Read the following passage about the benefits and limitations of renewable energy and mark the letter A,
B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the best answer to each of the following questions from 23 to
30.
[I] Renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, have gained global popularity as
a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. [II] Unlike coal and oil, renewable energy generates electricity
without releasing harmful emissions, making it a cleaner option for the environment (Jacobson et al., 2017).
[III] However, despite the advantages of renewable energy, there are still notable challenges that need to be
addressed for it to fully replace traditional energy sources (Ellabban et al., 2014). [IV]
One major advantage of renewable energy is its sustainability. Renewable resources, unlike fossil fuels, are
naturally replenished and do not deplete over time. For instance, solar power harnesses energy from sunlight,
which is virtually endless. In addition, renewable energy contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
which helps combat climate change. Many countries are increasingly investing in renewable technologies to
decrease their carbon footprint and meet international climate goals.
However, renewable energy has certain limitations. One significant issue is its intermittent nature; for
example, solar and wind power depend on weather conditions, making it difficult to generate a consistent
power supply. This variability can disrupt the energy grid, which relies on a steady supply of electricity to
meet demand. Another challenge is the high initial cost of setting up renewable energy facilities. Although
prices have decreased in recent years, installing solar panels or wind turbines still requires substantial upfront
investment (IRENA, 2019).
Despite these challenges, advancements in technology are gradually making renewable energy more efficient
and accessible. Improved energy storage systems, such as batteries, allow excess power generated during
favorable conditions to be stored and used later, ensuring a more reliable energy supply. As technology and
infrastructure improve, renewable energy may eventually .

Read the following passage and then choose the best answer to each question.
Is the generation gap in America no longer a severe problem as it used to be? Dating back to
the 1960s when teenagers tended to attack the values and goals of their parents as well as rebel
against the authority figures, the harmful conflicts between older and younger generations
increased sharply. It’s because teenagers' world wasn’t any longer limited in a narrow society
that wasn’t mobile, and instead of going to church every weekend, they were exposed to various
forms of social media like television and radios.
They got access to huge sources of new ideas, which freed them from old-fashioned and
boring lifestyles. However, many older people were conservative and didn’t accept differences
disturbing their normal life. Over time, however, the tension between generations has been
reduced due to the improved mutual understanding of baby boomers, Millennials and even
Zillennials in many fields of life.
According to recent research, the largest generational differences between young and old in
the United States are the use of technology and taste in music. Nevertheless, in terms of
technological use, many older people gradually learn how to use a laptop or smartphone to surf
the Internet from their children and especially their grandchildren due to their recognition of huge
technological benefits.
Regarding the musical differences, unlike in the past, older generations nowadays appear to
give fewer critical remarks on what type of music teens should listen to and begin to accept the
variety of music tastes when living under the same roofs.
Question 23. Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?
A. The generation gap was more severe in the 1960s.

Question 27. Which of the following best paraphrases the underlined sentence in paragraph 2?
A. Teenagers gained access to new ideas, which helped them escape traditional and dull ways of
living.
B. Teenagers were exposed to new sources of information, which made them more conservative.
C. The new ideas helped teenagers live in a more restricted and less mobile society.
D. Teenagers were able to ignore the influence of their parents and embrace old-fashioned
lifestyles.
Question 28. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The generation gap in America has been significantly reduced due to the rise of social media.
