This week will focus more on developing some of the skills you were introduced to in
Week 1.

Week 2 Tasks (independent):


q Read ‘in the flow’ reading text and complete exercises.
o Add the new words to your Vocabulary bank

q Practice debate on familiar topics, make a short video with an opinion on one
of the topics debated. Comment on another student’s video, agree/disagree +
reason.

q Will Chinese become the new global language within the next ten years?
Prepare arguments for and against this. Email your arguments to your tutor
before the synchronous lesson

LANGUAGE SKILLS PORTFOLIO


- Take a first look at your language skills portfolio. This will be used
throughout the course as a form of continual assessment. Here is your
first task:
‘Language Skills Portfolio Tasks 1 (critically evaluating a website/app for
language learning) and should complete this for Friday week 3’
- Discuss as a class how best to complete the task – whole class planning.

Interaction with a tutor)


1) Review reading text and work through the questions.
2) Listening Lecture – Listen to a recorded lecture take notes and answer
comprehension questions. – Self-evaluation - problems and solutions.
Discussing Top tips.
3) In groups students share information from the reading lesson.
4) Debate on global languages eg Will Chinese become the new global language
within the next ten years?
