General Instructions:
1. This question paper contains five sections A, B, C, D and E. Each section is compulsory.
2. Section - A carries 20 marks weightage, Section - B carries 10 marks weightage, Section - C
carries 18 marks weightage, Section - D carries 20 marks weightage and Section - E carries 3
case-based with total weightage of 12 marks.
3. Section – A: It comprises of 20 MCQs of 1 mark each.
4. Section – B: It comprises of 5 VSA type questions of 2 marks each.
5. Section – C: It comprises of 6 SA type of questions of 3 marks each.
6. Section – D: It comprises of 4 LA type of questions of 5 marks each.
7. Section – E: It has 3 case studies. Each case study comprises of 3 case-based questions, where 2
VSA type questions are of 1 mark each and 1 SA type question is of 2 marks. Internal choice is
provided in 2 marks question in each case-study.
8. Internal choice is provided in 2 questions in Section - B, 2 questions in Section – C, 2 questions
in Section - D. You have to attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

of Vitamin B, one unit of food F1 and F2 cost Rs.5 and Rs.2.5 respectively. The minimum daily
requirements for a person of Vitamin A and B are 40 and 50 units respectively. Assuming that
anything in excess of daily minimum requirement of Vitamin A and B is not harmful, find out the
optimum mixture of food F1 and F2 at the minimum cost which meets the daily minimum
requirement of Vitamin A and B. Formulate this problem as an L.P.P

whereas bookseller B sold 230 books of Mathematics and 425 books of Applied Mathematics. In the
month of April, bookseller A sold 550 books of Mathematics and 300 books of Applied Mathematics
and bookseller B sold 270 books of Mathematics and 450 books of Applied Mathematics.

Q34 A particular river near a small-town floods and overflows twice in every 10-years on an average.
Assuming that the Poisson distribution is appropriate, what is the mean expectation. Also calculate
the probability of 3 or less overflow floods in a 10-year interval. (use 𝑒 −2 = 0.1353)

Boats and streams :- Shanu is rowing a boat. He takes 6 hours to row 48 km upstream whereas he
takes 3 hours to go the same distance downstream. Based on the above informations, answer the
following questions:

(i) What is his speed of rowing in still water ? (1)


(ii) What is the speed of the stream ? (1)
(iii) The stream is flowing at the rate of 4 km/h. If Shanu rows a certain distance upstream in 3.5
hours and returns to the same place in 1.5 hours, then what is the speed of the boat in still
water ?

With reference to the above information, what is the total distance covered by Shanu ? (2)
Q37 Case study – II

A cable network provider in a small town has 500 subscribers and he used to collect Rs.300 per
month from each subscriber. He proposes to increase the monthly charges and it is believed from
past experience that for every increase of Rs.1, one subscriber will discontinue the service.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions :


(i) If Rs.x is the monthly increase in subscription amount, then find the total revenue (1)
(ii) What is the increase in charges per subscriber that yields maximum revenue ? (1)
(iii) Find the total number of subscribers which gives the maximum revenue (2)

Q38 Case study – III
The binomial distribution with parameters n and p is the discrete probability distribution.The
probability distribution is given as
P(X = r) = nCr pr qn – r, r = 0, 1, 2, 3, ….n, p, q > 0 such that (p + q)n = 1, where n is the number of
trials , p = probability of success and q = probability of failure.

A fair coin is tossed 6 times. Based on the above, answer the following questions :
(i) What is the probability of getting exactly four heads (1)
(ii) Find P(X = 0) (1)
(iii) What is the probability of getting atleast four heads
