DPS International, Saket welcomes you to Syntax
v8.1 to be held offline on 23rd November 2024, in
our school premises. We aim to give young IT
enthusiasts a platform to portray their
technological skills and prowess. With the firm
belief that it is possible to explore new horizons of
technology through innovation and practical
learning, we take great pleasure in inviting you to

TECH TALK
Prompt: Related to the world of tech, will be released on
the spot!
Eligibility: Grades 10th to 12th
No. of Teams per school: 1

Mode: Offline

Rules:
1. ⁠Participants will not be allowed to utilise their devices
during the discussion, i.e after preparation time. Only
analog (on paper) notes will be allowed.
2. Participants are not allowed to use derogatory
language or name-call anyone in the room. They must
remain respectful of the other people in the
discussion, the judges, as well as the moderators.
TECH TALK
Discussion Format:
1. The competition will consist of 1 Preliminary, i.e
Knockout Round and 1 Final Round.
2. Participants will be divided into 2 rooms for the
Preliminary Round.
3. Preparation time of 20 minutes will be given after
the release of the topic. Prior to this, 5 minutes
will be allocated for any clarification questions
regarding the topic
4. The Discussion will begin with Opening
Statements by each Speaker for up to 1 minute.
5. Participants will share their opening statements in
a pre-allocated order that will be known to them
prior to the start of the round.
6. After the Opening Statements, the floor will open
for 30 minutes to a moderated discussion.
Participants are free to interpret and carry out the
discussion relevant to the topic.
7. When the discussion time ends, the Preliminary
Round will conclude with Closing Statements of
up to 90 seconds by each participant, in the
reverse order of the Opening Statements.
8. The top speakers from each room will be selected
for the Finals.
9. Finals format will be a surprise!
POWERPOINT DESIGNING
Prompt: It will be provided 15 minutes before the event
begins
Eligibility: Grades 5th to 6th
No. of Teams per school: 1
No. of members per team: 1-2
Mode: Offline
Software: MS Powerpoint
Time Limit: 90 minutes

Rules:
1. There should be minimum 10 slides and maximum 15
content slides in the PPT.
2. Participants will be allowed to use the internet to
research and collect information/images. However,
plagiarism is strictly unacceptable and will result in
instant disqualification.
3. Submission must be made and submitted within the 90
minutes provided, any submissions received after that
time will be disqualified.
4. No pre-made templates will be allowed for use during
the event

PIXEL PERFECTION
Prompt: It will be provided 15 minutes before the event
begins
Eligibility: Grades 9th to 12th

Software: Adobe Photoshop / Adobe Illustrator
Time Limit: 90 minutes
Rules:
1. Participants will be required to carry their hardware.
2. Participants must use only Adobe Photoshop/Adobe
Illustrator
3. Plagiarism of any sort, if detected, will lead to
disqualification
4. The decision of the judges will be final
5. Use of the internet is allowed, to download images,
however, use of any pre-made templates will lead to
disqualification
6. The use of artificial intelligence is strictly prohibited.

MOVIE MAKING
Prompt: The prompt will be given on 14th November
Eligibility: Grades 9th to 12th
No. of Teams per school: 1
No. of Members per team: 1-4
Mode: Online
Submission: 14th-21st November
Rules:
1. The topic will be disclosed on 14th November 2024
2. Entries must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM, 21st
November 2024.
3. A title must be provided
4. The time duration of the movie should not be more
than 5 minutes.
5. The team will be disqualified if the video is taken from
the Internet. Stock photographs and footage are not
allowed.
6. Any copyrighted material should be given proper
credit including sound effects.
7. Mp4 format only
8. Editing software- iMovie, canva, splice, capcut,
premier pro and after effects
9. The end of the movie should include the names of
team members
10. School names should not be included in the movie

MOVIE MAKING
Submission Process:
Students need submit their short films through the google
form link on the discord server
PHOTOGRAPHY(PHONE)
Prompt: Prompt will be given on the spot
Eligibility: Grades 7th to 12th
No. of Teams per school: 1
No. of Members per team: 2
Mode: Offline

Rules
1. Participants will bring their own phones and any other
accessories they may require such as tripod stands etc.
2. The details of the competition will be disclosed on the
spot.
3. You are required to provide a caption for the
photographs under 50 words.
4. The photograph must be taken in school premises.
5. Only in-phone editing is allowed, no external editing
softwares is allowed.
6. No drastic changes can be made to the photos when
doing in-phone editing and no extra time will be given
for editing.
7. The pictures should only be .JPEG/.JPG or RAW
format. Screenshots of the photograph will not be
accepted.
8. It is compulsory to submit the metadata of the
photograph clicked
9. Any plagiarism in the entries is strictly prohibited and
can result in disqualification
PHOTOGRAPHY(PHONE)
Submissions:
1. Participants on the day of the event will be required to
submit their photos through a google form link that will
be provided by the organisers.
2. Participants will be given an allocated time limit to
submit their photographs. Any photos submitted after
the deadline will not be accepted.

