STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE – SELF SERVICE

PASSWORD RESET SOLUTION (ADSELFSERVICE PLUS)


Why AD Self-Service Plus?
For users to reset password and unlock account by themselves without raising any request to
IT helpdesk or RCC.

Steps to Reset or unlock Account by users:


Before availing the features of ADSelfService Plus, users should first enroll themselves.
ADSelfService Plus authenticates your identity using the information you provide during the
enrolment process. Enrolment is mandatory for all the users. Two Factors of Authentication
is mandatory for the users to reset/unlock their account. Following or the two factors of
authentication users are required to enroll.
1. SMS OTP – This is an automatic enrolment and as a first factor of authentication SMS
OTP will be triggered to the registered mobile number in CHRIS portal and the user
needs only verify the mobile number for the first time by entering the verification
code.
2. Microsoft/Google Authenticator – Enrollment in any one of the mentioned
authenticator is mandatory as a second factor of authentication.

How do I enrol in ADSelfService Plus?


Please find the below steps for reference for enrolling in AD Self Service Plus
1. Open any browser and type following address to Enrol and Accessing AD Self Service

2. Enter Your Login ID (Roll No) and Password


3. Choose Your Mobile Number for Verification and click send code

4. Enter the code that you received in your mobile and click Verify code and Continue

5. In below screen, Either you can use Microsoft or Google Authenticator for enrolment.
Enrolment using Microsoft Authenticator

Prerequisite:

• Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device from the Google Play
Store or the Apple App Store.

Configuration steps:

• In the ADSelfService Plus user portal, go to Enrolment > Microsoft Authenticator. A QR code
will be displayed.
• Go to Microsoft Authenticator app in your mobile. Select Scan QR code and scan the
displayed QR code.
• If that method fails, click Can't scan it? link. A set of numbers will be displayed.
• Go to Microsoft Authenticator app in your mobile. Select Add account > Other (Google,
Facebook, etc.) > OR ENTER CODE MANUALLY. Enter the Account name (something to
identify your account, say, ADSSP) and type the Secret Key displayed below. One-time-
passcode is generated.

Enrolment using Google Authenticator

Prerequisite:

• Download Google Authenticator app in your mobile device from the Play Store or the App
Store.

Configuration steps:
• In the ADSelfService Plus’ user portal, go to Enrolment tab → Google Authenticator. A
barcode will be displayed.
• Go to Google Authenticator app in your mobile. Select Scan barcode and scan the displayed
barcode.
• If that method fails, click Can't scan it? link. A set of numbers will be displayed.
• Go to Google Authenticator app in your mobile. Select Manual entry → enter the displayed
numbers in the app.
• A one-time-passcode is generated in the app. Type that value in the Enter code field.
• Click Next.

Ensure you are successfully enrolled.

Once the above mentioned enrolment is completed, the users can


reset/unlock their account by themselves.
Methods to reset password:
1. Through Web portal (https://pwdreset.iob.in)
2. Windows Logon screen.

Steps to reset password via web portal:


1. Access ADSelfService Plus https://pwdreset.iob.in through a web browser. Click
Forgot your password?
2. Enter your Login ID (Roll No). Enter the CAPTCHA verification code and click
Continue.

3. Select Mobile Number and click on Continue.

4. Enter the OTP received on Mobile

5. Enter the One-Time Password code from the authenticator application


6. Once verified Successfully Enter New Password and Click Reset Password. Make sure
you comply with all the password complexity criterion listed as per the password
policy. As and when the users type the password, the users will be intimated by a
green tick mark on the policies which they have complied with.

Steps to reset password from the logon screen:


You can also access the self-service portal right from the place where you realize that you
have forgotten your password - the login prompt.
Important: Your administrator should have deployed the login agent in your machine.

1. Access the login agent located in the change password or login screen.
2. Search for a Reset Password/Account Unlock button and click it.

3. In the window that opens, click Password Reset, verify your identity via the enforced
MFA techniques, and reset your password.

4. Enter your login ID (Roll No) and captcha.


5. Select Mobile Number and click on Continue.

6. Enter the OTP received on Mobile


7. Enter the One-Time Password code from the authenticator application

7. Once verified Successfully Enter New Password and Click Reset Password. Make sure
you comply with all the password complexity criterion listed as per the password
policy. As and when the users type the password, the users will be intimated by a
green tick mark on the policies which they have complied with.
Steps to unlock my account via web portal:
1. Access ADSelfService Plus through a web browser. Click Account locked down?

2. Enter your login ID (Roll No) and Captcha


3. Click on continue to verify the SMS code.

4. Once done Verification code will be sent to Registered Mobile number.

5. Verify the OTP received in Mobile followed by Authenticator App enrolled


previously.

6. Once verified Successfully select Unlock Account. And the account will get unlocked.
Note: The user will get an error as “account is not locked” if the user tries to unlock
an already unlocked account
Steps to unlock account from the logon screen:
You can also access the self-service portal right from the place where you realize that you
have forgotten your password - the login prompt.
Important: Your administrator should have deployed the login agent in your machine.

1. Access the login agent located in the change password or login screen.
Search for a Reset Password/Account Unlock button and click it.

2. In the window that opens, click Account Unlock, verify your identity via the enforced
multi-factor authentication techniques, and unlock your account.
3. Enter your login ID (Roll No) and Captcha

4. Click on continue to verify the SMS code.


5. Once done Verification code will be sent to Registered Mobile number.
6. Enter the One-Time Password code from the authenticator application

7. Once verified Successfully select Unlock Account.
