• Include these file folders in your
independent work stations.
• Practice community skills before and
after taking class community trips.
• Practice community skills even if you
don’t take community trips!
Prep:
• Cut and glue labels to folder.
• Glue matching pages to right side
of file folder.
• Laminate file folder.
• Laminate matching pieces.
• Cut out matching pieces.
• Put soft Velcro on answer spaces
and on left side of file folder.
• Put hard Velcro on back of
matching pieces.
• Put matching pieces in empty
boxes along bottom.
Tip:
• To help keep your pieces organized, you can number each file folder and
write the same number on the back of each answer piece. Even though

Related safety tip: we teach our male students
to use the toilet in the stall in public bathrooms.
Students with disabilities are at a higher risk for
abuse and a closed stall is a safer place than an
open urinal. Just something to consider when
you’re teaching community skills!
I will go into the stall.
I will go to the
bathroom.
