Reflection Paper

1. According to pdp.neda.gov.ph, the PDP2023-2028 aims for increased growth in the

economy and improved living conditions for Filipinos. These will be realized by making
more people more productive and competitive through the attainment of quality jobs, less
poverty, and improved competitiveness of business entities. Its priorities cover a wide
range of strategic objectives that include a higher consumption share of the poor, lower
poverty incidence, growth in private sector employment, and food and price stability. The
other high priorities involve natural disaster and climate change resilience as well as
innovation and digital transformation to pursue the long-term vision of “AmBisyon Natin
2040”. On the other hand, “AmBisyon Natin 2040” is the long-term vision for the
Philippines to be realized as a nation where every Filipino can enjoy a "matatag,
maginhawa, at panatag na buhay" or a stable, comfortable, and secure life by 2040.
By 2040, according to this vision, the nation is to become a middle-class society with no
poverty-to give people the ability to fulfill their daily needs, to plan for the future, and to
be living with high trust in the government. It is a long-term ambition, an anchor for
successive governments of development plans in the Philippines.

2. The ambitious goals set by the “Philippine Development Plan” and “AmBisyon Natin
2040” if pursued with unwavering effort and dedication are very achievable. The
projected growth rates of 6-8% GDP in 2028, along with poverty reduction goals, are
aligned with global trends of economic recovery post-pandemic. However, this will come
at the expense of much effort in defeating challenges such as climate change, inequalities,
and shifting global economies. Stronger elements include good governance, innovation,
and disaster resilience. “AmBisyon Natin 2040” will still go a long way in defining the
vision of that distant future but will call for high-level commitment for decades to come
from both government and society.

3. As a Filipino citizen and a student of Marinduque State University, I can help achieve the
aforementioned visions. As an active, well-informed student, I can facilitate good
governance and sustainability projects. Small actions taking an active role in community
initiatives, promoting environmental conservation, and patronizing small and local
businesses have positive ripples. On a personal level, I will also be focusing on upskilling
and lifelong learning, moving along with the theme of innovation to strengthen
competitiveness in the Filipino workforce. Thus, I am being an active individual building
a more resilient and prosperous Philippines.
