there are streets on Eastern and Northern side. However these streets did
not extend towards north and east. People generally assume that the block
is favoured by northeast street focus and came to grief. These theaters
however ran successfully for two to three years only and closed now. Fur-
ther these theaters are not even mentioned about. Such is the result of
wrong decisions. Nearly two crores of rupees investment (around 1995)
has bitten the dust.
The strange part of the whole story is the site was wetted by a vastu
consultant (?), you may conclude the rest of the matter. Because of his
ignorance several people lost their investment and several others employ-
ment too.
A competent vastu scholar seldom makes such blunders no one de-
sires to earn a bad name. Even a small mistake may result in huge conse-
quences.
The knowledge as to where the house is facing the street thrust is
indeed important. However it is equally important to know as to wherefrom
the street is originating (coming from).
We may observe another strange phenomena, the street has started
from malevolent side and struck the house on the benevolent side and gave
bad results. In another instant the street has started from benevolent side
and struck on the malevolent side of the property. What are the conse-
quences?
The street are starts from ENE and strikes the house on ESE, this
house will have the effects of ESE street thrust. But in that severety do not in
the same intensity. Putting it in another way the effects should be similar in
intensity to that of ESE thrust on fully vastu compliant house. For a fully
vastu compliant house greatly moderates the malevolent effects of ESE
street thrust. Just as the residual smell retained in a container even after the

contents are emptied. If some remedial steps are taken even this can be
overcome. However a comprehensive evaluation is possible only after ac-
tual fields study.
The benevolent results of Northeast construction ?
Things such as extension on Northeast side, low level on NE side,

though are window on the NE such and similar things are beneficial. We
first examine this:
If NE of our extended it has beneficial effects, examine figure -10., let
us for the present leave aside the quantum of extension and examine the
types of extension so as to understand the subject in a comprehensive
manner.

Now we have seen how certain constructions them selves are trans-
formed as street focus, same could be construed for plots too. This is just
explained for one’s understanding. This does not mean that every construc-
tion can be construed to be transforming as a street thrust.
Some people comprehend as street thrust immediately. Some even
could comprehend its consequences and some others their benevolent or
malevolent effects rather acutely as also remedial measures for the same.
How ever I am trying to explain all these phenomena not for scholars
but for ordinary earthly people keen to know and hence often side step to
explain more comprehensively. When a person having no knowledge of
subject reads this book he will be happy to know as it satisfies his logical
mind. Others who already are familiar with the subject would appreciate as
their knowledge gets acknowledgement and know a bit more. Further people
well worst in the subject, even while just glancing through the pages, would
appreciate the efforts put in by the other and may even try to talk to him to
complement him for the job done well.
As for my self I am trying to be as comprehensive as possible, so that
even ordinary folk, not familiar with the subject may grass it well.
Having seen the order of transformation one can visualize what a
street thrust is all above, its important to know, as to which part (direction) of
the house is facing the street thrust as also from where such thrust has
originated. Simply put, the effect of street thrust is similar to the effect of
having an entrance door at that point for going and coming into the house
(we know a door in west and south is beneficial and a door at ESE, SSW,
SW, WSW, NW, NNW are indeed harmful) it must be well understood that
evaluating a street thrust and its effects either malevolent or benevolent will
have to be done carefully after establishing the fact of street thrust, compre-
hensively by physical evaluation alone, we will see this aspect later in this
book.

