D/03 PRE - ARRIVAL / PRE - DEPARTURE

Note
Carry out these checks 12 to 2 hours prior every arrival, every departure (including anchorages/ shifting berths) and
entering Restricted Waters.
On noticing any abnormality, deficiency or doubt, immediately report to Master.
Company procedures are available in NMM chapters ‘Navigation in Coastal and Restricted Waters’ and ‘Arrival and
Departure Port Operations’.

24. Pilot embarkation / disembarkation prepared, checked by Responsible Officer.

25. Pilot card and Master-Pilot Exchange documents ready.
26. Courtesy / Pilot* and other required flags hoisted.
27. Mooring equipment and fittings tested / ready. Hydraulic oil checked.
28. AMVER / Ship Reporting System sent.
29. Drip trays / Save-alls plugged.

16. Instrument illuminations - Rudder, RPM, ROT Indicators, all other instruments.
17. Daylight signal lamp tested - on mains and battery power.
18. Walkie-talkies with spare batteries - fully charged and ready.
19. Any other electronic position fixing / navigational aids checked.
20. Clear-view screens, wipers & heating arrangement* tested.
21. Compass error verified. All repeaters synchronised with master gyro.
Auto-pilot operational.
22. Note: Align Auto-pilot with ship's head and engage Auto-pilot. The rudder must follow when the set
course is changed.
23. Gyro off- course alarm tested. (audible and visual ).
24. BNWAS switched ‘ON’.
25. LRIT running.
26. Anemometer operational.
27. Navtex – set up (stations and message type) and operational.
28. Inmarsat C set for receiving coastal Maritime Safety Information (SafetyNET).
Note: For areas not covered by Navtex.
All VHF’s – tested. GMDSS equipment and emergency lights – set up and
