There was a king named King Bruce. He won many battles ,but was badly defeated in
one battle. He ran away from the battle field. He disappeared himself in a cave. There was a
spider in that cave .It was trying to reach the roof of the cave. It failed again and again. After
every fall, the spider tried again. It did not lose confidence. The spider reached its web in the
seventh attempt.

The spider taught the king, Bruce a good lesson. It filled him with new hope and
courage. He left the cave and gathered his forces .This time he fought bravely and was
successful in making his country free.

One summer evening, I was sitting by the open window, reading a good frightening
mystery story. Soon it became too dark , so I put my book away and got up to switch on the
light. I was just about to draw the curtain as well, when I heard a loud cry of “Help !Help!” .
It seemed to come from the trees at the end of the garden. I looked out but it was now too
dark to see anything clearly. Almost immediately I heard the cry again. It sounded like a
child, although I could not imagine how anybody could need help in our garden.

I decided that I ought to go out and have a look in the garden .I took the torch which
we keep for going down into the cellar where there is no electric light, picked up a strong
walking stick thinking this might be useful too. I went out into the garden . Once again I
heard the cry. There was no doubt that it came from the trees at the end of the garden. “Who
is there?” I called out when I walked nervously in the passage which led to the trees. But
there was no answer. With the help of my torch I examined the whole garden and the lower
branches of the trees. There was no sign of anybody. I came to the conclusion that someone
was playing a rather silly joke on me.

 I went back to the house with a puzzle and put away the torch and the stick. I had just
sat down and begun to read my book again when I was startled by the cry of “ Help Help”
,this time from right behind my shoulder. I dropped my book and jumped up. There, on the
top of the window grill, was a large green and red bird .It was a parrot ! while I was out in
the garden ,the bird must have seen the light in the room and flown in through the open
window.
