R: Good evening, sir. How can I help you?

C: My room is dirty. There’s dust on the furniture, the

sheets aren’t fresh, and the bathroom was a mess.

R: I’m very sorry to hear that, sir. This is not our

standard SERVICE, SO THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT
TO MY ATTENTION. Would you like our housekeeping
team to clean it right away, or would you prefer a
different room?

C: I’d like a different room.

R: Of course. Let me check availability. [pauses] We

have another room ready for you. May I help with your
luggage?

C: Yes, please.

R: Right away, sir. I apologize again for the

inconvenience and hope you’ll find your new room
satisfactory.

C: Hello, I’d like to make a complaint about the food and

drinks served at your restaurant.

R: What’s the problem now? HELLO, SIR/MADAM. COULD

YOU GIVE ME MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE PROBLEM?

C: The quality was unacceptable. The food was cold, and

the drinks tasted off.
R: Well, you can’t expect everything to be perfect, can
you? OH! I AM SO SORRY ABOUT THIS. THERE SHOULD
HAVE BEEN A MISTAKE, PLEASE LET ME LOOK INTO IT
RIGHT AWAY AND THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT
MATTER TO MY ATTENTION.

C: Excuse me? I’m paying for quality service. I think it’s

reasonable to expect properly prepared meals and
drinks.

R: Look, I’m not the chef. If you didn’t like it, maybe try
eating somewhere else next time.

C: This is completely unprofessional. I’d like to speak

with your manager.

R: Fine. Wait here, I guess. But don’t expect much to

change.