There are instances where effects of such street thrusts could be

enormously increased or minimized. For instance if a house faces a ma-
levolent street thrust the consequences are indeed disastrous. However in
the given situation had there been are perimeter wall in conformity with vastu
science (described more comprehensively in subhavaastu a modern book
written after exhaustive research), the malevolent effects could be greatly
reduced.
The external geographical features of the house – street thrust levels
extensions or otherwise high raise mounts constructions, lakes, water bod-
ies, drains and low line areas etc – all these come under the generic name
of neighbourhood vastu. One’s own compound wall and construction within
alone are household vastu. This neighbourhood also affects the vastu of
one’s house. Depending upon one’s own construction the effects can be
moderate (whether good or otherwise) or rather severe. It is for this reason,
mature vastu scholars urge for the proper vastu consultation before under-
taking any purchase of plot or construction at site. If a house Is vastu com-
pliant – the residents will enjoy benevolent effects even though slowly in the
beginning. It is but natural to conclude as the period of the residents in-
creases prosperity also becomes enhanced. One should, rather not live in a
non vastu compliant house for longer period. Even if the earlier period is
indeed good one may have to face tough times ahead.
In so far as street thrusts and its effects are concerned, and expert
vastu consultant alone would be able to discern and reveal the same. Other-
wise with incomplete knowledge results would be disastrous.
The street in front of the house itself could cause a street thrust (good
or otherwise), exposing such things and remedial measures if required are
indeed in the domain of a competent vastu scholar alone. At times such
revelations could be stunning. Vastu is an applied science.
Here I would like to reveal to you how me and my team have gone
about and studied peculiar cases in one’s house only the second child was
afflicted with polio and not the first and third, there are cases only the first
issue is afflicted with this ailment. What could be the vastu defect in the
house to cause such selective action ? I started first investigating where
only second child afflicted polio. Later our investigation was carried out to
locate families where first and third issues were similarly afflicted. In the
same manner investigations were carried out for paralysis cases – left side
limbs and right side limbs separately.
If one has to locate say paralytic attack on left leg where to find out
such families first and try to meet them personally. Some times it took sev-
eral days of long journey to collect such data for all this perseverance was
the key word. Some times even after several forays I ended disappointed. I

took all this and much more in the stride and mood on. It is for this reason
even now that I am in quest of vastu knowledge. And it shall be even when I
become old. I can never claim that though I am in this field for over 18 years
that I have mastered subject thoroughly.
Now let us discuss again on paralysis , if there is open space on west
side of the house and no compound wall separating this and one’s house ,
the head of the family may become a victim of paralysis, if one stays in such
a house for long, even other members of the family would be subject to
great hardships, which may even lead to premature demise. However this
is not the only reason for being afflicted with paralysis. If the house as a
sloping western verandah, paralysis could be a natural result. If there be a
bath room between a house and southwest room (if there be a separate
room on the southwest side of the house within the compound ) and this is
at a lower level paralysis is indicated. However this may be curable conse-
quent to room in the southwest side within the compound. I had also ob-
served in the absence of such a room on the southwest side and southwest
is open or low level area (ditch, water body etc) the head of the family a
victim of paralysis and consequent troubles in the life – leading to death
even. I had also seen some other reasons for paralysis affliction, some of
these are
1. When the southern side of the house is low in level
2. When the eastern and northeastern side of the house are at higher
level of the house
3. When there are huge construction on the northeast side of the house
and the like.
In addition these residents suffered financial losses, low reputation in

society, ill fame etc.
Further I have also found in my quest for the vastu causes of paralysis
on the right limbs only.
Toilets in SSW area even this is out side of the house,
Toilets on the southwest side
The drain water of the SSW toilet flow towards north etc.
Some other instances rather peculiar has surfaced.
If in a toilet as above drain water flowing towards east resulted in pa-
ralysis of left leg only.
All this let to be conclusion that toilet in SSW is the principal vastu

villain causing paralysis to the residents. If such toilet does not have proper
flooring financial losses, family hardships and discords are also observed.
To locate just the above we had spent nearly 3 weeks and consider-
able financial expenditure in the bargain.
With regard to street thrust several studies were made as above at
considerable expense of time and other resources.
I had also observed that when ever a new thing is thus reveal several
people jump up and corroborate the same.
Above two decades ago, perhaps not many people would have even
heard the term “vastu”, first one writer brought a volume on this subject,
soon several came on the seen publishing several books professing over
40 years of experience in vastu even though just 50 years old. In this sce-
nario genuine vastu scholars have not ventured openly.
There are several features in neighbourhood vastu and this is already
elaborated earlier. Of these street thrust is significant. A benevolent street
thrust may turn a proper to an a aristocrat and a malevolent vice versa. These
street thrust are visible and some times invisible too. Some are even called
stealthy.
Let us first examine visible street thrust, in this case remedial mea-
sures where ever are to implemented are indeed possible, these street

Effects of benevolent street thrust when house is vastu compliant.