PHOTOGRAPHY(DSLR)
Prompt: Prompt will be given on the spot
Eligibility: Grades 7th to 12th
No. of Teams per school: 1

Mode: Offline

Rules:
1. Participants will bring their own DSLR cameras and any
other accessories they may require such as tripod
stands etc.
2. Participants are allowed to bring their own laptops but
only for submission purposes, the school is not
responsible for their devices.
3. The details of the competition will be disclosed on the
spot.
4. You may provide a caption for the photographs under
50 words, but this is not compulsory.
5. The photograph must be taken in school premises.
6. Only in-camera editing is allowed, no external editing
softwares is allowed.
7. The pictures should only be RAW format.
8. Any plagiarism in the entries is strictly prohibited and
can result in disqualification.
PHOTOGRAPHY(DSLR)

GAMING
Eligibility: Grades 9th to 12th

Prelims(Online): Valorant , Fortnite
Finals (Offline): Random PS5 Games (2v2)

Rules:
1. The two players will participate in two different events.
2. Points from both games (Valorant and Fortnite) will be
added for each school, and the top 6 schools with the
highest total points will advance to the finals.
3. Prelims will be held online on 20th November.
4. Top 6 schools will compete offline in a 2v2 tournament.
5. Cheating or use of hacks will result in immediate
disqualification.
6. Each player is allowed to participate in only one event
(Valorant or Fortnite).

Format:
Valorant:
6-8 players will compete in a Valorant Deathmatch.
The top 5 players with the highest kills will earn points
Fortnite:
6-8 players will compete in a Zone/Build War.
The top 5 placements will earn points
Finals:
The top 6 teams will compete in a 2v2 tournament for the
grand finale.
GAMING
Point System:
1st Place: 10 points
2nd Place: 6 points
3rd Place: 4 points
4th Place: 2 points
5th Place: 1 point
CROSSWORD
Eligibility: Grades 6th to 8th
No. of Teams per school: 1
No. of members per team: 1-2
Prompt: Puzzles would be provided on the spot
Mode: Offline

Rules:
1. Crossword puzzles would be provided to the
participants on the spot.
2. The participants must attempt to finish the crossword
in 1 hour.
3. The crossword puzzle would be based on general
knowledge related to technology.
4. Additional hints would be provided with the
crossword to assist the participants.
5. In case of a tie, teams will be given an additional
crossword in the same format as the previous round.

Judging Criteria:
Teams with the most correct answers win.
TECH QUIZZING
Prompt: Quiz will be given on the spot
Eligibility: Grades 9th to 12th
No. of teams per School: 1
No. of Members per team: 2
Mode: Offline

Rules:
Use of internet is prohibited

Format:
1. A preliminary round will be held where each team is
provided a sheet of questions. Teams must complete
the sheet in 30 minutes. 6 teams with the highest score
proceed to the final round to be conducted in the
auditorium.
2. The format of the final round will be disclosed on the
spot.
HACKATHON
Prompt: You must make a bot to play a game
autonomously.
Eligibility: Grades 10th to 12th
No. of teams per School: 1
No. of Members per team: 2
Mode: Online

Rules:
1. The only language allowed is Python.
2. You can only use in-built libraries.
3. Any team caught plagiarizing code will be
disqualified.
4. The event will begin at 00:00 on the 17th of
November, and the submission deadline is at 23:59
on the 21st of November (5 days).
5. More information on the game, needed format of the
bot and other specifics will be given at the start of
the event on our discord server.

Judging Criteria:
1. Your bot will be simulated against bots made by
other teams in a round-robin format where each bot
plays against every other bot multiple times.
2. A point system will be shared along with the
information for the game.
3. The bot with the most points will be proclaimed the
winner.
4. In case of ties, the bots’ head-to-head result will be
taken into account.
PROGRAMMING
Prompt: Questions will be provided on the spot
Eligibility: Grades 8th to 12th

No. of Members per team: 2
Mode: Hybrid

Format:
Round 1 - Programming Gauntlet (Online):
Online round will be held on 20th November.
There will be 5 questions in total to be answered.
Questions will be hosted on HackerRank where we have
created a custom competition. Difficult questions gain
more points. The teams will be ranked by points. Time
taken to solve the questions will be used for tie breakers.
Round 2 - Knock-Out round (In school)
This round will follow a knockout bracket format with the
top 8 teams from the previous round. There will be 1
winner decided on the basis of the final match. Each match
will have 1 question which both teams will have to solve
and the team which solves the question first will proceed
to the next stage.
PROGRAMMING
Rules:
1. Code written should be authentic, it will be checked
for plagiarism very thoroughly if any form of cheating
is found that school will be disqualified.
2. Time period for online round is 1 hour 30 minutes.
3. Participants can use any programming language.

Judging Criteria:
1. The code submitted will be tested against multiple
test cases, code catering to all test cases will be
accepted.
2. Team with most points wins the round
SURPRISE EVENT
Prompt: Surprise!
Eligibility: Grades 10th to 12th
No. of Teams per school: 1
No. of members per team: 3
Mode: Offline

Rules:
1. Prompt will be given at the venue.
2. Bring personal computers if possible.
SPLICE
Eligibility: Grades 9th to 12th
No. of Teams per school: 1
No. of members per team: 1-2
Mode: Online

Format:
Round 1 - 18th November
Guess the song:
Participants are given an 3-5 second clip of a famous
song and they are tasked to identify the name of the
song, artist or the album awarding them points.
Participants with the highest points after the quiz will be
awarded 5 bonus points in total, giving them a boost in
the competition.
Audio Production:
Participants will get 2 hours in a monitored online
meeting to mix and complete the sample songs provided
to them. The beat has to be 2-3 minutes long. The
participants have to make use of at least 1 complete
sample.
Top 8 teams will qualify to round 2.
Round 2 - 20th 00:00 - 21st 23:59
Participants will be provided with a sample which they
will have to work with and submit a finished music file
within 48 hours. The song has to be 2-4 minutes long.
There will also be a surprise twist in round 2 to make it
more engaging.
SPLICE
Judging Criteria:

4. Technique & Skill
5. Mixing and mastering

Rules:
1. Use of AI and externalities is prohibited and will result
in disqualification of the team.
2. Including vocals is voluntary.
3. Participants have to submit all stem files.
