This work is divided into four parts which are introduction, mainbody, conclusion and reference.

By
starting by introduction, the following are the definition of objective in education according to different
scholars;

According to West,(2015), defined objective in education are clear measurable goals that guide the
design, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and instructions.West argue that
educational objectives are important because they can guide the development and evaluation of
educational programs, and because they provide a clear framework for teachers to access student
learning.

Jocobs (2014) Objective in education are precise description of what students should be able to do as a
result of learning, which save as foundation of curriculum development and assessment.

According to Delteil & Kirov (2020) objective education refers to a specific goals or outcomes guiding
teaching practice, assessment methods and enhancing students engagement through cognitive,
affective and psychomotor dimensions

According to Rodriguez &Albano (2017) Objective in education is a clear statement that outline expected
outcomes from education activities. This objective provides direction for both teachers and students,
ensuring that all parts are understand the goals of education experience.

The SMART criteria provide a structured approach to setting educational objectives:

Specific: Objectives should clearly define what is expected from students. For example, instead of stating
“understand math,” an objective could be “solve quadratic equations using the quadratic formula.”

Measurable: Objectives must include criteria for measuring progress and success. This could involve
assessments such as tests or projects that demonstrate student understanding.

Achievable: Objectives should be realistic and attainable given the resources available and the time
frame set for achieving them.

Relevant: Objectives need to align with broader educational goals and standards, ensuring they are
meaningful within the context of students’ lives.

Time-bound: Setting a deadline for achieving objectives helps maintain focus and urgency in the learning
process.

Generally; Objective in education, is the roadmap or outline for both teacher and students what we
should to do understand at the end of a particular specific course or reason. There are many examples
including skills objective, knowledge objective and attitude objectives.

The following are the importances of objectives in education;

It helps teacher to design effective planning,in objective of education teachers should understand the
nature and the purpose of a certain subject in order to know what student are expected to learn and
archive by the end of a lesson or course for the purpose of facilitating learning proces so as to achieve
the goals of the students as well as to increase the knowledge of the students

It provides assessment and evaluation, with clear objective assessment can be designed to target
specific areas of learning for example if an objective is to improve critical thinking skills, the assessment
can include analytical questions or problem solving tasks to evaluate that particular skills

It promotes motivation to the learners or students, the objective play a crucial role in promoting
motivation to the learned through clarity and direction, also provide leaners with clear understanding of
what they need to achieve. This clarity eliminate confusion and help them focus their efforts for example
a clear objective would be explain the courses and consequences

It provides clear focus for the learning purpose, this enable both teacher and students to be
concentrated against specific goals of a course or lesson for example objective clearly outline what
student are expected to learn and also help a student focus their effort on the most important aspects
for the learning content also for the teachers to know something will go to teach.

It helps to promote accountability to teachers and students, the great role of objective is to provid the
guidance and to provide the time which is required to fullfil that topic,so through that guidance it makes
students and teachers to fullfil their responsibilities in the teaching a learning activities. (Schunk et
al,2020).

The following are the roles of objective in education according Schunk et al (2020);

Introduction to Educational Objectives. Objectives in education serve as crucial components that guide
both teaching and learning processes. They provide a clear framework for what students are expected
to learn and achieve during their educational experiences. Objectives help in structuring the curriculum,
informing instructional strategies, and assessing student performance.

Guiding Instructional Design. One of the primary roles of objectives is to guide instructional design.
When educators establish specific learning objectives, they can create lesson plans and activities that
align with these goals. This alignment ensures that teaching methods are effective and focused on
helping students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. By having well-defined objectives, teachers
can select appropriate materials and resources that support the intended learning outcomes.

Enhancing Student Motivation. Objectives also play a significant role in enhancing student motivation.
When students understand what is expected of them and see clear goals ahead, they are more likely to
engage with the material actively. It emphasizes that clear objectives can foster a sense of purpose
among learners, motivating them to put forth effort toward achieving those goals. This motivation is
further enhanced when students can track their progress towards meeting these objectives.

Facilitating Assessment and Feedback. Another critical function of educational objectives is facilitating
assessment and feedback mechanisms. Objectives provide benchmarks against which student
performance can be measured. Educators can use these benchmarks to evaluate whether students have
met the desired outcomes through formative or summative assessments. Furthermore, when students
receive feedback based on clearly defined objectives, they gain insights into their strengths and areas for
improvement, which can inform their future learning strategies.

Promoting Self-Regulated Learning. It highlights how objectives promote self-regulated learning among
students. When learners are aware of their goals, they can take ownership of their educational journey
by setting personal targets aligned with classroom objectives. (Schunk et al, 2020). Also the followings
are the ways that show the clear objective benefit both teachers and students.

To Teacher are as follows;

Through effective assessment, clear objective are assential for effective assessment in education for
providing a clear framework for teacher to design or creating relevant assesment that directly
accurately assement measure students attainment of specific learning outcome or learning goals for
example if the objective is student will be able to analyse the courses of pandemic diseases so the
teacher can design a test with question that require students to demonstrate their understanding of
biological factors.

It helps to improve teaching practice; this is because objective direct teacher how to teach students and
what kind of method and aid which should be suitable for the students, example if teacher is preparing
materials in teaching the topic of earth structure can prepare the teaching material by using the main
objective in that topic.

Professional development ; this can increase the expansion of knowledge to a teacher through the
conteneous learning process in the practical means to the students when teaching in the classroom as a
result of building confidence due to there interaction with students which enable a teacher to
remember something easily so as to attain the goals of the students including performing there final
examination.

To Student are as follows;

It provide clear expection ; clear objective benefit student by providing structure framework that
enhance their understanding of what is expected in their learning process. When students are aware of
specific measurable goals they can focus their effort on achieving those target which fosters motivation
and engagement. This clarity helps them to monitor their own problem and understand the relevance of
there learning activities to broader educational standards and personal aspiration.

Through self- directed learning; student become self directed learner by pro ide a clear framework of
expectations and outcome when students understand this objective, they can plan their time and
learning strategies more effectively, focusing on what is required. This clarity encourages them to take
responsibility for their learning and work independently to meet their goals.

Focused on learning; objective play crucial role and directing student focus toward leading by providing
a clear framework or roadmap for learning the journey by clearly outlining to do objectives provide a
sense of purpose and direction through critical thinking objective promote higher - order thinking skill.
For example the objective " evaluate the effectiveness of a persuasive argument" require student to
analyse, synthesize and evaluate information.

Generally; both government entities and non governmental organizations plays vital roles in
implementing objectives within the education sector through the distinct yet complementary
approaches that aims to enhance access, equity, quality and overall effectiveness of education system
worldwide also, non_governmental organizations develop specialized educational programs that
address particular needs within community such as literacy programs for adult initiatives for
underprivileged youth. This program are often tail order to meet local demands that may not be full
addressed by government initiatives.