This can be compared to an even journey powered by a compatable engine
(on car) on a smooth road.
Several good things could visit the residents there may be a smooth
sailing in life. Work undertaken by them could be speedily accomplished
without any obstructions what so ever. There may be very many pleasant
events in life and life is generally enjoyable.
Effects of benevolent street thrust when the house is not vastu com-
pliant. This can be compared to an uneven journey on a rough patch of road
full of pot wholes and driven by a vehicle prone to frequent breakdowns.
The residents would be victims of wrong vastu home as also benefit
by the benovelant street thrust some times both showing their effects simul-
taneously it is however rather difficult to say as to when such good or evil will
be fall. However residents may face obstacles in life. When a benevolent
street thrust strikes a non vastu compliant house it is even possible that the
ill effects of non vastu compliance could be minimized. If however such

modifications as are necessary for vastu compliance are undertaken soon

they may fully benefit from benevolent street thrust.
When house is vastu compliant and is afflicted by malovelent street
thrust.
This can be compared to a cart with one side harnest by a bull other
side either vacant or by a man in place of bull. Which would mean that all
times, there is some thing or other not cooperating with one’s efforts and
hence is lost in race. The residents will be enjoying the benovelent effects
of vastu compliant home as also the ill effects of the malovelent street thrusts.
In such cases, if the residents undertake appropriate remedial measure to
overcome the ill effects, things could be far better. It is best not to neglect
the effects of malovelant street thrusts and undertake urgent remedial mea-
sures. Here a word of caution: I strongly urge not to indulge in self medica-
tion. Ignore the expenses involved. Consult a competent in this behalf so
that there is no cause for regretting later. I have observed several instances
where people indulge in self medication and came to grief.
When the house is not vastu compliant as also malovelent street thrust.
This case is similar to a bullock cart where the bulls are raiding the cart
and man is pulling the same.
Similar to a paralytic loosing healthy limbs. The residents may face
daily hazardous life loosing self prestige. If ever you see a house like that
kindly do advice the residents regarding this and urge them to seek an ex-
perts advice. Generally residents of such houses are not amenable to help-
ful advices. For both the malovelent situations would have done their job.
They may end up loosing every thing they had or what all worth to happen
would have already happened.
One street may bestow benovelence on one house and malovelence
on the other. It may look strange but it’s a fact.

upon the street causing malovelent street thrusts viz ESE and WSW street
thrusts with disasters consequences.
If you want to buy a small thing in a shop, you are particularly observing
the standard of that item, why you are compromising on your house
which provides lifelong shelter to you and your next generation. Before
buying the plot, flat, house it is strongly advised to have one vastu expert
advice and then only decide to buy or not.

the same time.
One should therefore be careful while encroaching the road in the
front or rare. If the encroachment of the house is towards east of the home
(or north even the same is benovelent). If on the other hand such
encroadhment is either towards south or west of the house it is malovalent .
In all such cases do consult an expert.

clearer.

build the house as if the street is thrusting on the house, it’s a natural
phenomina. There can be several street thrusts of this type. If there are
such malovelent street thrusts we may adopt remedial measures and cor-
rect the construction. If there are benovelent effects like this needless to
say no further discussion is required. Now we should discuss such situa-
tions.
NORTHEAST STREET FOCUS
Let us first find out about NE first, when a street thrust is observed
whether for a house, plot or factory or any other construction we should first
examine the source of such thrusting streets, if such source is from be-
nevolent side this is a good thing. For this purpose we may assume it to a
pipeline as water is transported via a pipe line so are good or evil as the
case may be.
