Introduction
Background of the Study

The study of student behavior and manners has long been a topic of interest

in the field of education. As technology continues to play an increasingly prominent

role in the classroom, it is essential to understand how it affects the behavior and

manners of students. The integration of technology into educational settings has

been shown to have a significant impact on student behavior, with some studies

suggesting that it can improve student engagement and motivation, while others

have raised concerns about the potential negative effects on student behavior and

manners.

In recent years, there has been a growing body of research on the impact of

technology on student behavior and manners. This research has explored a range of

topics, including the effects of technology on student social skills, the impact of

technology on student self-esteem, and the role of technology in shaping student

attitudes towards learning.

Despite the growing body of research on this topic, there is still much to be

learned about the impact of technology on student behavior and manners. This

study aims to contribute to our understanding of this topic by examining the impact

of technology on student behavior and manners in a specific educational setting.

The subject of behavior and manners among students has gained attention in

the fast-paced world of today. As 11th graders, we have seen a noticeable decline in

our peers' commitment to accepted moral standards and polite manners. Numerous
variables that affect the attitudes and behaviors of our generation can be blamed

for this change.

The widespread influence of social media and technology is one important

element that is causing manners to fall apart. Many people in the digital age mostly

rely on virtual communication, which might result in a decline in interpersonal skills

and face-to-face contacts. This dependence on screens can occasionally lead to a

lack of social graces and empathy.

Furthermore, the responsibilities of both recreational and academic life

frequently leave us with little time to devote to learning appropriate conduct and

manners. The demands we place on ourselves can occasionally result in frustration,

roughness, and a lack of empathy in our relationships.

Our conduct has also been shaped by alterations in community dynamics and

family arrangements. Some of us may not have had the appropriate advice or role

models to develop these vital social skills since values like civility and respect were

not as highly valued at home.

In addition, the media and popular culture have the power to shape our

thoughts and actions. The way that aggressiveness, materialism, and self-

centeredness are portrayed in the media can occasionally legitimize disrespectful

behavior and a lack of empathy among kids.

In order to tackle these issues, it is imperative that we as Grade 11 students

will proactively work to model good manners and behavior. Respect, empathy, and

compassion can be fostered in our school community by highlighting the benefits of

character education, social-emotional development, and ethical ideals. Encouraging

good behavior, modeling positive behavior, and providing chances for self-reflection

on our actions can all help us grow as people and make the school atmosphere

more peaceful and courteous.

In summary, even if behavior and manners among students are a

complicated topic, we, the Grade 11 students, have the ability to positively impact

the situation. We may contribute to the creation of a more respectful society by

being aware of what we do, treating others with respect and concern, and actively

fostering an inclusive and caring culture.

Statement of the Problem

One of the primary challenges encountered in researching the decline

of behavior and manners among students is the inherent subjectivity of

studying these complex and multifaceted concepts. Studying these

complicated and multidimensional notions is inherently subjective, which is

one of the main obstacles faced by researchers looking into the fall of

behavior and manners among students. Since cultural norms, societal

expectations, and personal opinions all have a significant impact on behavior

and manners, it can be difficult to create objective standards for what

behavior is suitable or respectful. There is often disagreement on what

behaviors are desirable or acceptable among people, communities, and

cultures due to the vast range of interpretations of behavior and manners.

The study method becomes more complex and may be biased as a

result of this subjectivity. When assessing student behavior, researchers may

unintentionally incorporate aspects of their own values, worldviews, and

cultural upbringings. This can have an impact on how they perceive and

analyze the information gathered.

This means that there's a chance that the research findings will be

influenced by subjective opinions, which could result in inaccurate or

distorted conclusions about how students behave and behave.

Research in this field is further complicated by a lack of consistent

metrics and methods for evaluating manners and behavior. Behavior and

manners are intrinsically qualitative and context-dependent, which makes it

challenging to assess them consistently and reliably. This is in contrast to

more quantitative factors, such academic success or attendance rates. It

may be more difficult for researchers to precisely define and assess behavior

and manners across a variety of contexts and studies if there aren't widely

used definitions and assessment instruments.

Moreover, the changing aspect of manners and conduct poses an

additional challenge to research. These aspects of human contact are always

changing and being impacted by a wide range of elements, such as cultural

shifts, technological developments, and societal changes. Researchers must

negotiate this dynamic environment and modify their approaches to reflect

the subtleties and complexity of modern social interactions when studying

student behavior and manners.

Researchers studying student conduct and manners face several

obstacles, so they must approach their work with tact, be conscious of their

own prejudices, and adhere to strict scientific guidelines. Through

recognizing the subjectivity of behavior and manners, applying a variety of

research techniques, and critically analyzing their own viewpoints, scholars

can work to surmount these obstacles and offer significant contributions to

our comprehension of student behavior and manners in today's.

research.

Scope and Delimitations

The scope of the research on behaviors and manners among Grade 11

HUMSS students at Dipintin High School focuses on exploring how these

aspects influence student interactions, academic performance, and personal

development within the school setting. The study will investigate the impact

of cultural norms, social influences, and educational practices on behaviors

and manners specifically among students in the HUMSS program. It aims to

provide insights into the role of behaviors and manners in shaping student

relationships, classroom behavior, and the overall school climate. The

research may involve surveys, interviews, observations, and analysis of

relevant literature to gain a comprehensive understanding of behaviors and

manners among Grade 11 HUMSS students at Dipintin High School.

In terms of delimitations, the study will be limited to Grade 11 students

enrolled in the HUMSS program at Dipintin High School, excluding behaviors

and manners among students in other grade levels or academic programs.

Due to resource constraints, the research may not encompass a large

sample size or extensive data collection methods beyond surveys,

interviews, and observations. It will not address behaviors and manners

outside of the school environment or factors unrelated to student behavior

within the HUMSS program. Additionally, the research will not delve into

individual psychological or behavioral issues but will focus on broader trends

and patterns related to behaviors and manners in the school context.

THE CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORKS

To explore the impact of manners and behaviors on social interactions

and individual conduct, the study titled "Manners Matter: Uncovering the

Science Behind Respectful Behavior" employs a comprehensive conceptual

framework drawing from various disciplines, including sociology, psychology,

education, and literature. By integrating insights from these fields, the

research aims to elucidate the significance of good manners in shaping

social norms, cultural values, and personal development, with a particular

focus on the literature on manners and etiquette.

The study examines the sociological perspective on manners,

investigating their influence on social control, power dynamics, and the

extent to which individuals adapt to societal expectations. Manners are seen

as integral to social norms, playing a role in defining group boundaries and

fostering social connections. This sociological lens provides a framework to

understand how manners reflect and enforce social values.

Psychology contributes insights into manners as expressions of

emotional regulation and control, exploring how behavioral conformity and

manners impact social interactions and one's self-perception. Understanding

the affective dimensions of manners, such as the influence of emotional

disposition and self-control on polite behavior and social interactions, adds

depth to the research.

The study also considers educational concepts in fostering manners,

suggesting that teaching excellent manners from an early age can cultivate

social skills, respect for others, and a sense of responsibility. By

incorporating educational principles, the research aims to investigate

methods for promoting positive social interactions and building a culture of

civility and respect.

Examining manners and behaviors through a historical and cultural

lens, the study draws on literature to shed light on the evolution of social

norms and manners. This perspective offers valuable insights into the

cultural significance of manners and their impact on personal conduct.

Overall, by combining research from multiple fields, the study seeks to

explore the scientific foundations of respectful behavior. By examining the

psychological, sociological, and educational aspects of manners, the

research aims to understand the importance of manners in fostering

harmonious interpersonal interactions and cultivating a civilized society.
