moist blue litmus paper held near the mouth of the test tube does not show any change. [2]

Vapours of ‘C’ are condensed to light yellow liquid by chilling the receiver under running cold water.
(c) ‘C’ obtained is slightly yellow in color. Give reason.
The yellow colour is due to dissolution of reddish brown coloured nitrogen dioxide gas in acid. This
gas is produced due to thermal decomposition of a portion of nitric acid.

(c) Why Platinum is not used as inert electrode. Pt reacts with Bromine.
